Day by Day Tour Itinerary

Day 1
Nelson

On arrival, make your way to your accommodation. The rest of today is at leisure to enjoy the local sights. The Nelson region is an area of diverse beauty that boasts the greatest number of sunshine hours in New Zealand. It is home to a thriving arts and crafts colony where locals enjoy a relaxed,  easy-going lifestyle. It is also a great base to explore the Abel Tasman National Park with its numerous marine, wildlife and nature based activities.

Day 2
Nelson

Enjoy a full day gourmet wine tour visiting award-winning vineyards and sampling some of the region’s best wines. Nelson’s blend of mediterranean style climate as well as the landscape has produced ideal growing conditions for elegant whites and warm reds.

On your full day gourmet wine tour, you’ll visit many award-winning wineries of the Waimea Plains and Moutere Hills regions, including the oldest vineyard in the South Island. Chat to the owners and winemakers at the cellar door whilst you enjoy sampling a selection of wines made from the ten classic grapes grown in New Zealand. This fun, informative guided tour includes a superb lunch and all wine tastings.

This evening, enjoy a unique dining experience at the iconic Boat Shed restaurant. Standing proudly on the waterfront, with its polished floors and fantastic sea views, its difficult to believe that in the late 1880’s this was a base for boat building.

The restaurant has been the recipient of many awards and industry accolades for its menu, service and extensive wine list. You will thoroughly enjoy the ‘Trust the Chef’ dining experience where the chef chooses a series of dishes for you from the menu of the day and places it in the middle of the table for you to share!

Day 3
Nelson

Free time for some last minute sightseeing before you make your way out to the airport for your onward flight.

We had a wonderful time staying at the very homely and quaint Shelbourne Villa. We loved Val and Wayne's hospitality, friendliness and humour. We would stay with them again whenever we are in Nelson. Unfortunately, the dinner we had at The Boat Shed did not live up to their reputation...they may have had an "off" night. Our Gourmet Wine Tour was quite enjoyable and our tour guide was very knowledgeable and friendly.
