Be met and transferred to your hotel, which is centrally located in the beautiful harbourside city of Auckland, the ‘City of Sails’. Tonight, enjoy a special welcome dinner and get to know your fellow travellers.

This morning travel to Glenbrook. Take a journey through the beautiful rural Franklin countryside before stopping at the Pukeoware Depot to explore the workshop, view other historic locomotives, and enjoy a morning tea. Re-board and travel back to Glenbrook before returning to Auckland by coach. (B)
After breakfast, board your coach and head towards the Mamaku Ranges near Rotorua for a unique self-drive rail cruising experience. In a hybrid vehicle you will have a front row seat to view the ranges with an audio guide to educate you on the region as well. In Rotorua, visit Te Puia and tour the Māori Arts and Crafts Institute. This evening enjoy a traditional hāngī feast and Māori cultural performance.

This morning travel by coach to Ōtorohanga. Board The Northern Explorer train for a captivating journey through a variety of different landscapes. Continue through to Ōhakune, where you will re-board your coach and travel to Wellington.

After breakfast today set off on a sightseeing tour of the city’s best-loved landmarks and sights, including Te Papa Tongarewa –Museum of New Zealand. Perhaps get a panoramic view of the city and harbour at the Mount Victoria Lookout. You may prefer to simply take a leisurely walk around the waterfront. (B)
This morning step aboard the Interislander ferry to cruise from Wellington Harbour across Cook Strait and through the Marlborough and Queen Charlotte Sounds to Picton. Join the Coastal Pacific train to Kaikōura. Re-board your coach to travel to Christchurch.

This morning after breakfast you will board the renowned TranzAlpine train for what is considered to be one of the world’s greatest rail adventures. Along your journey you will follow the Waimakariri River and travel across the Southern Alps within Arthur’s Pass National Park. Upon arrival at Greymouth, you will disembark and travel by coach to the incredible natural surrounds at Franz Josef and Fox Glaciers.

Enjoy a day of truly beautiful scenery as you travel to the alpine resort of Queenstown. Today you’ll travel through the spectacular Southland countryside to Pukerangi where you will board the Taieri Gorge Railway, one of the world’s greatest train trips. The train snakes through incredible landscapes to the city of Dunedin.

Board the Seasider train today and travel along the edge of the Otago Harbour, and along the Pacific coast. Re-join your coach to Ōamaru. Journey north to view the unusual Moeraki Boulders, then head into Aoraki Mount Cook National Park and marvel at your surrounds. Arrive at your hotel, situated on the shores of scenic Lake Tekapo.

Today, visit the tiny Church of the Good Shepherd. The church rests on the shores of the immense Lake Tekapo with sublime mountainous surrounds. Later, head back to Christchurch where you will enjoy a special farewell dinner.
