Christchurch is the largest city in the South Island and one of the most beautiful in New Zealand with its large public gardens, parks, river and majestic backdrop of the Port Hills.

Join us on our classic 1964 Routemaster Double Decker bus for a fun and informative 3 hour tour. You'll discover first hand why Christchurch is known as the ‘Garden City’ and considered one of the most English style cities outside of England. You’ll discover Christchurch, visit two historic homesteads, travel to the picturesque seaside village of Sumner and enjoy the breathtaking views from the Port Hills overlooking Lyttelton, Christchurch, the Canterbury Plains to the Southern Alps. Learn about Christchurch’s fascinating history from the pioneering days through to modern day time.

Tour Inclusions:

• Inner City Highlights - Following the devastating earthquake on 22 February 2011 a cordon was put in place around Christchurch's inner city making this area off-limits to the general public. On tour we will circuit the cordoned area and hear about plans to rebuild, restore and re-establish some of its most iconic and heritage buildings after a major event in New Zealand's history. Our guide will explain the new vision for the city to see Christchurch become a world class model for the 21st century. You will view city highlights including the Bridge of Remembrance, Arts Centre, Christchurch Art Gallery the Botanic Gardens and much more.
• Historic Homesteads - Visit Riccarton House and Deans Cottage built by the pioneering Deans family. Deans Cottage is the oldest standing building on the Canterbury Plains.
• Picturesque Seaside Sumner - Visit the quaint seaside village of Sumner, here you will have time to explore the beach and Cave Rock while taking in the beautiful views of the sea towards the Southern Alps.
• Port Hills/Sign of the Takahe - Travel up the Port Hills to the Sign of the Takahe for breathtaking views overlooking Christchurch City, the Canterbury Plains and the Southern Alps.
• Experience - Enjoy the fantastic viewing and experience the old world charm of riding the top deck on board our beautifully restored classic Double Decker bus.
• Local Christchurch Guides - Our guides will bring the rich history of Christchurch to life with entertaining and informative commentary.
