On arrival in the pretty Garden City of Christchurch, be met at the airport by an APT representative and transferred to your centrally-located hotel. After settling in to your room, the remainder of the day is yours at leisure to explore. Perhaps go for a stroll along Christchurch’s pretty Avon River or wander through the central city lanes to uncover some of the city’s best shopping and cuisine. Tonight, dinner is at your leisure. TranzAlpine, Franz Josef, West Coast Specialties Theme Dinner
This morning you travel aboard the TranzAlpine Train to Greymouth and continue to Hokitika by coach and see Pounamu (jade) being carved into jewellery. View Franz Josef Glacier today as you leave this World Heritage-listed region, travelling through Haast Pass and over the Southern Alps. Continue to Wanaka township originally settled during the gold rush era of the 19th century and surrounded by Mt Aspiring National Park. Wanaka, Arrowtown, Queenstown, Dine Around Dinner
Depart Wanaka this morning and journey to the delightful village of Arrowtown. Visit the Lakes District Museum, before continuing to the alpine resort of Queenstown, situated on the banks of Lake Wakatipu. Tonight, thanks to our Dine Around Dinner concept, choose from 14 of the town’s best restaurants, explore Queenstown with our Dining Options. Perhaps choose to take a gondola ride to the Skyline Restaurant and enjoy dinner and spectacular views over the town. Perhaps cruise on the TSS Earnslaw steamboat across Lake Wakatipu to Walter Peak Sheep Station for a sumptuous homestead carvery dinner. This morning travel through the gorgeous Fiordland National Park where lush rainforests meet snow capped mountains. On arrival into Milford we cruise the full length of this beautiful fiord, travelling below famous mile high Mitre Peak. Te Anau, Dunedin, Freedom of Choice Touring
Today, journey via beautiful Lake Manapouri to Dunedin, settled by the Scottish in 1848 and renowned as the Edinburgh of the south. This afternoon, take the opportunity to choose the Freedom of Choice Touring activity that most interests you, and we will include it. Perhaps tour Larnach Castle, New Zealand’s only castle; in keeping with the heritage theme, you may prefer to visit Olveston House; visit Dunedin’s beautiful railway station and board the Taieri Gorge Railway for a journey into the rugged countryside. Or those who like a beer might like to join a tour of Speight’s Brewery and taste the beer that has been brewed on this site since 1876. Today journey north along the coast and stop to view the unique Moeraki Boulders.
