Day by Day Tour Itinerary

Day 1
Arrive in Auckland

Welcome to Auckland! Once you’ve moved through customs and collected your baggage, make your way to the SkyCity Auckland located in the heart of the city. You’ve landed on the doorstep of New Zealand’s largest city, an idyllic setting overlooking the forested Waitakere Ranges, the sheltered Manukau Harbour and the island-studded Hauraki Gulf to the north. No wonder over a million people choose to live here!

Beautiful beaches and dreamy offshore islands are just half an hour from the city. In fact, the sea is so much a part of the place that an unusually high number of people own their own boats, giving the city its moniker of the ‘City of Sails’.

Day 2
Auckland Sightseeing

Auckland is set on 52 dormant volcanic cones and is known as the City of Sails. Your morning tour includes Queen Street, Auckland’s central business district, Auckland University and the inner city park known as the Domain. It continues through the picturesque suburb of Ponsonby, with its colonial era homes before heading over the Harbour Bridge. Visit historic Devonport and travel to the summit of Mt Victoria with stunning panoramic views of Auckland City. Then visit Westhaven Marina, one of the largest marinas in the Southern Hemisphere, the Auckland Fish Market and Wynyard Quarter, before continuing on to the Viaduct Harbour.

Only a 30 minute drive from Downtown Auckland brings you to the Arataki Centre, perched high in the Waitakere Ranges, where the sweeping decks give breathtaking panoramic views from the Tasman Sea to the Pacific Ocean. Absorb the local history and admire the magnificent traditional Maori carvings that stand guard there. Head further west and experience the power of the wild and rugged west coast. Feel the black sand beneath your feet as you stroll along some of the most awe-inspiring beaches the world has to offer.

A short journey brings you to the lush rainforest where you walk amongst giant tree ferns and hear native birds. Learn about the fascinating local history, flora and fauna of the region from your guide. This gives a true insight and feel for New Zealand’s unspoiled native forest – a classic Kiwi experience.

Day 3
Auckland & Waiheke Island

Escape to the warmer climate and clear airs of Waiheke Island; a stunning 40 minute ferry cruise through the Hauraki Gulf from Auckland. Your tour guide will greet you on arrival at the wharf. On the island, two excellent wineries, featured in Time Magazine, are visited for wine tastings. They are Stonyridge Vineyard with its ‘Larose’ vintage, which has “sweet blackberry, cassis and plum notes”, and Mudbrick Vineyard with its ‘Reserve Merlot Cabernet’.

At Stonyridge Vineyard you will enjoy a tour, tastings and a sumptuous light lunch. Next stop is Rangihoua Estate, where the annual Olive Festival is held in November. A stop at ‘Wild on Waiheke’ offers optional beer tasting as well as wine, and the chance to sample home grown preserves as well as chutneys. Archery, outdoor chess and other fun outdoor activities are available here.

A final tasting is at the beautiful Mudbrick Vineyard. Once the tour is over, you have the choice of boarding the next ferry back to Auckland, or using your ‘All Day Bus Pass’ to further explore the island with its artists, beaches and wineries.

Day 4
At leisure in Auckland

At leisure to explore the city at your won pace today. In Auckland you can hike through a rainforest, wander through grape-vines and a colourful shopping precinct or kayak to a volcano during the day. At night discover the best of the vibrant nightlife and enjoy world class cuisine.

More than just a city, Auckland is a whole region full of things to see and do. Best of all, with so many experiences close by it’s easy to hop from one adventure to the next.

Tour Reviews

All the tours were very good and paced accordingly, the only criticism would be the Bush & Beach tour!! I don't think everyone was that intersted in the nature walk into the forest, maybe another part of the beach area's would be a little more spectacular. The morning city tour was very knowledgeable and provided a balance between city and urban living.
