We built Hapuku Lodge to give our guests a great night's sleep in one the most beautiful places in the world
The Lodge sits tight between the mountains and the ocean, on a deer stud and olive farm
Designed as a contemporary country inn, with six guest rooms, a separate apartment and its own cafe, Hapuku Lodge positions guests to take full advantage of the Kaikoura experience.
Guest Rooms
Custom designed handcrafted furniture, including, according to our guests, "the most comfortable beds in the South Island"
- Stunning scenery through European tilt-swing windows
- Bathrooms with heated floors and towel racks, granite or marble vanities, and rain-fountain showerheads
- DVD/CD players, flat screen TVs (not too big because surely no one is there to watch TV), 3 data ports for keeping in touch, plus coffee and tea pots
Tree Houses
Five luxury Tree Houses built in the canopy of a native manuka grove are a special feature of Hapuka Lodge. All tree houses feature custom-designed, hand-crafted furniture, tailor-made beds and mattresses and European style bathrooms. The Tree Houses and apartment also have large spa baths and fireplaces.
Cafe
For the third year (03, 04, 05) in a row Cafe Magazine says Hapuku Cafe is the "best cafe on the Kaikoura Coast".
If it's true it's because we focus on simple fresh food, sourced whenever possible from local purveyors and organic growers. We specialize in local seafood, venison and vegetarian dishes.
We make "the best cappuccino in the South Island", according to the judge at the 2004 barista competition, and we offer the widest selection of South Island brewed beers in the world (over 85), along with our favorite South Island wines.
