1 Day Cape Reinga & Ninety Mile Beach Tour

Tour Itinerary

Departing from the Bay of Islands, this full day tour takes us to Cape Reinga, at the very top tip of New Zealand. According to Maori legend, spirits departed from here, on their journey to the homeland.

On your way, visit an ancient Puketi Kauri forest, with a 20 minute boardwalk past 1,000 year old Kauri trees and native bush. At Cape Reinga stand on the wind-swept tip, watching the currents swirl as the Pacific Ocean collides with the Tasman Sea.

Sand boarding on special boards, down the massive sand dunes at Te Paki Stream, is on offer. We take you to the top and provide the boards to glide down on. Try it if you dare!

Amazingly we can drive along the beach on the vast and empty Ninety Mile Beach. Feel the barrenness of the coast and the salt air environment. Take a beach walk, feel the sand between toes, help your tour guide dig for shellfish in the sand (conditions permitting).

• Bring a hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, walking shoes, camera and a change of clothes for sand boarding
• The tide on Ninety Mile Beach will determine whether your coach travels north or south along the beach and is at the driver’s discretion
