Day 2
Christchurch - TranzAlpine - Franz Josef

Board the TranzAlpine train and enjoy stunning views from the open-air viewing platform as you pass by the striking patchwork farmlands of the Canterbury Plains. Follow the Waimakariri River and travel across the Southern Alps within Arthur’s Pass National Park. Disembark at Greymouth and travel by coach to Franz Josef, taking in the dramatic terrain of the region, from alpine snowfields to verdant rainforests and glacial rivers.

Day 3
Franz Josef - Queenstown

Travel along the Haast River, which offers sublime views. Arrive in Queenstown and choose from four tempting restaurants in which to dine. Sample delicious fresh produce at a Queenstown brewery, or take a scenic gondola
ride to the Skyline Restaurant, enjoying views across Queenstown as you dine. Alternatively, cruise aboard the TSS Earnslaw, a vintage steamboat, or enjoy dinner at the acclaimed Elements Restaurant.

Day 4

Today, personalise your journey by choosing from a range of Freedom of Choice sightseeing activities. Queenstown - Doubtful Sound Overnight Cruise

Board a cruise across Lake Manapouri before travelling by coach over Wilmot Pass to Doubtful Sound. Keep watch for fur seals and Fiordland crested penguins. During your visit, board an overnight cruise to discover rugged peaks, hidden islets and pristine rainforests.

Day 6
Doubtful Sound - Dunedin

Travel to Dunedin this morning, often referred to as being the Edinburgh of the South. Wander the streets and admire the historical buildings still standing in immaculate condition.

Taieri Gorge Railway Journey

Day 8
Dunedin - Seasider Train - Aoraki Mt Cook

Board the Seasider train and travel along Otago Harbour before climbing the gentle slopes of Port Chalmers. Rejoin your coach and journey to Oamaru. Head north to see the unusual Moeraki Boulders. Scattered across the Koekohe Beach, these large, spherical stones were formed more than 60 million years ago. Continue to World Heritage-listed Aoraki Mt Cook National Park to see Australasia’s highest mountain, then head to the Sir Edmund
Hillary Alpine Centre.

Day 9
Aoraki Mt Cook- Lake Tekapo - Christchurch

After breakfast, drive along the spectacular shores of Lake Pukaki to Lake Tekapo. Here you will visit the tiny Church of the Good Shepherd. Built from locally gathered stone and oak, the church was erected as a tribute
to the early pioneers of the area. Take a quiet moment to enter the church and gaze out onto breathtaking views of the immense lake and surrounding alpine vistas. This afternoon, continue to Christchurch.

Christchurch - Coastal Pacific Train - Wellington

Board the Coastal Pacific train this morning and enjoy a journey through the rugged east coast. Traverse rolling fields and glimpse hidden towns along the Kaikoura coast, famous for marine mammal encounters. Say goodbye to the South Island and step aboard the Interislander ferry, cruising across Cook Strait and passing through Marlborough and Queen Charlotte sounds to Wellington.

Enjoy morning tea before riding the Mt Ruapehu Gondola for sublime vistas, before travelling to Tongariro National Park for a night at the historic Chateau Tongariro Hotel.

Day 13
Tongariro National Park - Rail Cruising Experience - Rotorua

Travel to Taumarunui where your rail cart awaits for a self-drive rail experience along a decommissioned line. Travel through tunnels, over bridges and past charming towns through the landscapes of Whanganui National Park, before a picnic lunch. This afternoon, board your coach for Rotorua, known for its mud pools, geysers and hot springs. This evening, immerse yourself in Māori culture during a traditional Hāngī Feast and cultural performance.

Day 14

Experience the icons of Rotorua at the Agrodome Farm Show, then visit the Te Puia Thermal Reserve, the centre for Māori culture.
