Tour Itinerary
A return scenic cruise from Queenstown to Walter Peak High Country Farm on board the vintage steamship TSS Earnslaw. Full bar services operate on board the TSS Earnslaw as it cruises to and from Walter Peak and in the Colonel’s Homestead.
Following the 40 minute cruise from Queenstown, disembark at Walter Peak for a BBQ lunch. The BBQ is cooked on the terrace in front of the Colonel’s Homestead overlooking Lake Wakatipu and is then served either on the terrace, or when the weather is not suitable, inside the Colonel’s Homestead.
Before or after the BBQ, visitors may wander amongst the farm animals (sheep, red deer, alpacas, Scottish Highland cattle) and join in the farmyard walking tour, which includes sheep dog handling and sheep shearing demonstrations.
There is also plenty of opportunity to relax in the lakeside gardens. Souvenir shopping is available at Walter Peak from the ‘Woolshed’ before boarding the TSS Earnslaw for the return cruise to Queenstown. Suitable for all ages.
BBQ Lunch
Bread rolls, steamed fish served on rice with sweet chilli sauce, beef steaks, pork and parsley sausages, grilled lamb chops with mint sauce, honey ginger marinated pork spare ribs, grilled chicken drumsticks with honey and soy sauce, vegetarian special of the day, baked jacket potatoes, garden fresh salads, fresh fruit salad and cream, New Zealand cheese board, freshly brewed coffee and tea.
The BBQ is adapted to suit the differing nationalities by the Walter Peak chef, i.e. accompanying baked potatoes, Asian vegetables, noodles, or rice option (plus special condiments).
