Auckland - Waitomo - Rotorua
From Auckland travel to the Bombay Hills which signal the end of sprawling city, then the lush Waikato pasture lands take you past Hamilton and on to Waitomo caves for a subterranean boat ride under an eerie canopy of lights. On across the Waikato and the Mamaku Hills to fiery Rotorua. Tonight we enjoy a Maori Hangi (feast) and Concert, a quintessential New Zealand experience. Overnight in Rotorua.

Rotorua Sightseeing - Auckland
This morning you will be met at your accommodation for your morning sightseeing tour of this city. Rotorua sits calmly atop some remarkable cracks in the earth's crust - sometimes giving the impression that the town is on fire. This impression is reinforced by the hot mists of Te Puia, roaring geysers and boiling mudpools heated to unbearable temperatures. These contrast with the calm of the marae grounds and the work of the artisans at the Arts and Crafts Institute. Also see the Kiwi House, displaying these rare, native birds. Other highlights on your tour of Rotorua are the native and exotic vegetation at Rainbow Springs, which are world renowned for their pools of tame trout. The Agrodome Farm display features a vital section of New Zealand's agriculture, sheep shearing and a sheep dog display. This afternoon leave Rotorua and return to Auckland, arriving at approximately 6.00 pm. |

We certainly enjoyed the tour. Everything went smoothly with all arrangements that you made. While the hotel lobby is a very busy place, it was a good central place for other things we did while in Auckland. It was also convenient that we could leave most of our luggage at the hotel while we were on the overnight trip. Both the Auckland and Rotorua hotels were very good and the breakfasts included were also very good. The coach drivers did a good job of providing information along the way and telling us about New Zealand. The drivers were prompt and courteous and helpful to those who needed some extra assistance. Guides on all the planned activities were pleasant and informative. We enjoyed the activities in both Waitomo and Rotorua. The morning in Rotorua was very packed with places to visit and it would have been nice to have a little more time between each stop. However, we also realized that programs are only given at certain times and you have to work around that. With that said, we would not have wanted to miss any of the places you planned for us and know that things like this happen. Thank you for your part in making this a very enjoyable trip.
