1/2 Day Hobbiton Movie Set & Farm Tour From Rotorua

Tour Itinerary

After departing the Lake Rotorua area your coach will take you across the scenic Mamaku Ranges & through the native Fitzgerald Glade before arriving in the Waikato Region & the Rolling Hills of “The Shire”

Continue through the picturesque 1,250 acre sheep farm with spectacular views across to the Kaimai Ranges, where your guide will escort you through the ten acre Hobbiton site recounting fascinating details of how the Hobbiton set was created.

The Hobbit holes, Green Dragon Inn, Mill and other structures created for The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit films can be viewed and you will see how this beautiful piece of Waikato farmland was transformed into The Shire from Middle-earth.

Upon completion of your tour of the set you will return to “The Shires Rest” to enjoy the Sheep Farm Experience and a light snack before returning to Rotorua.

Free transfer available from other points. Times vary depending on your pick up point and the EXACT time will be advised with your confirmation.

Tour Inclusions:

• Pickup and return can be arranged from any Hotel/Motel/Backpacker or B&B etc in the Rotorua Central Business District. 
• Travel by coach from Rotorua to the farm
• Tour starts with a drive through the 1,250 acre sheep farm
• Guided escort through the 10 acre Hobbit movie set
• Tour ends at the Shires Rest Cafe where you can enjoy the Sheep Farm Experience
• Return transfer to Rotorua

• Frequency: Departs daily
• Departure Point: Tourism Rotorua, 1167 Fenton St, or organised pickup point.
• Departure Times: at 8:30am or 1:30pm - These times are for pickup from Turism Rotorua, 1167 Fenton St. If being picked up is from another point, an exact time will be advised on confirmation.
• Duration: 4 hours 30 minutes.
• Return Details: 1pm or 6pm (approx)
• Closed: Christmas Day
