Christchurch - Queenstown
Depart Christchurch travelling through the Canturbury Plains and onto Tekapo. Pass by spectacular scenery and continue south arriving in Queenstown in the late afternoon. Stay 2 nights in Queenstown.

At Queenstown
Today is a free day for you to enjoy this fabulous alpine resort. We have included the Skyline Gondola in your tour. There are dozens of optional activities from thrilling jet boat rides to leisurely lake cruises, 4WD safaris and bungy jumping. |

Queenstown - Glaciers
Travel to Cromwell and on through
the Southern Lakes district to the Haast Pass. Travel north, through dense rain forest broken by rugged coastal vistas, towards the glaciers. A shuttle will take you to view one of these massive rivers of ice. Soak up the beauty of snow-capped mountains contrasting with the deep greens of the native bush. Fox and Franz Josef Glaciers both extend 12 kms from the high snow fields of the Southern Alps. Time permitting, both glaciers are worth seeing, but understandably with only one night time is a bit limited, so you might consider staying another night. Stay tonight in Fox or Franz Josef Glacier townships.

Glaciers - Christchurch
Travel north along the narrow, bush clad, coastal plain past Hokitika, to Greymouth. Board the renowned TranzAlpine train and travel through the Otira Tunnel, over Arthur's Pass and across the Canterbury Plains to Christchurch, arriving early evening. |

Recent heavy workloads for myself and partner meant that we were only able to grab a 5 day break in New Zealand. So it was important that we made the most of it! And that certainly happened with the help of Toni and the team at Relaxing Journeys. Toni, thank you very much for arranging our whirlwind tour of the lower South Island. The drivers were great, accommodation fantastic (had the best room in the place at Queenstown) and all the pickups and transfers happened seamlessly. Certainly will be back in touch when we are able to once again visit NZ. Thanks again.

My daughter, her friend and I really enjoyed our tour. The bus drivers were knowledgeable, courteous and helpful (a tip of the hat to Peter, who rescued my daughter's friend's lost wallet). The day in Queenstown was very pleasant, and the views from the top of the gondola ride were spectacular. We were impressed by the quality of the hotel in Queenstown! Being able to take photos of the Alps from the open train car on the TransAlpine Express was wonderful. The only real disappointment of the tour was not having longer to spend at the Fox Glacier, as we would have loved time to take a guided tour onto the glacier. Perhaps your description of that part of the tour could be clearer - that if a glacier walk is desired, an extra day at one of the glaciers would need to be added. Additionally, the last bus driver kept us some extra time at the Bushman's Center, which made us a little later than necessary at the Fox Glacier motel, and the driver who was to take us to the glacier had to be called, as the time on his schedule to pick us up was later than the time on our schedule for the trip to begin. Coupled with the early sunset in late June, we felt rushed during our walk to and from the glacier. We've already 'wow-ed' several friends with photos from our tour, and have told them how easy your tour made it to enjoy the beauty of South Island.

Toni was a great help. I asked for a quote at very short notice, only a few hours on a Friday with the plan to fly out Sunday - Toni was able to organise everything.
