My wife Penny and I just completed the Southern Wilderness Self Driving Tour with Relaxing Journeys. We extended our trip at the end to include several days in the Marlborough Region near Blenheim to visit wineries and sample some of the world class wines produced in that area. We totally enjoyed every day of our trip and were thrilled with the accommodations chosen by our travel consultant Leanne Duffield of Relaxing Journeys. Our car, which was a mid sized SUV, provided roomy reliable performance on many curvy roads and reasonable gas mileage for a vehicle of its type. The side adventures arranged for us went off without a hitch with flights and transportation reliably on time. Only one flight in Mt Cook National Park didn't happen due to weather and I received an e-mail the next day promising a refund. Very happy with the service in a country where it's very easy to travel. Already thinking about our next trip to New Zealand which would be our third.

A great tour. We loved the wilderness lodges and the friendly hospitality. We were very lucky with the weather and were able to enjoy the beautiful scenery at its best. The wildflowers were coming out at Arthur's Pass and the lupins were flowering along the roads. The Remarkables at Queenstown however didn't have a lot of snow due to a warm winter but were still beautiful. We could have spent more time in some places but due to our time constraints that would have meant missing out on something else. The tour arrangements went very smoothly and we didn't experience any difficulties.

Great trip, a pity about the weather. We did everything we wanted to do except the Skipper Cannon trip. The wilderness lodges were fantastic. At both, we were looked after and everything was centered around what we wanted to do. Absolutely fantastic. Five stars. Worth another visit. Siberan experience was delayed 5 days but worth the wait. It was really a great adventure. Five stars the Edgewater Resort was our next favourite stay. Wanaka is still small even though progress is commencing. Loved the town and the surrounding drives and walks. Resort was nearly empty but still great. Rive stars. Millbrook Resort was large and not so welcoming. The car is parked a distance from your room (300 mtrs) and no cover from car to room. Not so good in rain and snow. It just seem very spread out and not personal. Arrowtown was quaint and I would stay there rather than Queenstown. Loved the autumn colours. Mt Cook was our lucky day the sun was shinning. Accommodation at Lake Tekapo was very good. The morning greeted us with a blanket of snow. We loved the way we had a few days at every destination as it allowed us to have a great rest. Thank you for your help!
