The tour itself was very good; from the stops and then the overall purpose of visiting the main attraction was great. The only complaint I have was that the AC unit on the roof that was blowing into the main cab of the vehicle had mold around it and as someone who suffers from allergies (slight to mold) I was fairly sick after the tour was done. My one suggestion would be to clean out the cab (especially the AC) frequently to prevent this from happening to anyone else. Otherwise though, the trip overall was great.

From the first supportive contact from Nicole from Relaxing Journeys until the goodbye from our tour guide, the Lord of the Rings 4WD Tour was a joyful journey I would recommend to everyone who loves nature and spectacular views, combined with some adventure in a four-wheel drive. Our experienced, friendly and knowledgeable tour guide made this tour a very special experience that I am very happy to have enjoyed during my time in New Zealand. In my opinion, this trip is a worthwhile excursion for both people who love the Lord of the Rings movies and those who just want to enjoy the picturesque scenery (maybe with a sword in your hands).

What a great opportunity to see a Lord of the Rings filming location! We got to see some behind the scenes videos on our drive to and from Mt. Sunday. The highlight was being able to walk up to the top of Mt. Sunday and stand right where the set had been. While on top of Mt. Sunday our guide pointed our a few other Lord of the Rings locations nearby. If you're a Lord of the Rings fan I would definitely recommend this. Very cool trip to Edoras.

What a great way to end the year and our trip to New Zealand! This was everything we expected and more: breath taking scenery, enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide, small group of like minded people, delicious Kiwi style picnic and unrushed. A really special day and one we will not forget.

I was in Christchurch for 2 days and I'm glad I spent one day on this tour because it was just so fun! The service provided was so great and they were so professional, they pick you up promptly at your hotel and they take you out (and the drive was pretty scenic too)! It was a Lord of the rings tour so they also had cool props like axes, swords and flags for you to take pictures with and it was just so amazing. Whether you are a lord of the rings fan or not, this tour is definitely something you should make time for. It is worth it.

Great group of people, excellent driver and DVD clips brought lots of life to tour, yummy lunch with stunning view, opportunity to appear in promotional DVD a bonus. Weather turned itself on and props made things fun, thank you for a great way to spend a day.

This was an excellent 4WD tour providing an authentic LOTR experience including replicas of actual swords, axe, staff and Rohan flag for use in re-enactments on Edoras (Mt.Sunday) itself. Good half-hour hike to the summit, so a certain level of fitness is required. Very good champagne lunch on return which can be as late as 3pm, so recommend you get a morning snack. Pick-up starts from about 9am, but if there is a full bus and a lot of traffic can stretch to about 10am .. suggest this is noted in the itinerary so clients aren't ringing up the company to find out if they have been forgotten or if tour is going ahead!

We enjoyed this one day tour very much being the LOTR fans. Everything was fine except for one setback. My teenage daughter was saving up to purchase LOTR mechandise ('Selection of merchandise available for purchase' was stated in your tour highlights) and was sorely disappointed when this was not available. We were at Queenstown earlier and would have made time to visit the LOTR merchandise shops there had we known you would cancel this part of the tour highlighted. Alas it was our last day in NZ and my daughter was extremely disappointed as she had promised some small souvenirs for her friends back home. (Ed. We will follow this up, thanks for highlighting)

The LOTR tour was the highlight of my time in New Zealand and I am not an LOTR fanatic, in fact it was an add on tour done at the last moment. Our Tour Guide had won two Academy Awards (sound mixing) including one for LOTR3 and nominations for the other two - that is just impossible to beat. He is the first guide I have even asked for an autograph from. Obviously extremely knowledgable, but also humble, the best of what NZ is all about. Location, views, speak for themselves. Just take the tour.

Being a fan of the LOTR, and from viewing the tour highlights on the internet, I had to take advantage of this tour during my holiday to Christchurch. By all accounts, it was most enjoyable and definitely worth doing. Dale was the tour guide on the day of my tour and besides myself, there were 5 others. Small groups are always the best and we all got along really well. Dale did a great job, was friendly, engaging, knowledgeable and was always there if we had additional questions, whether it was LOTR aligned or concerning New Zealand itself. The travelling time was not a problem, and the video features (e.g. behind the scenes in the making of the LOTR and cast and crew backstage interviews etc) which were aired in the 4WD made the tour even more enjoyable. The scenery as we travelled across the countryside was amazing, very beautiful. The walk to the summit of Edoras was no problems and taking in the vast open lands, seeing the mountains and valleys and plains below was something that makes New Zealand such a stunning destination. Mind you, we we also were carrying movie replica weapons. We had three types of swords, a battle axe and also a flag which we could use for photo opportunities once we reached the summit of Edoras. Dale also showed us some still shots from the LOTR movies and then showed us where they corresponded to in real life. The weather was cloudy for the start of our tour but just like magic, the sun then broke through and we had blue skies with patches of white clouds for the photo opportunities once we reached Edoras, you couldn't ask for anything better! Lunch was very nice and for the trip home, we stopped at a few locations for last minute photo opportunities. Even if you are not a LOTR fan, this tour certainly is worth doing because you get to see so much of the beautiful countryside and learn more about New Zealand at the same time.

Good tour with a very informative guide. He provided a running commentary throughout the tour and also included details of the earthquake effects while driving through Christchurch as well as some topical information in the farming areas. The Edoras visit was very informative and entertaining. Having a sword on hand for photos opportunities and having copies of scenes from the movie to orientate one's self was a nice touch. The meal following the movie set visit was a good opportunity to get to know the other people on the tour. Overall, a very enjoyable full day tour.

This was the perfect way to start my New Zealand trip. I couldn't have hoped for more. Our tour guide, Rex, was fantastic. His stories combined with the video snips made the long drive pass quickly. The little tea shop where we stopped had some of the best gluten free food I had in NZ (you MUST try the gluten free sausage rolls if you can, I couldn't find them anywhere else). It was windy and cold when I went, and I confess I did not make it to the top of the mountain (it was much steeper than it looked) but the views were still amazing. It was probably my favorite experience while I was in New Zealand. If you are a LOTR fan, you can't miss it!

Great Tour! Our guide was very knowledgeable and made the entire day one I will never forget. This tour made my entire two-week stay in New Zealand and Australia worth every penny! The entire experience far exceeded my expectations, and as a Tolkien fan of over 40 years, I was hoping for a great deal. My day up to the spectacular Mt. Sunday valley was a smash hit!

On a number of levels, the experience was truly exceptional. It's hard to see all of a country in just a couple weeks, but the drive was a great chance to see the Canterbury region and learn a lot about the culture from our guide along the way. The Rakaia Gorge was almost as compelling as the Edoras site itself. I would highly recommend this tour to those wanting not only a picture of a remarkable LOTR site but also a chance to experience rural New Zealand.

This was an excellent day tour from start to finish. I was lucky enough to be on a tour led by a member of the film crew, and his insight into the making of all three films and how the locations were sought, built and then dismantled was an added extra. Lots of great scenery and a good fun experience.
