  • 5Best holiday ever! I had really high hopes for this trip as my friend and I had saved for a long time to go on it. And my gosh, it did not disappoint. Worth every penny. We are big fans of the middle earth world, but even if we weren't, I feel this would have been a fantastic way to squeeze in as many sights and activities as possible in two weeks. I was most hesitant about going on holiday with a group of strangers, but in many ways that was one of the best bits. I've never done an organised tour before, but this just felt like an extended school field trip with a bunch of friends hanging out. Everyone was so like-minded, open, friendly and funny. I had the time of my life and am hoping that the friendships I made will last a good long time. :)

  • 5My boyfriend and I went on the 15 day Lord of the rings tour, on the 9/11/2015! We started planning this to go about a year ago and after I got the all clear from the hospital booked it in May/June. Marie was extremely helpful and patient with us, especially as we enquirer about February time! The tour itself was absolutely amazing! I would recommend going even if you aren't a massive fan of LOTR/Hobbit! The scenery and opportunities you get are one in a million! We had such an amazing time in New Zealand that I'm already wanting to go back and I haven't even been home for 24 hours! If it's a dream to go there, I would, you won't regret it! Especially with this tour as you see both islands in all their beauty, and meet so many amazing people! If I could rate higher than excellent I would :)

  • 5The Red-Carpet LOTR Tour met my expectations. I was very glad that I get to stay at the same room at the Powderhorn Chateau where Elijah Wood who played Frodo during the filming of the LOTR. I would probably do the same or similar tour in the future.

  • 5My husband and I had an amazing adventure in New Zealand on this Lord Of The Rings tour! We have both fallen in love with New Zealand because of it. It truly was a trip of a lifetime! Julie, our tour guide/hostess was beyond wonderful! She was so incredibly helpful, personable and knowledgeable - always with a smile on her face. :) She was completely dedicated to making sure we had a wonderful time on our holiday, and because of her, we did! She is a gem! We highly recommend this tour!

  • 5I had a blast, I can't fault the team from Red Carpet, they were great fun and it was well run. Some of the locations were not what the public would normally have access to, so this was great. The actual itinerary for the tour was different to what you at Relaxing Journeys advertised, so I would say you need to speak to them about more accurate advertising on your part. (Ed. Hmmm, not sure how we can make it clearer? It's highlighted in bold at the top of the itinerary.) I had a great bunch of people on my tour and this made it even more special. The only thing I would say to people about New Zealand is don't expect great internet access! I was surprised at the majority of hotels that you had to pay for access (apart from 20-30 mins in the lobby), and the amount you got wasn't that much. My advice is tell people in advance that you won't be in touch, they'll have to wait until you get home for a report! Also some of the hotels were quite basic but if you are only there for a night, it's not so bad. Best hotel was Powderhorn Chateau, I got Billy Boyd's room and you can get a souvenir keyring and certificate!

  • 4An amazing trip showing sights from the top of the North Island through to the bottom of the South Island. It's very intense with mornings starting typically at 0630-0700 and lots of travel by coach to each location. This trip is a must if you are a huge fan of the Lord of the Rings as there is always an opportunity for acting out scenes at most of the locations. Be aware that there are a lot of activities that are additional costs - the Helicopter ride at Nelson is amazing! Lots of effort is put into the trip especially for the major fans of the films. If acting is not for you the scenery and the access to the locations is brilliant.

  • 5The most amazing holiday I have ever had in my life. Julie and Deanna our lovely guides really made this a special tour. I can only recommend to travel with Red Carpet Tours if you are an avid LOTR and Hobbit fan. This is not just someone making money from the hype around Peter Jackson's movies but Julie and her family are true fans themselves and are passionate, lovely and caring. I will definitely return and go on the tour again.

  • 5The guides, bus drivers, locations and people we met were fantastic. The size of the group was also nice - you wouldn't want too many more though as some of the places we visited were very small or designed for smaller groups and some of the optional activities were better for smaller groups. The accommodation was lovely. For those on a budget however you may want to consider offering some cheaper alternatives in some of the major cities eg: Wellington/Auckland. Overall the tour was fantastic though and I would recommend it to anyone even if they are not LOTR/Hobbit fans!
