Our expedition cruises explore some of New Zealand's most remote and spectacular regions — including Fiordland's hidden fiords, the shores of Stewart Island, the Marlborough Sounds, and the UNESCO-listed sub-Antarctic islands. For the most adventurous travellers, we also offer an extraordinary 28-day voyage to Antarctica.

The South Island cruises are shorter voyages — typically 5 to 10 days — exploring Fiordland, Stewart Island, and Marlborough Sounds aboard an intimate 18-guest yacht. The sub-Antarctic and Antarctica expeditions are longer, more remote voyages on a larger expedition vessel carrying up to 140 guests, venturing into some of the most pristine wilderness on Earth. They represent a significant step up in both commitment and experience.

Vessel size depends on the voyage. South Island cruises operate on an intimate 18-guest yacht, offering a highly personal experience. Sub-Antarctic and Antarctica expeditions sail on a larger purpose-built expedition vessel with up to 140 guests — still considered small-ship by industry standards, and designed specifically for remote-water exploration.

Expedition cruises attract curious, adventurous travellers with a love of wildlife, nature, and remote places. You don't need to be an experienced sailor or extreme adventurer — but a genuine sense of adventure and reasonable physical fitness are recommended, particularly for longer voyages involving zodiac landings and shore excursions.

As far ahead as possible, particularly for the sub-Antarctic and Antarctica voyages. These are low-capacity, high-demand departures with limited availability. We recommend enquiring at least 12 months ahead for the longer expeditions to avoid missing your preferred departure date.
