Tour Itinerary
A return scenic cruise from Queenstown to Walter Peak High Country Farm on board the vintage steamship TSS Earnslaw. During the cruise across Lake Wakatipu to Walter Peak, receive complimentary crudités and visitors may purchase pre-dinner drinks at the licensed bar.
On disembarking at Walter Peak, visitors are welcomed and escorted through the lakeside gardens to the Colonel’s Homestead where they are seated for dinner. The resident pianist provides background music and on colder nights open fires create a cosy atmosphere.
The carvery style buffet features New Zealand specialties – roast meats, fresh seafood, salads and vegetables followed by traditional desserts. A range of wine and other beverages are available for purchase from the bar.
Following the meal, visitors have the option of a brief farm show or relaxing in the bar before returning on board the TSS Earnslaw to Queenstown. A tradition is the TSS Earnslaw's sing-along around the piano on the return journey. Suitable for all ages.
Evening Carvery Buffet
A traditional carvery dinner featuring poached or smoked Akaroa salmon, steamed greenlip mussels, seafood salad, a selection of cured and smoked cold cuts, with gourmet pickled vegetables, garden fresh salads and a selection of dressings.
Roast beef with Yorkshire pudding, roast lamb, lamb shanks in a rosemary and garlic sauce, beef casserole, chicken ragout, seasonal selection of seafood, chef’s vegetarian dish of the day, gourmet potatoes, garden fresh vegetables.
The dessert selection offers fresh fruit salad with cream, homemade apple crumble and vanilla custard, pastry chef’s warm pudding of the day, traditional pavlova with a fruit coulis, biscuit roulade, cheesecake, lemon meringue pie and New Zealand cheeseboard. Freshly brewed coffee and tea are also included.
Bar Facilities
Full bar services operate on board the TSS Earnslaw as it cruises to and from Walter Peak and in the Colonel’s Homestead.

- Cruise on the 1912 coal fired vintage steamship TSS Earnslaw. (TSS Earnslaw will be on survey late May - early July.)

- English commentary is provided by the skipper and farm demonstrator. Interpretation handouts are available in the following languages: English, German, Japanese, Thai, Korean and Chinese

- Note: The TSS Earnslaw will be on survey late May – early July and during this period a launch will substitute for the TSS Earnslaw.
