Tour Itinerary

Escape to a warmer climate and clear air of Waiheke Island, only 40 minutes ferry journey from the city of Auckland. This is the most cost effective way to have a good day out!

Board the ferry at the Downtown Auckland Ferry Terminal and enjoy a pleasant 40 minute scenic cruise through the Hauraki Gulf. On arrival, you'll be greeted at the wharf by your tour driver and directed to your double decker bus which departs from each hop on hop off location approximately every 30 minutes throughout the day.

Introducing you to the islands top spots; hop on and off as much as you like at any of its 8 convenient stops which include some of the islandís most iconic spots - Oneroa Village, Onetangi Beach, Batch Winery, the new Tantalus winery/brewery, Mudbrick Vineyard and Cable Bay Vineyard to name a few, or if you prefer, stay on board and enjoy a 1 Ĺ hour scenic tour of the island.

Throughout your tour, your driver will talk to you about the island’s history and culture. You'll see Waiheke’s most stunning coastal vistas, as well some of the island's hottest properties; you'll pass beautiful hillside vineyards, look down on sweeping sandy beaches and get a real insider view of island life.

When the tour is over, you can either board the next ferry or take advantage of the complimentary All Day Bus Pass allowing you to further explore the island.

The name Waiheke means "cascading waters" in Maori, but today it is the soil which is highly acclaimed; being the perfect mix of clay and volcanic rock suited to growing grapes of a "wonderful consistency" and "particularly smooth tannins of Cabernet, Sauvignon & Merlot", according to Time magazine. People living on the island are from diverse nationalities and are colourful, creative and passionate about their community and well being”.

  • 5What a relaxing and fun day Waiheke Island was for our first organized activity in New Zealand. The tour was absolutely seamless in terms of arrangements. We had a wonderful stop at beachside with time enough to enjoy ice cream bars. We opted to shop and have lunch in the city center rather than take in a visit to one of the wineries, but friends who did that said they had a fabulous lunch at one of the wineries. We passed on our favorable comments to some other visitors who were looking for a good tour.

  • 5The tour was wonderful. Such a pretty island. Enjoyed it very much. Would do it again. But, I would do the winery tour instead of just the island tour.

  • 3The booking service was good, the ferry was good, the bus was rather old, the guided explanation a little limited, perhaps a map of the island with the guided bus route and stops indicated. We actually ended up having an excellent day - dropping off the bus at Onatangi beach, walking for 2/3 hours in the bird reserve there followed by a drink then a swim, meeting up with a friend, who ran us in her car back to the ferry.

  • 4Very good tour and we felt made better on the day due to the Arts festival cliff top walk that was happening. We did that walk and took lots of pictures.
It was very busy and getting a bus back to the wharf (for the arts tour bus) took some time. We'd have walked but thought (incorrectly) that it was longer and the path was narrow!! Problems of being in an unfamiliar place I guess. ity that the arts tour bus didn't pick up in town and not just at the wharf.

The tour on the island was great and the driver had a very professional manner and good knowledge of the island and history. A very pleasant day at a good price.
