A very interesting tour, reasonably paced most of the time but a long day form Rotorua to Masterton - may have been better to stop in Napier for the night. Coach driver was excellent (both driving and commentary) and tour guide adequate.

With excellent tour guide and driver, Dennis and Chris, we were well looked after and informed as we travelled. Hotels were all 4 star as stated however there were differences. The best for service and food was the James Cook in Wellington. We were moved to a lesser hotel in Paihia which was adequate but not what was expected. The hotel in Rotorua needs some care and attention. A/C unit not working and as it was the weekend they could get no one to fix it. Out of everyone's control was the weather. Standing at Cape Reinga in the wind and rain I could have been standing at the north end of Scotland (ha ha). Same at the Bay of Islands with rain reducing visibility to about 1km. So it looks like I will have to come back again in the future! As always in New Zealand the staff in hotels were friendly and helpful at all times. I shall return!

Well-organized and well-paced. Capable tour director (Dianne Stanford) with a good sense of humor. Our bus driver, Cole, offered thoughtful insights into NZ's indigenous history. Perfect balance of organized visits and free time. Comfortable accommodations. Interesting for us to be the only Americans in a group of Australians and to have only 13 in the group. Well-chosen visits and commentaries.

Bit of mix up on arrival at Auckland airport - we waited at least an hour for another couple off our flight from Melbourne to discover later that they were flying in from Adelaide! The general travelling and touring was fine. Our only gripe was that the evening meal arrangements were a bit too regimented for us - eating between 6.30pm to 7.00pm - we would have preferred a bit more flexibility but I don't know whether that would be possible.

The tour in it's self was first class, The coach and driver/captain were excellent but the guide although pleasant was very poor with his instructions, we and many of our fellow travellers were confused at times because of the conflicting information given. The hotels were of a reasonable standard although in the hotel Sudimar in Rotorua we had to change our room because of the very poor standard. Our main concern at all the hotels was the food they were all buffet style which was not made clear to us when we booked. The Sky City and the James Cook Grand Chancellor the food was very good with a good choice. The others the quality was not good with limited choices. The Copthorne in particular was very poor,There was not sufficient seats provided for my wife and I to sit together and they ran out of food, and we were unable to have a starter. The hotel offered us a glass of wine in recompense I would not consider sumptuous dinners, as described in the tour sales paperwork to be buffet style.

We had a wonderful tour of the North Island. The accommodation, meals and all of the inclusions were top class. Our driver Linda and our tour guide Rangi were knowledgeable and efficient. Our dealings with Relaxing Journeys was trouble free and everything went smoothly. I would highly recommend Relaxing Journeys and Grand Pacific Tours to any of my friends who may be planning a trip to New Zealand.

Hotel WiFi limited for hotel at Wellington & Wairapapa. While hotel at Wairapapa room cleanliness not up to standard. Quite dirty. Room at Wellington window sound proof bad. All day we heard the wind sound. Overall pretty good especially coach Mr Kelvin & Mr Paul tour guide. They very nice, helpful, presentable & kind. Lunch time very short due to need rush for next itinerary.

The only portion of the trip that was not up to high standard was the pick up at Auckland airport due to the search required for the duty person and the length of time before we boarded our coach to the hotel. Somehow this must be smoother. The Sudima hotel breakfast lacked the variety as others but still ok. The Auckland Hotel - Star City was generally catered to gamblers and TV lacked any real news and good TV, although its location was ideal. The visit to the islands excellent but the trip to see the sculptures was quite dangerous and should have been advised. Excellent Bay of Islands, Rotorua and glad to be in Napier during their celebration weekend. The tour guide was impressive in his knowledge and the tour captain was good and precise - happy with both. We also had good quality time in Wellington with family and friends - this was on top of a very good tour and our tour group was a good one.

A thoroughly enjoyable tour with much to see and do. From our first contact with our tour consultant, Leanne, we were impressed with her efficiency and the attention we received. Leanne was a mine of information and always quick to respond to any queries we had. Grand Pacific, our touring company, were equally as attentive and their organisational skills exemplary. Special mention must be made of our tour host, Garry, whose relaxed and witty manner was appreciated by all, and also to our superb driver, Linda. What she doesn't know about New Zealand probably isn't worth knowing anyway. What struck us both most was the obvious pride she has in her country and the passion with which she delivers her commentary. The banter exchanged between Garry and Linda kept everyone amused and helped engender a relaxed atmosphere for the travellers.

No tour is ever going to satisfy anyone 100%, but the criticisms we do have are all minor, and wouldn't prevent us from recommending others to take the same tour. Some stops were regretfully brief, especially when the time to explore was further reduced by having to find and eat lunch. Comfort stops were often similarly rushed, but that was mainly due to the inability of serving staff to cope with a sudden influx of customers. Some of the optional extras were over-priced, but that is not the fault of Grand Pacific or Relaxing Journeys. The included highlights were many, interesting and enjoyable. We heard many favourable comments from passengers who were surprised and delighted by the 'value for money' aspect of the tour.

Accommodation also frequently exceeded expectation, with even the poorest example being perfectly adequate, whilst the best examples bordered on luxurious. New Zealand is a great place to take a vacation, with the best of everything one looks for around the world all conveniently found within easy reach. From pristine beaches to rolling green hills and snow-capped mountains, the scenery is spectacular. The people are welcoming, laid back and possess a good sense of humour. Yes, a wonderful country. And Relaxing Journeys offers a fantastic way to discover for oneself the Land of the Long White Cloud. Thank you Relaxing Journeys, we'll be back.

Couldn't fault our tour, it exceeded all expectations. The coach driver, Cole, was excellent. The programme of events excellent. The thoughful touches like having our cases already in our rooms made a huge difference. The only suggestion I could possibly make was to ask the hotels to consider having an A4 sheet of current news. We didn't get time to get newspapers. In Europe, the four and five star hotels provide a one page resume applicable to major countries. Would definately recommend to friends. My congratulations in providing such a super tour, having such a superb country to show off is the icing on the cake! I'll do South Island next time.

I just wanted to let you know what a great time we had on our recent tour of the north island of NZ. Geoff our driver was excellent, full of knowledge and nothing was too much trouble for him, he really looked after us. Our group of 26 people on the tour was fantastic, everyone got on really well and we had lots of laughs and fun times and made some new friends, hopefully for life. All of the hotels we stayed at were great, some better than others and I would say the same about the meals. The sights we saw were fabulous and at Paihia on our free day we did Darryl's lunch cruise to Russell. This was fantastic and it was probably our first chance to really get to know some of our group, and Darryl was a pleasant funny guy. This was the first time we have done an organised tour and we will look forward to doing the South Island tour some time in the future.

The coach, accommodation and meals were on the whole very good. The Pullman was the best of the accommodation. The coach driver was informative but a bit too down to earth, he assumed that being Australian (mostly Australians on the tour) meant that the humour, DVD's etc could be aimed at a fairly basic level. It would be good for coach guides to understand that people are all different but generally go touring to see and learn about new places. A few of the longer days were lengthened by the coach driver adding things he was wanting to do (the beer factory added an hour to a day that had already been 7 hrs in the bus). The passengers then need to rush into the next accommodation and get to meals within an hour instead of having time to get their bearings. These are not earth shattering things as you can see I have rated the trip very well but I still felt it could have been improved.

Very well organised - excellent Coach Captain - comfortable coach. In general rooms and beds were comfortable although the carpets in one of the bedrooms at the Pullman Auckland was dirty/stained and needed replacing. What is wrong in NZ is the charge for internet access - totally unacceptable in this day and age. Some of the breakfasts were very poor (Heartland in particular). The Pullman was the best followed by Wellington - eggs/omelettes need to be prepared while you wait. The set menu for dinner at the Pullman and Heartland were very good + the buffet at Wellington, the others were average. Very disappointed with the visit to the 'dairy farm' although an excellent lunch. We only saw one cow in the distance (could have been a cardboard cutout!) and the guide did not appear to know much about the detail - it was something I was really looking forward to as I come from a farming background. We had an enjoyable holiday.

We went on an eleven day coach tour of the North and South Island of New Zealand. The tour started in Auckland and ended in Christchurch. (Ed. This tour has since been shortened to a 9 day tour finishing in Wellington). Everything went fine the tour was good value for money, the accommodation was superb the personnel involved with the coach tour were well organised and appeared to be quite experienced. We had a wonderfull time and we would recommend the coach tour to anybody contemplating to go on a similar tour. Thanks again to Kirby for following up the progress associated with the details of the tour. Compliments of the season to everyone at Relaxing Journeys.

It was memorable and and we truly enjoyed the journey. Our coach captain Mr Evrard has been truly wonderful. There was some parts of the itinerary (like at Greytown where we spent about 2 hours without doing anything but a stroll through the main street that tooks us less than 15mins to complete) where the stop was more of time-wasting than anything else as there were better towns where we could stopped by and spent more time with. It would also have been better if our rooms were given on twin share basis, i.e. one king size bed (instead of 2 singles as was the case in some rooms along the trip) but overall the tour was a beauty. Well done! Hope to do more tours with you in the future.

I cannot believe we have been back from the Antipodes for a month now. I just wanted to let you know what a wonderful holiday we had in NZ, it was so relaxing, so beautiful and so well put together for us. And what friendly people we encountered, nothing was too much trouble, just wish we could do it all over again but spend twice the time! Once again, thank you so much for all your efforts, you got it just right for us!
