Tour Itinerary

Today your driver guide will pick you up from your hotel and together we will set out to discover the wonderland of the historic Waitomo Glowworm Caves.

Set deep in the heartland of the King Country you will explore the underground labyrinth of ancient limestone caves and formations created over millions of years, and marvel at a galaxy of tiny lights in the famed Glow-worm Grotto.

We travel south from Auckland through rich farmland of the Waikato Province, following the mighty Waikato River, New Zealand’s longest, past the historic Maori land war site at Rangiriri and through the small town of Ngaruawahia, home of the Maori queen, to Otorohanga and Waitomo Glowworm Caves.

Next up, lunch (included in the tour price) at Roselands, nestled amongst native bush and lush farmland. Roselands Farm and Garden Restaurant's meals include the finest beef steak or fish, with hot vegetable dishes and freshly made salads, followed by home-made biscuits, cake and fresh fruit for dessert - all of our superb dishes are prepared fresh daily on the premises. The restaurant is fully licensed. Enjoy a relaxed meal then wander through the award winning gardens or browse through their range of possum merino clothing, jewellery and giftware.

After lunch we have the opportunity to visit the Otorohanga Kiwi House where you can view New Zealand's national bird rummaging around in its custom built nocturnal house.

We head back north through the agricultural town of Te Awamutu to Hamilton, Waikato’s largest city.

Here we will have a chance to ramble through Hamilton’s famous City Gardens before continuing on to Auckland, arriving back at your hotel in time for your evening engagements.
