Omarama is situated on the major crossroads of the Mackenzie basin and the Waitaki Valley. From Omarama, Mount Cook itself is just a comfortable drive away.

Queenstown and Wanaka can be reached via the Lindis Pass. Dunedin can be reached via the Waitaki Valley. The roads are excellent and very rarely ever closed, even in mid-winter. Hunting and Fishing guides are available, as well as commercial glider flights.
