Day 1
Dunedin

Welcome to Dunedin! Pass through customs, collect any baggage and your rental car, then make your way to your accommodation, Fletcher Lodge, located just a few minutes walk from the Dunedin City centre.

The Lodge complex offers luxury accommodation in an atmosphere of restrained elegance while providing the ultimate in contemporary comfort and modern facilities. Built by Sir James Fletcher in 1924 to serve as his private residence whilst he oversaw the construction of the New Zealand and South Seas Exhibition complex, the main historic property offers a rare glimpse of New Zealand’s heritage.

The rest of today is at leisure to enjoy the local sights.

Day 2
Dunedin

Begin this full day nature tour by travelling the scenic coastal road to the Royal Albatross Centre where you can view these magnificent birds in their natural habitat. Enjoy a guided walking tour at Penguin Place. Here you’ll see and learn more about the Yellow Eyed Penguin, the world’s most endangered penguin species.

At Taiaroa Head, board the M.V. Monarch for a one hour wildlife cruise. You’ll enjoy unrivalled viewing of the mainland nesting place of the Northern Royal Albatross and see New Zealand Fur Seals basking in their natural environment. You may also get to see Dolphins, Sea Lions, Blue Penguins and many other species of bird and marine life. The commentary provides an informed and fascinating insight into the history as well as the geology of the area.

Later, you cruise the length of the beautiful Otago Harbour back to the city, passing Port Chalmers and the historic fishing village of Careys Bay on the way.

Day 3
Dunedin

Today is at leisure to further explore the area. Dunedin is often referred to as the ‘Edinburgh of the South’. It is a university city of Scottish heritage that possesses a unique combination of cultural riches, fine architecture and world-famous wildlife reserves.

This vibrant, architecturally splendid city is framed by a magnificent harbour and there is plenty of sightseeing attractions or tours to choose from including visits to historic stately homes, gardens, museums, galleries, golf as well as brewery and chocolate factory tours. You could even book a rail journey through the famous Taieri Gorge and much more.
