Rotorua & Waitomo Sightseeing Coach Tour | The Waitomo & Rotorua Experience

Rotorua & Waitomo Sightseeing Coach Tour | The Waitomo & Rotorua Experience

This tour enables you to visit the Waitomo Glowworm Caves and a number of leading attractions in Rotorua, including a Farm Show and Te Puia with its mighty geysers & boiling mud pools, and a cultural performance of Maori song and dance inside Te Puia’s sacred meeting house.

While onboard your coach from Waitomo to Rotorua, a picnic-styled lunch is served. After an action-packed day enjoy a delicious afternoon snack, including traditional Maori rewana bread as you return to Auckland.

Geothermal Phenomena - From the moment you arrive, the scent of sulphur tells you that Rotorua is different. Steam escapes from crevices in the ground, gardens bloom alongside bubbling craters and geysers shoot for the sky.

Cultural Hub of New Zealand - Voted New Zealand's most beautiful city six times, Rotorua’s striking gardens, cobbled streets and fascinating mix of Maori culture and English Tudor architecture give the city a significant point of difference.

Maori Spirit - In Rotorua’s geothermal villages, the tradition of guiding and sharing cultural heritage has been passed down through the generations. You'll find it expressed with true warmth and energy.

All good. We had direct line to Waitomo Caves and right on time for Maori performance. And the guide Rachel is amazing, she keep talking all the way on bus explaining about our trip and New Zealand. Very informative. Well done.

The driver was knowledgeable and his safe driving made our trip really comfortable. The Waitomo glowworm caves were absolutely stunning! The Agrodome was also a fun experience. The packed lunch and snacks were delicious. The Maori show was a delight! It would have been a 5 star experience if we had more time to gaze at the geysers. - it was roughly 15 minutes or so. Also, it was slightly confusing with people dropping off at different locations since the group was made up of individual tourists with varied itineraries. You could have informed us of this in advance.

Our tour guide/ driver (Rachael) was very informative and professional. 45min cultural show was a bit too long, it would be better if we were given more time exploring Agrodome or Te Puia Thermal Reserve.

The city tour was good , however at Kelly Tarlton's it was a bit rushed, should have given more time there. The line to enter Kelly Tarlton's took about 10 minutes.

The tour operated as as advertised. It is a full day and I believe tries to do too much. My main interest in visiting Rotorua was really the thermal area of geysers etc. We had a lengthy drive to the glowworm caves to see a few bright lights on the ceiling, I think it is a rather overrated pastime. In Rotorua, the Agrodome experience was very good but far too long was spent on the Maori heritage show and not enough on viewing the Geysers and Mud pool and only a short time was available before we had too leave.

We had an informative and fun filled day. Loved to Waitmo Caves, the Agrodome and, of course the Rotorua geysers and mud pools. Excellent driver and commentaries on board the bus and at the attractions. Thanks for your help, Toni.

Good tour, knowledgeable driver, timekeeping not always the best so end of the day became a bit rushed at Rotorua. Highlight of day has to be Maori performance at Rotorua and the Maori guide at the geysers, shame that that was the part that we ran short of time on.

Would have been nice to know there was not a breakfast stop. Hotel did not start breakfast service until 6.30am to early for us. Not enough time at Te Puia. Long day, but worth the trip.

Really awseome day, couldn't fault any of the day's events or the people involved. It was a full day of fun and adventure. I was worried about the price and not knowing exactly what you get for it, but it was well worth it. Bus driver was great & all tour guides were friendly and knowledgeable. Thanks for a wonderful kiwi experience!

Absolutely wonderful day! Kenny was our coach driver, and he was awesome! He narrated the entire tour and shared so many interesting and important facts about New Zealand. He was kind, personable, professional, and very patient with everyone. He answered every question; took care of everyone's needs, and kept the day full of enjoyment. The coach was clean and comfortable. The snacks and lunch were delicious and better than I expected. It was more than worth the cost because of Kenny, the beautiful scenery, the attractions, the food, and the comfort of the coach.

Everything we went to was great but it was just too rushed and far too much in one day. We only had 45 minutes after the cultural show to look visit the entire area in Rotorua which was very disappointing after such a long drive to get there. Although we don't have dietary requirements, we didn't realise that our food was going to only be sandwiches and cakes with no coffee or caffeine. I think a simple menu to choose from would have been more appropriate (eg. I would have chosen a wrap instead of sandwich, coke instead of water) or if I knew what was going to be provided, I would have brought my own drinks and snacks.

Our driver was very good, most courteous and polite. He was very knowledgable and pointed out various things of interest throughout the trip. He also seemed to know when we wanted quiet time. Everything we saw was great. My friend had never been to NZ and was most impressed with everything. Thank you.

The long day didn't seem long because the trip was very comfortable and efficiently run. Our driver-guide's commentary kept us entertained on the outbound journey. It was a great mix of the modern and historical as we passed the various towns. We especially enjoyed his comments on modern NZ life, such as sports, taxes and healthcare. Sure some of it is only one man's opinion (and he's obviously proud of his country), but it's the kind of thing you can't read in a brochure or travel guide.

At first it seemed that we had no booking until I realised that we were booked as Mr and Mrs Keri, my christian name. This caused some angst for a time. We really enjoyed the Waitomo Caves and Rotorua but could have spent more time at both and missed the Agrodome. (We have plenty of farms in Australia but understand that some may find it interesting.) My gluten free lunch did not arrive, causing the bus driver some extra hassle, and I'm not confident that the early morning muffin was gluten free. This is not a lifestyle choice but a serious health issue. A spray jacket left on the bus was not located though we phoned as soon as we arrived back at our hotel and again the next day. Over all though the experience was enjoyable. There was also some confusion about who was returning us to our hotel.

This was a really good tour. Considering there was a lot of travelling from Auckland, there was a lot packed in. The only slight dissapointment was having ordered a vegetarian lunch which I received,( and was excellent), we were provided with a snack in the evening, which was a chicken sandwich! The bus driver did not seem to grasp that vegetarians could not eat this and was a bit dismissive. (There was a large family of vegetarians beside myself on the tour, which meant probably a higher proportion than normal of the tour party. This is the only criticism, as it was a wonderful day, and the driver was very pleasant and informative. Despite being a very cold day, I enjoyed the tour and would reccomend it to anyone.

I thoroughly enjoyed the trip,it was very well organised and there was pleny information commentary by the driver and tour guides. I would have preferred less time on the farm amd more time at Rotorua as I felt the time there was a little rushed, however that would be my only criticism.

We had a excellent day. The tour guide was informative and had humorous. We particularly enjoyed the time at Te Puia but felt it was very rushed. Only 10 minutes to see the geysers was way to short. The time spent at the farm was good but to long, we would have liked more time in Te Puia. Overall the highlight of our trip. Thank You

We had a fantastic holiday in New Zealand. It is our best relaxing and enjoyable holiday. We learned a lot about the beautiful country from the well- spoken and knowledgeable tour guides. Great Sights is a very professional tour company. They have nice and pleasant staff and magnificent transport facilities as well as rest points venues in between the long day tours. The Waitomo and Rotorua Experience is highly commendable. (GS16L). Our tour guide and hostess were very professional. Thank you for your website, it was very handy to plan a fantastic holiday.
