Day 1
Arrive Auckland

Be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel, which is centrally located in the beautiful harbourside city of Auckland, the ‘City of Sails’.

Day 2
Auckland - Bay of Islands

Journey north to the Waipoua Forest – one of New Zealand’s most famous kauri forests and the largest of its kind remaining on the North Island. Continue to the stunning Bay of Islands and enjoy a welcome dinner.

Day 3
Bay of Islands at Leisure

The Bay of Islands is also home to 144 islands providing a stunning aquatic playground off the north coast of the North Island. After breakfast today you’ll enjoy a full day at leisure to explore the idyllic subtropical surrounds. Perhaps relax on a pristine beach, explore the stunning wilderness areas via one of the many walking tracks, or set off into town and dine at a local restaurant. (B)

Day 4
Bay of Islands - Auckland

Explore New Zealand’s finest maritime park on a cruise to Cape Brett. This captivating coastline provides sheltered waters for dolphins, whales, seals, penguins and other marine life, so keep a look out while enjoying the scenery. Then continue to the Hole in the Rock, a distinctive arch formation that defines this remarkable coast. Later, return to Auckland.

Day 5
Auckland - Waitomo Caves - Rotorua

Travel to Waitomo today. With a guide, discover the natural spectacle of Waitomo Caves, home to thousands of tiny luminescent creatures and one of New Zealand’s top attractions. Then continue to Rotorua. Visit Te Puia – New Zealand’s premier cultural centre – and enjoy a tour of the Māori Arts and Crafts Institute. See Whakarewarewa Thermal Valley and witness the phenomenal natural spectacle of erupting geysers. Tonight enjoy a Māori hāngī feast with performances of song and dance. Delight in an evening of local customs and cheerful hospitality.

Day 6
Rotorua

Rotorua, positioned on the Pacific Rim of Fire, is one of the world’s most active geothermal areas. The city captures the essence of New Zealand with its geothermal geysers, fascinating Māori culture and rich heritage. Your sightseeing continues with a visit to the Agrodome, with its entertaining sheep shearing demonstration, dog trials and animal nursery. You might choose to experience a special country homestay. Day 7
Rotorua - Taupō - Wellington

Meander along the Thermal Explorer Highway to Lake Taupō, the largest freshwater lake in Australasia, and thundering Huka Falls with its striking blue water. Later, travel south across the vast volcanic plateau of World Heritage-listed Tongariro National Park en route to Wellington.

Depart Wellington

Your wonderful North Island journey comes to an end following breakfast this morning as you transfer to the airport for your onward flight. (B)
