I thoroughly enjoyed the tour which, since you don't have regular tours in the winter was designed especially for me. I was particularly fortunate that sometimes I had a private tour guide as no-one else was doing the tour on that day. I particularly enjoyed my time with Richard from Paradise Tours in Taupo which turned out to be a private tour full of information. I also appreciated Gus from Tongariro Hot Bus who drove me from Turangi National Park to Taupo bus station and went out of his way to show me some Maori villages. Wine tour was very good too as was walking tour around Napier - a fascinating city in terms of architecture. I learned a lot about New Zealand and about Maori culture. Since tour was organized with different companies the only hitch was that a couple of my vouchers had the wrong booking number or company on them. But it got sorted out very easily. Everyone is very friendly and helpful.

My daughter, her friend and I really enjoyed our tour. The bus drivers were knowledgeable, courteous and helpful (a tip of the hat to Peter, who rescued my daughter's friend's lost wallet). The day in Queenstown was very pleasant, and the views from the top of the gondola ride were spectacular. We were impressed by the quality of the hotel in Queenstown! Being able to take photos of the Alps from the open train car on the TransAlpine Express was wonderful. The only real disappointment of the tour was not having longer to spend at the Fox Glacier, as we would have loved time to take a guided tour onto the glacier. Perhaps your description of that part of the tour could be clearer - that if a glacier walk is desired, an extra day at one of the glaciers would need to be added. Additionally, the last bus driver kept us some extra time at the Bushman's Center, which made us a little later than necessary at the Fox Glacier motel, and the driver who was to take us to the glacier had to be called, as the time on his schedule to pick us up was later than the time on our schedule for the trip to begin. Coupled with the early sunset in late June, we felt rushed during our walk to and from the glacier. We've already 'wow-ed' several friends with photos from our tour, and have told them how easy your tour made it to enjoy the beauty of South Island.

We had a wonderful time with Kerry on our tour to Waitomo & Rotorua. He was waiting for us at 7am in front of our hotel and we had a nice view of the countryside on our way to Waitomo. My husband has an interest in horticulture and Kerry was very knowledgeable about the trees and plants. We arrived just in time for the 1st tour of the glow worm caves and we got to see a glow worm snag a moth!! After the tour we were off to Rotorua. Even though the weather was a bit rainy we stopped at lots of interesting places and had a most delicious lunch. We ended out tour at the Agrodome, just in time for the last show of the day. Perfect planning on Kerry's part! On the way home, Kerry took a quick side trip to Hobbitton after hearing that we were planning a Lord of the Rings tour the next week. We arrived back in Auckland just after sunset. A warm thank you to Kerry for a great day full of sights, but we never felt rushed. Just a fun and relaxed day.

I just recently returned from my trip - the 4 day Volcanic venture through North Island. It was a super trip. All independent coach trips. I was wary at first because there were so many pick up and drop offs and I was travelling alone. I was highly impressed with how well it all worked . It was like clockwork. Not one link was missing . Highly enjoyable trip . I'd certainly use your company again.

The 3 days attraction tour was very enjoyable. Sadly, the Kiwi Encounter at the Rainbow Springs Nature Park as well as the organic tour at the Agrodome which would have been enjoyable was not included in the tour. Another hiccup on the trip was the timings of the coach departure from Taupo to Auckland. Had my family and I followed the timings listed on the voucher of a 2:15pm departure, we'd have missed the bus and been in trouble as the bus left the depot at 2pm. As it was, we were one of the last to board and were thus unable to choose our seats. Regardless, the trip was a remarkable success to my family and me considering that we booked the trip with less than a week to spare. We sincerely enjoyed the tour especially the one at Taupo which was guided by Richard whose helpfulness made the tour delightful despite the rainy weather. An unfortunate case of misplacing my camera when arriving at the Suncourt Hotel was quickly resolved when i approached the helpful concierge at the hotel in Taupo. I also thank Toni Harris for patiently answering all my daily queries by email.

The customised independent tour arrangement worked quite well. Flying from point to point in New Zealand was great with no problems. We were met at all points as scheduled. In general the hotels were as expected and most had Guest Laundry which allowed for less luggage. Recommend that all hotel rooms be provided with breakfast as part of the deal. It was not necessary to pay ahead for lunch for any trip since you stopped enough to get something to eat. Would be nice to know ahead the planned stops. Although it rained for 11 of the 14 days we were in New Zealand, the mountains, lakes, and buildings did not change. Toni was quite helpful in deciding what we wanted to do and making the arrangements for the tour.

I fell in love with the West Coast of the South Island. Magnificent country with divine scenery. Our tour guide Ted was just great he knew so much and kept us amused. The driver Tamati was also a perfect gentleman and good driver. The tour was definetely one of the best I have ever done, and I have already recommended this tour to my friends and family overseas. So yes it was to die for and I will visit NZ again on some other tour. Many thanks for the great service as all went to schedule. We had an absolutely wonderful tour of New Zealand, the Tour Guide, Marty, and his driver, Julian, were brilliant. We couldn't have asked for anything more. All the hotels we stayed at were fabulous and everything worked like clockwork each time we arrived at the next hotel. A highlight of the trip for us was flying over the Mt Cook area in a helicopter and actually landing on the snow. Also an absolute highlight was Queenstown - what a place. All the side trips we did were terrific also. Couldn't fault a thing, it was all wonderful.

The tour was absolutely terrifc. My friend and I were the only relatively young ones (we are in our early 30s) but the comradery and good nature of everyone on board was fantastic. The tour itself was all that we could ask for - it went to all the places we had wanted to see on both islands and the planned activities were unbelievable. The tour-guide/coach drivers were very informative and very approachable. Both of them (North and South Island) went out of their way to organise optional extra activities for us and often had a laugh with us over meals. It was also very well organised - the timings and day-plans were comfortable and we never felt that we were rushing from one place to another, at all. I also appreciated that all our bags were shuffled to our rooms each day, on our behalf. I would say confidently that there is nothing I could complain about, except that I wished I could have stayed longer.

We really enjoyed the tour. I was very impressed that on every leg of the journey there were no issues with transportation. Every tour bus or shuttle was on time and all of the people were very friendly. I was also impressed with the knowledge that all of the drivers had about every aspect of your wonderful country. I was disappointed that the weather did not cooperate with us on our stop at Mt. Cook but, as we all know, you can't control the weather. Thank you again for a superb tour.

To coin an old phase, 'you have to see it to believe it'. Brochures, videos, pictures, reading books and researching the internet just doesn't reveal the true beauty of New Zealand. You have to see it, touch it and live it and we did just that. We have traveled most of the world and have seen a lot of countries. New Zealand is without a doubt the most beautiful country I've ever seen. Our thanks and appreciation go to 'Toni' of Relaxing Journeys for her timeless work and continued dedication in putting together a tour that will be remembered for years to come. From the time we arrived in Christchurch airport and were met by super shuttle representatives to the conclusion of our tour everything went like clockwork. The trains, buses, vans were always on time. The hotel accommodations were fantastic. When we arrived at the Te Weheka Inn were greeted by Cris the hotel manager in the parking lot with our room keys in hand and were given an invitation to join him and other guests for a wine welcoming drink. We never had to sign in or sign out. The next morning we were given a free cook to order breakfast before we continued on our trip. Our trip to the Glaciers via a van driven by Brian was very special. Brian's knowledge about the history, the plants, the wild life and the glaciers made this part of our trip very special. The weather was great. We only had 1 or 2 days of clouds and some light rain. Our trip to Milford sound was cloudy and rainy, but we enjoy it to the max. While in Nelson we did the excursion to Abel Tasman National Park. Disembarking from the boat and taking one of the walks was fantastic and I highly recommend it. The scenery was absolutely breathtaking. Ten days was just not enough time to see and do it all..I shall return. Again, our special thanks to Toni and everyone at Relaxing Journeys for making this vacation a dream that came true.

Probably the best trip my wife and I have ever taken to any place in the World. We were on an unescorted tour. What we really appreciated is that we were on two trains and no less than 7 buses. Both trains and the buses were all on time to the minute in departing and arriving. The activities we visited were incredible. We would use this same type of trip to other parts of New Zealand if we ever have the chance to visit NZ again. Thanks.

This was the first time I had ventured on a Guided Tour,so was not sure what was in store for me. But to my surprise it was a wonderful experience. Our 'Coach Captain' Gordon, made every aspect of the tour enjoyable and exciting, with his knowledge of the area, he was very informative and helpful. The itinerary was brilliant. I got more from this tour than I expected. If I ever do another Guided Tour they will have a lot to live up to. Thank you, it was a wonderful experience for me and my friend Wendy Fisher. Everything went perfectly without a hitch. All bookings were ready when we arrived at the accommodation. So, there was nothing to worry about. The entire process from inquiry to completion was handled professionally. I can recommend Relaxing Journeys without hesitation. And good value for money. A couple of recommendations: 1. You should set up an Australian bank account, so there is an alternative to paying by credit card with the surcharge. This was not expected - a minor but annoying feature. Other tour operators do not charge the surcharge for credit cards. With no Australian bank account for RJ, there is no way to avoid this. 2. Maybe you should include a half-day glacier tour as standard. This was one of our highlights, but it is something we had to book outside the standard tour.

Kia ora, we are now home from an excellent trip to NZ where we spent four weeks. Due to the volcanic ash over the UK we were advised by Air New Zealand that we would have to stay an extra week. Oh dear what shame! Anyway our self drive vision of new zealand tour was organised by Relaxing Journeys. On arrival in Auckland we were given a bag with all our vouchers in and a prepared intinery maps etc, which were very easy to follow. We collected our car and we were on our way into Auckland to our hotel. No problems. Over the the next six days we travelled down the North Island to Waitomo caves, Rotorua, Napier, Hawkes bay, we stayed at a great place in Martinborough, Aylstone Retreat surrounded by vineyards. Really great people reccommended. From there onto Wellington. I'm afraid we arrived on easter sunday where it was raining and everything was closed it was dead. Sorry but thats how it was. Monday we crossed over to the South Island on our 3 hour boat trip to Picton. We left the ferry picked up our car and were soon on our way. Next stop Nelson we took the senic route. We arrived in Nelson for a two night stop at the Arthur Wakefield Motor Inn. We took one look and you know this is not the place for you! God it was a shit hole. No way could we stay there for two nights! To say the least we were not impressed so we moved on we did not want to stay in that town. So we were ahead of ourselfs and ended up in Punakaiki a day early. Relaxing Journeys booked us a extra night in Franz Josef to bring us back on course. There were no problems the rest of journey and we enjoyed all the sights of the South Island. Brilliant tour reccommended. Just keep away from the Arthur Wakefield Motor Inn! To those at Relaxing Journeys thankyou for 97% of our trip, and to let you know that in Christchurch we were able to make contact with my wife's family which was a bonus. Great trip - thank you.

It was a great tour but NZ didn't turn on the best of weather for us. We never got to see the top of Mt Cook, and it rained in Milford Sound - the waterfalls were great to experience and we took about 45 snaps of them - they don't have the same impression when seen on our computer screen. We couldn't hear them thundering down the cliff face into the Sound in our photos! We have to say that the courtesy and service we received was second to none, from the suited cab driver who collected us at Christchurch airport to the humour, knowledge and skill of our tour driver. On the whole the hotels were very comfortable and the meals great. Our only disappointment was being put out into an annexe at Fox Glacier where the hotel room lacked several basic comforts. We would have liked to have spent more time in Christchurch, arriving there at 3pm the day before the tour didn't allow us the time to take advantage of the $99 deal the city has to offer to explore more thoroughly. Perhaps Christchurch could have a day of its own? At Shanty Town in Greymouth, how did you organise a wedding in the Chapel? Well done!! The wine tasting at Blenheim didn't live up to my expectations. I had visions of a greater variety on offer - maybe I'm just greedy. I had visions of people giving us the opportunity to sample many of the wines on sale. On the whole, John and I thoroughly enjoyed it, although we were both pretty exhausted on our return to day to day life. Perhaps we're getting a bit long in the tooth and our age needed a more sedate itinerary.

We thoroughly enjoyed our trip to the south island of New Zealand. The scenery is magnificent and the itinerary was excellent. We had mostly fine weather which helps, only a handful of wet or greyish days. Everything went without a hitch and we thank you very much for your meticulous organisation. The voucher booklet with touring atlas in the zip carry folder were a nice touch. We were pleased with the rental car, a Camry, almost brand new. We certainly appreciated the extra comfort, space and performance. It proved reasonably economical too. Accommodation was mostly good. It was clean and tidy and certainly comfortable. The Parkside Motel at Ricmond was probably the best esp. with the pool. Unfortunaely, the Colonial Motel on the main road at Blenheim was incredibly noisy, lots of tucks after midnight, which was a shame! Even ear plugs didn't help. Sometimes, at one night stoppovers, we felt rushed - not enough time to do everything so we tried to balance this over the entire journey. We tried lots of optional adventure act. too. Highlights were the giant flyinbg fox at Cable Bay; the gondola, paragliding and the Shotover jet at Queenstown and the helicopter flight from Whataroa over Mt Cook and surrounds. Here we had to change helicopters halfway up the side of some mountain at 4200 ft. near Gunns Basin (Lord of the Rings)- what a bonus!

We enjoyed very much our brief tour outside of Auckland. Kerry was knowledgeable and provided great information on places he took us and the stories he told us of growing up in the area. He was flexible and suggested things for us to do, such as a wine tasting on our way back to Auckland. He adjusted the tour so we could see the Kauri trees in a reserve north of Auckland, and then we came back to the coast area. He had recommendations for lunch, and took us to the pottery factory, which we loved. The countryside is beautiful and I wish we'd had time to explore more of the North Island. We would love to come back and spend several days also on the South Island. Thank you for arranging this for us on such short notice. We appreciate it.

We had a great holiday and thought that it was very well organised. Accommodation was generally very good, with the possible exception of Wellington, where the room was small. The inclusion of breakfast at all places was a welcome surprise, as was the variety of accommodation. Driving days were very long and maybe there could have been more detail on getting through some of the larger towns. Roads not always signposted that well, so we sometimes did not know if we were on the right one or not. Thought that our Milford Sound day was, although magnificent, very long. It may be better to return to Te Anau that night and then Queenstown the next day, as there was no time to enjoy anything after the cruise. Also worth mentioning that Pancake Rocks was not mentioned on the itinerary but well worth the stop. Everything went very smoothly with the vouchers and we even got upgraded at some places. This was our first trip outside Australia and it certainly was made easy for us. Thankyou so much to Craig and all concerned at Relaxing Journeys. We have had no hesitation in recommending them to others back home. Looking forward to returning to New Zealand at some stage, as there is still a lot we would like to see.

It was our best holiday of our married lives. The tour was perfect, with a great selection of sights, accomodation and transport. We experienced a vast range of what New Zealand had to offer and were stunned with the way the package was put together, despite having booked it over the internet and email from the other side of the world. Our organiser Jarrod did a great job, coordinating our varied and often conflicting requests and managed to make sense of the vast range of requests for our tour, Relaxing Journeys did an awesome job, I would not hesitate recommending them to anyone thinking of touring New Zealand.

For first time travellers to NZ it was a great way to get to see the southern island without the hassle of driving ourselves. We met some lovely people on the tour and because it was a small group we were able to get to know each other better. The highlights of the tour were:- The Glacier at Franz Josef, although it would have been great to have been able to spend more time there. Not sure how you would be able to do that given time constraints, maybe add on an extra day. Queenstown and our accommodation at Millbrook were beautiful. The overnight stay on the Milford Mariner is an experience not to be missed. Stewart Island for the unspoilt and untouched beauty. The only downside was the stay at Twizel, there was nothing appealing about the accommodation. You should get rid of the stay there and perhaps look at an overnight stay near the Church of the Good Shepherd, there appeared to be some nice accommodation overlooking the nearby lakes. Overall a very enjoyable experience and looking forward to our next visit to NZ.

Everyone we interacted with in arranging and conducting the tour was outstanding; Georgina Walpole from Relaxing Journeys, the tour director, Marty, the coach driver John, and Frank who shuttled us to the Christchurch Airport. We lived in New Zealand for nearly a year about 26 years ago and drove to nearly everywhere included in this tour. We selected this tour because we felt that it covered the best places that the South Island has to offer, as we were traveling with friends who had not been to New Zealand before. We thoroughly enjoyed revisiting the many scenic locations and activities that the tour offered. The tour was very enjoyable, and we learned many new things from Marty's commentary. Because of the size of the group, some rest stops were a little inconvenient for the ladies, as there were long lines to use the facilities. However, everyone seemed to accept that condition, and people did not appear to be too upset about it. Based on this experience, we would certainly return to Relaxing Journeys and AAT Kings if we were to travel to New Zealand again.

What can I say? I had the time of my life. I thought the hotels were great and Richard, our guide was beyond great. I wasn't sure what to expect as far as the guide went but Richard proved to be absolutely one of the best parts of the tour. As far as the scenery goes, I never got tired of looking out the window of our tour bus and the views from my hotel rooms were pretty spectacular. On a ten scale I would rate this holiday a ten without question. Thank you very much for everything and I'm glad I chose your company. I have lots of good memories.

A very well organised sightseeing tour which we both enjoyed. It really was a first class cultural experience which gave us an invaluable insight into the life and times and geography of this interesting country. People we have been in touch with since our return and people we will remain friends with for life. Everything ran very smoothly - all very professional but at the same time personal. An excellent tour taking in the most interesting sights in the South Island with spectacular scenery wherever we travelled. The quality of the tour was greatly enhanced by the Coach Captain (Reece Winter) who had a great knowledge of the geography and the history of all the places visited. The organisation of the tour was first rate and all the hotels were excellent - comfortable and well situated with super accommodation and great food. We would certainly recommend Relaxing Journeys and this tour to anyone visiting New Zealand and hope to make further trips ourselves at some time in the future.

Everything worked like clockwork. Everyone was expecting us when we got there even if a bit late. Even when one of the passengers had an accident during a stop the driver dealt with the situation very well and managed to keep reasonably to the schedule. We selected the small hotel /motel option but there were always eateries within easy reach. A thoroughly enjoyable tour would have no hesitation recommending or booking other tours through you. I think we did the tour at the right time leaving Christchurch when the temperature was 25c ish during the day, but when we returned it was 9c and there was new seasons snow on the mountains. Really well organised thank you very much .

We recently returned from the Geysers to Glaciers tour in wonderful New Zealand. Booking our New Zealand trip through Relaxing Tours was a very efficient, effective, and inexpensive way to see the country. From start to finish Jarrod made the planning process simple and painless. He made our additions and special requests to our journey happen. Once we arrived in county after a very long flight, the rest of the trip was a breeze. Our rental vehicle was waiting at the airport, we were provided a detailed day by day itinerary, a road atlas, and we hit the road with our voucher book in hand. Before we arrived I had wondered if there would be some additional/hidden expenses with the tour, but everything was as straight forward and simple as advertised. All we had to do was show up at each stop on the itinerary and hand them our voucher, with no additional fees or surprises at any stop. All of our accommodations were basic but very clean, and the hotel owners very friendly and willing to help out with advice on local places to see, eat, shop, etc.. Having kitchen facilities at each stop also allowed us to cook and save money for shopping and other adventures. I would highly recommend Relaxing Journeys as a nearly effortless way to book a vacation in New Zealand. Not having to worry about all the details allowed us to concentrate on the fabulous scenery, natural beauty, and culture of the country. The only problem was that I wish we could have stayed longer! Thanks for a great trip. From start to finish our dealings with Relaxing Journeys were fantastic - always prompt, helpful with advice, and flexible to our needs. All arrangements (car, pick ups, tours) went like clockwork - and the accommodation was comfortable, generally well-located & always with helpful and friendly owners. We traveled with family from the USA who had never been to NZ - they were knocked out by this itinerary. We felt it really showed them all the high spots, a remarkable feat for 14 days! There was a lot of driving each day, but this is unavoidable if you want to see 'everything' and have a limited time. Also this is clearly spelled out in the itinerary, so no surprize. Most of the drives were incredibly scenic though - so enjoyable in themselves. The atlas we were given highlighted lots of interesting stops along the way which was very useful. Probably the one regret we had was that there was no time in the itinerary to explore Wellington - we arrived there in the early evening and left very early next morning to catch the ferry south. Would recommend to others to add a day or two in here if you can swing it. My partner and I came back after the others had left and loved it. We took the train from Greymouth to Christchurch - well worth the little extra expense. Special thanks to Kirsten for going above and beyond the call of duty in welcoming us to Auckland! It was a great start to the trip and set a tone which continued throughout our trip.

The tour was very well organised and the tour guide helped to make the tour interesting and fun. There was a good mix of travelling on road and rail. I got on well with the guide and with the couple who were fellow travellers with me. The views were at times spectacular esp at Mount Cook. For me, the mix was right for having activities suggested and being able to explore places for myself - which I enjoy doing and which was one of the reasons for choosing this tour. The hotels were all comfortable especially at Fox Glacier. I did like the resort at Marlborough Sound because it had a snack bar (The Snapper) which was relaxing, as well as a more formal restaurant. When I was on my way home at Auckland Airport I was asked to complete a tourist survey - I think to tell them what I had done. I explained briefly but they wanted me to be more specific, so I went into more detail, giving almost all my days outings. They said that usually nobody remembered it in such detail. So does that say more about me, about Steve (the guide) or the experience? Maybe all three! I have particular memories of places and visits and also a general memory of a good holiday.

I will definitely recommend you to any one thinking of going to New Zealand. We arrived home yesterday, we traveled the North Island with our friends had a great time, but I think we would have seen more if we would have had you plan the North Island for us also. That is how highly I recommend you. The trip to Queenstown, may I suggest that you have your clients include the buffet at the top of the gondola ride, we took the ride at 5:00 p.m saw the show at 5:15 had the buffet at 6:00 ( which was excellent by the way) the buffet sounded expensive but it was very good well worth the money. Again, thank you for planning the trip of a life time for us.

Thank you for the wonderful experience of touring New Zealand's south island. The logistics of the package was almost flawless. The motel accommodations, connecting coaches, milford sound tour, gondala connected perfectly. The accommodation was outstanding and the way I could tailor the package was very helpful. My only comments would be.. Milford sound boat cruise - you mention in your itinerary to pre-book for lunch which is helpful. It would be even more helpful if you gave the deadline and a contact number to call to pre-book. Just a thought.. there was a mix up in my airport transfer by Super Shuttle. The pickup location was at another hotel. Thankfully the bus was only a very short distance away and it caused no dramas at all, but potential could be bad. Something to be aware of. Overall I had a thrilling time and am so appreciative of your service. I will definitely be recommending your company to friends and family. Thank you again.

This was the most spectacular and enjoyable tour. Our tour director Julie and driver Tamatai were both amazing and Julie's knowledge and commentaries were fantastic. We met lovely people. Toni, we only returned home yesterday (25/02) from our round the world trip so sorry for delay in replying. On behalf of the four of us I would like to thank you and your company for a most enjoyable 5 day tour. The hotel 'Scenic Bay of Islands' was excellent (rooms were the best on our travels & buffet was excellent). At the Kingsgate in Rotorua there was a slight hiccup with one of the rooms but after a bit of diplomacy by their Supervisor it was partly resolved. Buffet was excellent in Bay of Islands, the cruise was excellent at Reitanga & 90 Mile Beach. We had a good day out at Rotorura. The half day tour wasenjoyable but a little hurried. The Hangi feast was excellent.

Where do I start, the South Island is incredible! We had such a fantastic time on our tour, the hotels were good, food was good, only a couple of minor issues that were easily sorted. The organisation and the itinerary were well planned and we managed to do a couple of extra things too. We had a great driver, Paul, who is part Maori. He was able to give us a good insight into his culture and he was able to give us a balanced view too. The only drawback was in some places we did not have enough time, but this is not the fault of the tour, it is because to spend enough time in each place you would have to spend more than the 19 days on the tour! The tour is supposed to be an overview and it did that. All it means is we have to go back to New Zealand to spend more time there, which I for one, am happy with!

I had been thinking for the last few days that I should drop you a line about our trip and then I received your e-mail. It was a wonderful adventure and all the things that we saw are things we will never forget. From Napier and their art deco days to the glow worm caves, the Bay of Islands, Dunedin and a wonderful evening with bagpipes and the story about the haggis and how it tasted, the Hangi feast and the Maori culture and performance of their traditional dances. Another thing that made our trip was our coach driver, Paul Brown. He made the trip so interesting with all his knowledge about the Maori people and all the little things that you would never know about, if you were traveling by yourself. I have heard that a lot of the coach drivers don't talk about the culture and facts about New Zealand the way Paul Brown does. We never had a day go by that he didn't tell us about the countyside we were traveling thru. I just can't say enough about him. All the other people on the coach felt the same way. Our accommodations were very good and the people were always accommodating to us. If any one ever asks who we went thru, I would recommend your agency at the top of the list. Jarrod, we were delighted with our tour and have no complaints at all. In fact we have been at pains to tell all our friends how well it all went. From a purely personal observation I would say that the Grand Mercure Puka Park should be recommended only to the fit twenty somethings who can readily scale the 39 steps to their tree chalet after negotiating the near vertical path from the restaurant. We were very impressed with the voucher system and that at each venue we were expected, regardless of the time we arrived. In Rotorua 5 attractions were too many for the time allocated, we managed 3 and forwent 2 others plus the night out. Glacial walks should explain that a medical questionaire is required prior to participation, and exclusion results with a failure of such. The upgrades in some hotels were wonderful, as was the use of the lounge on the ferry across Cook Straight. Lakefront rooms would be nice at Queenstown as they were at Taupo and Tekapo. Overall a wonderfully organized holiday, we will recommend it to our friends without hesitation.

This was a fantastic trip in every respect. We broke up our travel to NZ so that we would not be exhausted when we arrived. When we arrived we were met and taken to our hotel which was for the most part representative of our entire tour - the accommodations, service and meals were great. The optional touring was excellent although we felt that an extra day in some locations would have allowed us to do more. This was particularly true of Christchurch where we had to drop off folks for the TranzAlpine railway and prevented us from arriving at noon hour and we had to leave again the next morning - one more day in Christchurch would have been nice. The driver and tour guide were both outstanding in making the tour an absolutely wonderful experience - every detail was arranged - the tour guide and the driver even arranged golfing outings for 2 of us when we had free time. The friends we met on the tour made you look forward to each new day and each evening at dinner with anticipation and excitement. I had an apprehension about a 3 week bus tour but it exceded expectations. If we were to do the tour by car it would have taken at least 2 months to see the places and do the things we did.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 14 day tour with AAT Kings who ensured we saw everything of interest on our route. This was largely due to the excellent Tour Director Marty P. and the excellent coach driver Paul L. Marty's informative, entertaining and humorous talks delivered in his clear diction. That together with his fun entertainments while travelling such as quizes and the Speights adverts endeared him to our coach party. He was also in complete control of all aspects of the logistics and kept everyone very well informed. The professional driving skills of Paul on some very difficult bends made for a smooth journey allowing us to relax and enjoy the wonderful scenery. They made a great team but surprisingly had not often worked together before. The quality of the hotels we stayed in was variable. The Mercure in Auckland although providing a great view at the welcoming reception dinner, provided very little protection from the street noise outside in the early hours of the Saturday. They need to provide triple glazing it would seem. Sleep was therefore disrupted on our first night which was not a good start with so much travelling ahead of us. The hotels at Picton and Queenstown were particularly good unlike the Fox Glacier hotel which provided a poor standard of room. Perhaps better is available at Franz Josef Glacier resort? A number of men on the tour were golfers and although we heard a lot about the NZ golf courses we did not have the chance to play any. One of us did however make his own arrangements quite inexpensively to hire clubs and play the 9 hole course near Queenstown airport so consideration could be given to offering transport from the hotel to there as one of the optional events in Queenstown. I should also like to mention Georgie Walpole who provided great assistance during our booking and in answering our subsequent questions. Kia Ora!

We had a marvellous holiday in your fabulous country and we both send our thanks to you and the team at Relaxing Journeys for setting up such a splendid itinerary for us. In short, everything when exactly as planned and we were able to include just about all the suggestions you made plus a number of our own. The car hire and hotels arrangements worked perfectly and the included trips etc were a great bonus. On top of all this the weather was brilliant with only 3 days on which it rained for part of the time (Milford Sound, of course!). I have many digital images to edit so I shall be fully occupied for the next couple of months. I shall write to you in a week or so with some more detailed observations which may be of help to you when arranging similar holidays in the future. These are certainly not criticisms, we have none of those. We shall return!!

We had a fantastic time in your beautiful country and found the itinerary to be well planned and organised. The time it saved us in bookings and research was immense. You requested useful comments so I include some observations, which I feel may be nit-picking as we really did have an incredible time with wonderful weather. We had an extra day in Christchurch to get over jeg-lag before taking to the road. Because of this we didn't need to return there. We're not city lovers and we drove to Akaroa from Christchurch on that day. We loved Doubtful Sound which we added to your itinerary. We were quite happy to also go to Milford Sound which you include, as that seems to be the 'Sound' most talked about. Doubtful Sound was definitely our favourite and we noted that the most photographed parts of Milford could be done on foot. Having said that, even if you'd told us that, we would probably have still wanted the experience. It might be worth looking at the Rotorua part of the itinerary. I realise the 5 star pass is not your own programme, but there were aspects of it where we would have preferred to substitute other things in the area. eg. We visited Wai-o-Tapu (much better than Te Puia) enroute from Taupo and the Buried Village. Instead of the Spa and Paradise Valley (more a children's place we felt and the lions weren't well kept) we could maybe have visited Waimangu and/or Hell's Gate. Please don't take this as criticism, more a constructive critique, which I hope you will find useful. Every single thing can't be everyone's 'cup-o'-tea' We really did have a great trip and 'adventure' and nothing to complain about. Thank you very much.

Hi Toni, I've just got back to the UK, having stayed on in NZ with friends after completing the tour of South Island which you set up for me. Everything worked out really well. From the outset I found the Relaxing Journeys website easy to navigate. You responded quicky to my requests and payment was very easy on the site. My travel documents were at my destination when I arrived and witout exception all the bookings and arrangments were in place. I kept thinking I'd go to a hotel or for the plane and they wouldn't have my details but that wasn't the case at all! The voucher system worked really well. Of the hotels, the Copthorne in Queenstown was lovely, the Scenic Hotel Franz Joseph I at first thought was a bit run down but in fact the room was spacious, bed comfy and Earth Organics toiletries a treat. The breakfast room was lovely too. I coldn't remember having requested the Sudima in Christchurch but should have picked this up earlier if not satisfied. It meant I didn't have time in Christchurch. I did go to the Antartic Centre which I liked and in fact the Sudima was very nice. I ate at their restaurant which had the best veggie menu I'd come across all trip. I thought the TransAlpine Train journey was OK but not that special - possibly more dramatic in winter - just a personal thought. Both flights were great. So I had a great time thanks and would happily travel with Relaxing Journeys again or recommend your company.

My wife, daughter, & I had a great time in New Zealand! Many thanks to Toni, who coordinated our itinerary. Toni recommended visiting just the South Island instead of trying to see North & South Island during our short 8-day vacation. She was exactly right when she told us that New Zealand was much larger than envisioned and we would not enjoy it spending all our time on a bus. While the 8-day South Island Alps tour was "taxing," it enabled us to experience a significant portion of South Island. All travel & hotel aspects of the trip were well coordinated. However, if I had to do it again, I would limit my entire week to just Queenstown... which offers something for everyone (at least in my group). ;-) New Zealand is absolutely beautiful, and the people were great. The weather was gorgeous the entire week (dry & 86 degrees farenheit, even in the mountains), which presented our greatest headache... trying to figure out what to pack when coming from the snow & cold. All the hotels were very conveniently located and within walking distance of major attractions and restaurants. The bus service was timely and the drivers were very informative. We averaged about 30 - 35 people per 50-passenger bus; so, we had room to stretch out. The alpine train was relaxing. We spent so much time talking with the groups around us that we didn't really enjoy the passing scenery as the time flew by. All-in-all, a fantastic vacation. If we had to do it again, we would spend all of our time in Queenstown, where we could "unpack" and enjoy more of the activities. We would also choose a different hotel there, perhaps the Copthorne or Sofitel. Thanks again! (Ed. These comments have been edited for length).

We thoroughly enjoyed our time spent in New Zealand and would like to thank Jarrod for organising our trip. The itinerary was excellent and we appreciated the details of places that we passed on the way to our acommodation. The maps and leaflets that also came with the itinerary were again very useful! We were very impressed with the accommodation that we stayed in and also the location of each motel. The cars that we hired in each island were easy to drive. We hired a sat nav to use in the cars which proved useful when locating the motels apart from the motel in Auckland - it didn't recognise Newmarket for some reason in the address. It came up with Epsom instead?! We had one minor 'hic up' when we came to hand our car over in the south island - the car hire company was not open (it was passed 9.00 am and we were boarding the ferry at 9.30 a.m) and we didn't know whether we should leave the sat nav in the car or take it with us to the North Island. We took it with us and were told by the hire company in the north that we should have left it in the south island!! And they were going to charge us the cost of sending it back! A minor 'hic up' but it might be useful for others to know what they should do! Thanks again for organising a great holiday!

It is just a few weeks since we returned from our tour of The South Island. We were delighted with all the arrangements, everything during our stay went so smoothly, the comfortable transfers to and from the airport and railway station, the hotel in Christchurch on our arrival was very nice and central. The vehicle we toured the Island in was ideal and the standards in all the Motels was very good, everyone in New Zealand is so helpful and friendly. The various tours which were included in our itinerary were first class, we would definitely recommend Relaxing Journeys to anyone wishing to visit New Zealand, (even the weather was excellent!) We take home amazing memories of a truly spectacular country and long to return one day. Thankyou so much for making our trip of a lifetime so special.

The overnight cruise on the Bay of Islands was one of the nicest holiday experiences we've had. The boat was great, the cabin facilities were fantastic, surpassed my expectations. The crew were friendly, cheerful and very helpful, and the food was a very high quality. We enjoyed the afternoon on the beach and the scenery throughout the cruise was simply breathtaking, topped by dolphins cruising alongside the boat on the way back to harbour. Only one small criticism. I requested gluten free meals, which was no problem - they catered for all dietary requirements, but no snacks provided, rice crackers for the cheese, or any form of gluten free biscuits or nibblies would have been a good option. Lucky I took my own!

Thank you for all that you have done to make our trip to New Zealand a memorable event in our lives. Now that we have returned to the UK we can reflect on what we have seen , experienced and very much enjoyed. The total organisation from start to finish has been superb. The trip enabled us to experience a wide range of what your country has to offer and also gave us the opportunity to go off the beaten track with confidence. Everywhere we stayed was excellent and each one was different in its own particular way. We appreciate how you have dealt with the one very minor incident. The daily written detail/plan was vey good but we did find the description for Day 06 puzzling - we never found some 'great gorges and old native forests before heading across the volcanic plateau to the geothermal city of Rotorua, passing many of the regions crystal clear lakes en route'. We wondered whether we were on the wrong road but we got to Rotorua with no trouble. On Day 15 we found the loop road diversion to Geraldine a let down. The gourmet cheese factory now seems to be more concerned with selling cheese - there was no activity in the factory. Finally we felt the Matakohe Kauri Museum should be a MUST VISIT museum for anyone wishing to get an insight into life for the founding members of modern New Zealand. It is a fabulous showpiece and we shall never forget our visit to it. It needs to be given more emphasis amongst so many other highlights. We will now, once we recover from the long flight home, revisit all the photos we have taken . Your peoples and the sights and sounds of New Zealand will remain with us for a long time.

Jarrod did a magnifcent job of taking one of your tours and modifying it to suit our needs. From the moment we were collected at Auckland Airport we knew it would go well. We were basically happy with all the accomodation. The weather interferred on the Coromandel Peninsula but one has to cope with that. All the B&B's were well run. We missed a couple of attractions in Rotorua by choice. We included Waimangu which was stunning and for us (70 year olds from Oz) this was better than seeing sheep shorn (we both grew up with this in Qld) and going to a Spa. The car had many miles on it but performed reliably. We will be using your company again and recommending it to others.

We absolutely loved our trip and were impressed with how smoothly everything went. All was in order; there wasn't a single glitch with any of our reservations or vouchers. We stayed the perfect amount of time at each stop. Never did we feel we were someplace too long or not long enough. We were a little disappointed with a couple of the Heritage Hotels particularly in Rotorua. There were no towels in the room, the air conditioner didn't work well and at one point the elevator wasn't working. The staff were the least hospitable of all the hotels we visited, although the man who brought up a fan was very kind and helpful. We absolutely loved the Country Retreat at Franz Josef and Raetihi Lodge. What disappointed us with the Heritage Hotels was more than compensated for by the incredible staff and hospitality of these two hotels. Also, our Bed and Breakfast Inns were AWESOME. The experience added much to our New Zealand experience. We have friends who are planning a New Zeland trip early next year. We have highly recommended them to you. We thank you again for organizing everything so beautifully. We were just looking at our pictures tonight and savoring the many memorable days and moments. Our sincerest thanks and appreciation.

This really was a Relaxing Journey with everything as promised and running like clockwork, despite us enquiring and booking in the last three days of 2009 (great service Toni). Worth special mention was the manageress/owner of the Alphine View Motel at Kaikoura who not only volunteered to confirm our booking to swim with the dolphins but also offered to drive us there and lend us towels so ours would not get wet! The train offered spectacular views up the East coast of South Island and the observation carriage was great for pictures with no glass in the way. We really enjoyed the coach sectors because we could watch the scenery instead of the white line! You could just put a bit more emphasis in the itinerary on being ready a good 10 minutes before the coach departure time as the Abel Tasman excursion coach was early and they had to go off and pick up other people before returning for us. Still we learnt from that.

The holiday far and away exceeded my highest expectations, right from the airport/hotel transfers, down to the professionalism of the tour manager and excellent driving of the coach driver. Helped very much too by the weather, which was on the whole very good. Only 2 days rain, in what has been a very poor summer by New Zealand standards. My only criticism would be with the dinners. Not so much the quality of the food, but having paid for premium plus we were more often than not offered a set menu, rather than the full a la carte menu and initially tea/coffee was not included. On the couple of times we did complain, we were met with profuse apologies and did get the full a la carte menu. Last it would of been nice to spend an extra day in Christchurch - maybe extending the tour by 1 day.

This was a wonderful tour! The tour was very well arranged, we had wonderful accomodations and drivers there to pick us up on arrival at the different centres. Our drivers and tour guides were most accomodating and courtious. They were very knowledgeable supplying us with information on the history and geography of the many sights we visited and passed through. They were always cheerful and helpful in every way, just a great bunch. We would reccommend the tour to anyone visiting New Zealand. Really enjoyed this trip and found it excellent value for money. Extremely well organised from the moment we arrived very jet-lagged at Christchurch! The hotels varied but were all at least adequate overall and very good in at least one aspect (either food or rooms or service). The coach captains, Warren and Cole (one for South Island and one for north) were both very good, though totally different in their approach to the job. The other passengers were almost entirely Australian, which added another aspect to the trip, as we had two new cultures to take on rather than just one! But we got on very well, making lots of new friends. The number (and quality) of meals, the amount of included activities and discounts on other options for free days set this well ahead of other trips we considered in terms of value and we loved most of the options, particularly the Rotorua Gondola breakfast trip with luge ride, the houses and gardens in Dunedin, Mount Cook, Fox Glacier, Milford Sound, Hole in the Rock boat trip and, particularly, the Maori cultural experience, thermal activity, concert and hangi in Rotorua. We were very lucky with the weather, with fantastic visibility on days where it was important. The only thing we would have liked to see more of was wildlife, and were disappointed that the unique albatross and yellow-eyed penguin colonies were not offered, even as an optional, when we were very close by at Dunedin. Very tiring trip with lots of long journeys and early starts, but we loved it and would do it again if NZ weren't so far away! Even so we might consider it for the future and would certainly use your services and those of Grand Pacific again. Thank you. (Ed. These comments have been edited for length).

Thank you and Relaxing Journeys for putting together a complete tour package. Our trip to New Zealand was wonderful. We really enjoyed seeing the country and meeting the people. We counted ourselves very lucky to see so much of your country, much more than any organized tour that I have seen advertised in the U.S. We did not take a count of the hundreds of sheep, cattle, waterfalls and deer we passed on our three weeks of travel but we did estimate that we saw at least 60 different breeds of birds, counting the pheasant we (unfortunately) hit. My apologies for taking so long to sit down and write this. Time goes by quickly while getting back into the rhythm of everyday (non-travel) life and reviewing the thousand plus photos I took. I do take writing reviews seriously, hoping to help future travelers…and hoping that others' reviews will help operators improve the tours that I might be fortunate enough to take in the future. So, please read this in the spirit that I am writing it…to improve the experience, not to register complaints. The trip ran very smoothly, with no problems and very few hiccups. Our car in Wellington was not ready when we arrived, but this was resolved in about an hour. The maps book that was waiting for us was essential and very welcome. We didn’t have any problem finding our way driving, as the roads are well marked and the options are not too great. However, I was surprised that we weren’t given more detailed instructions. If I was driving alone, without the navigation and map reading expertise of Sarah, I probably would have had some problems. A suggested route, identifying the route number, would be nice to include in the initial package. At least consider providing a map and instructions on how to get to the various motels from the main route into town. Once at the motels, we did find the motel managers quickly offering advice on local attractions, restaurants, and driving directions. The motels all were conveniently located, clean, and welcoming. To us, this was one of the most important reasons for using Relaxing Journeys. We did not have to spend the time selecting hotels without knowing reputations or locations. As for the itinerary, it was complete! We definitely feel we have seen most of New Zealand and had time to enjoy both scenery and activities. Discovering what to do in the towns or along the drives was easy and helped by Relaxing Journeys suggestions, local brochures, and the various visitor centers. There are a few changes that we would recommend: 1. The drive to Mount Cook and then back to the coast was a long drive that we could have skipped. Part of this resulted from an inability to see Mount Cook due to cloud cover (which is probably fairly common). The rest is that by the time we got to the visitor center, it was too late in the day to join any tours, etc. Since we were staying overnight an hour plus away and had a long drive the following day, returning to the area was not feasible. 2. The day that included the trip to Milford Sound was very long and did not allow us time to stop and explore, particularly on the drive to and from the Sound. My suggestion would be to have an additional night in Te Anau so a full day could be used going to and from (and exploring) Milford Sound. (Note: we used the other day in the area on a RJ trip to Doubtful Sound which was a highlight of our trip). 3. The drive from the Glaciers to Nelson was also a very long day. Ideally, I would have liked to spend the night along the way (Westport or Greymouth). Instead of driving all day, we would have returned to the glacier in the morning (the weather happened to be gorgeous) and timed our drive to high tide at Punakaiki. Then, the next day we would have had a shorter drive to Nelson and had time to explore that area. The highlights of our visit are easy to identify: 1. The day in Dunedin, which we spent on the Otaga Peninsula. It was a full day starting at the Lanarch Castle and spending time at the Albatross Colony, on a cruise, and on a tour of the Yellow Eyed Penquin Reserve. Each stop exceeded our expectations and we have not stopped talking about the ability to see the penquins close up from the blinds. We even stopped and waited for one bird to walk over our heads! 2. The Real Journeys cruise to Doubtful Sound. The women at the center were very helpful and welcoming. The guides and staff on the boats and bus were also excellent. And, the weather was dry, the dolphins were active (and put on a show), and the seas were calm (resulting in some beautiful reflection photographs). 3. The drive from Blenheim to Kaikoura which we added on. Although we did not go out to see the whales in Kaikoura, this was a beautiful drive. 4. A stop at Cape Kidnappers Gannet Colony. As you might gather, we are animal and nature travelers. I rarely get an opportunity to shoot pictures of birds that close, especially while they are nesting. 5. Waitomo Caves. Yes, we added another long drive, but loved the opportunity to see the glow worms during the day! 6. Whitianga during the Treaty Days celebrations. I first questioned why we landed in town during this time period (should we have reversed the itinerary and started in the north due to the timing?) But, it turned out to be very interesting. We saw some of the ceremonies, just missed seeing the Prime Minister, and had some interesting talks with Maori participants. Again, thanks to you, Relaxing Journeys, and the people of New Zealand for a wonderful trip. I have told people of your vacation options and would be willing to be a reference for others considering a trip like ours.

We had an amazing time! Everything went very smoothly, picking up the rental car, checking into the hotels. Everything was ready and taken care of! The only thing we would suggest is more specific directions to the hotels. A couple of times we had to do some guess work. Especially in the small towns that we didn't have a map for. We want to thank Craig for all the help and getting us the additional days and staying in the places we wanted to. We truly felt that our vacation was made just for us! Stewart Island was wonderful. We had a fantastic holiday the coach driver Trevor was excellent very witty and a very competent driver and historically very knowledgeable. We visited many lovely places even though the weather was quite cold and changeable. The organisation when arriving at hotels and the sorting of luggage arriving at our bedroom door very promptly each day was fantastic. We had a great group of people and had some laughs along the way, we certainly would go on another coach holiday in the future, and would not hesitate to recommend your company.

An excellent tour. So much was packed into the 2 weeks, and all of it worth seeing-especially the scenery of South Island. The tour leader was excellent-displaying a huge knowledge of the country and the driver and bus were similarly so, which meant that everything went so smoothly. One small complaint is that the visit to the Franz Josef glacier was too short ( 30 mins), and I considered this to be a major attraction of the tour, so I was disappointed.

Overall, I am very happy with the arrangements, and had a great trip. This was my first visit to NZ's South Island, and was arranged on short notice and at the height of summer with many motels already full. Jarrod could not have been more helpful in answering my questions, and I was impressed with the speed of his email responses and of confirming all the arrangements. I also took his advice on a spare battery for my camera - and was glad I did! The tour itinerary worked very well and provided the right amount of driving per day. All the motels that were booked were very satisfactory in terms of cleanliness, amenities and very friendly service. The Hema Touring Atlas was really useful and a great addition to the pack. I have no complaints at all, but just a suggestion: The SatNav offered three suggestions for the route to my first accommodation in Christchurch, (and no help at all for some other motels) so some guesswork was required to find it. Perhaps an AA route map from the airport to the motel could be included. Many thanks again for a great introduction to South Island, and I would have no hesitation in recommending Relaxing Journeys to other travellers who, like me, relish a trip where all the hard preparation work has been done for you! We really enjoyed the tour even though it rained every day but two. The scenery in NZ is lovely, the ferns are so abundant and beautiful. Craig, our driver, was very good. Meals included were delicious. Accomodations with the exception of the night at Lake Ohau were good. The lodge at Lake Ohau seemed below the standard of the others-bedspreads looked soiled, floor seemed uneven and soiled, the meals there were tasty but no choice of food. Had a very good group of 17 tour mates on the south island - great fun. The north island portion was only us and one other lady from Australia so we had a very personlized tour. Our biggest complaint would be the coach. It had some mechanical problems. There was play in the steering wheel which made the bus sway a lot. The windows fogged up when it rained making it very difficult to see the beautiful scenery.

Hi. Just a few comments on the service that we received from you. Plus points - Jarrod was very quick to sort out any concerns and problems that we had and we found him to be professional and polite over the e-mail. We were impressed that changes to our itinerary and payments could all be made online or via e-mail, which were both convenient and efficient. You customer service has been consistently high, which made things easy and stress free. The hire car that we had was excellent. The information pack and CD that you provided was very useful. The Marine Apartments in Wittianga (sorry not sure of spelling!) were high quality and exceeded our expectations, as they upgraded us upon our arrival. I found you to be a very friendly company to deal with. Minus points - our brief was to have accomodation that was modern and clean. Unfortunately, two of our apartments did not meet that standard. The Oak Tree Hotel in Auckland had such a smelly shower that it was unusable. Luckily we were able to use my mother's bathroom. The location was not great either and I got bitten by insects! Secondly the Bali Hai in the Bay of Island was cleanish, but certainly not modern. Our heart's sank a bit after our long drive to get there to find that our accomodation was so basic. Finallu we had to be pushy with Jarrod in trying to get us a 4x4 vehicle, (which was essential to the four of us plus baby buggy) when he initially said that he could not guarantee us one. Overall rating is 7 out of 10 in terms of accomodation. 9 out of 10 in terms of the service that we received from you. We had such a great time however, that the small things did not spoil the enjoyment of our wonderful holiday. Hope you don't mind the honest feedback given however. Can't wait to visit the South Island hopefully next year and we would certainly consider using your company again and recommending you to our friends. Thank-you.

We had an amazing amazing time! We found the route guidance and info pack really useful and were delighted with how well our tour had been planned. We had worried that there would be too much driving but in fact the driving was really good as the scenery was fantastic and there were always lots of places to stop at on route. Cheltenham House - We really like this place the hosts had everyone in for drinks in the evening and breakfast in your room was a nice touch. 4/5. Hanmer Springs - we loved the Springs and found a great Indian place to eat. Kincaid - This was our favourite Jessica and Greig have made a really nice home from home with lots of little touches such as home made cookies and port in your room. They booked dinner for us making sure we had a table with a view, told us where to go for cheap cray fish, sorted out a helicopter ride to see the whales when the weather was too bad for our boat trip and even let us borrow their mobile phone. One hint though can you put their address as Parson's road as the route guidance couldn't find the road that was listed. 5/5 Our whalewatch boat ride was cancelled due to bad weather but a helicopter ride was a great alternative. The swim with Dolphins was pure genius - we swam with a group of 700 to 1000 and had loads of interaction. Bay of Many Coves - Wow what an amazing location and really beautiful facilities. I think the one thing it lacked was some atmosphere in the evenings it needed a cracking cocktail bar and perhaps alternative bar food then it would have been perfect. 4/5 Warwick - we didn't like this one any near as much. The hosts weren't really interested in operating a B&B and were more interested in telling us about the history of a house that to European's was actually quite new. We weren't allowed to check in before 4 pm and couldn't even leave our luggage there securely. We needed to get up early for our trip to Abel Tasman and they wouldn't give us a cooked breakfast before 8.30 so we had to make do with some muesli and cold stuff left on a tray outside our room the night before. 2/5 We did however love our hike through Abel Tasmin. Not to be missed! Punacatti - The hotel was quite basic but had a good view. It also lacked any night time action but we were glad we stopped here as the rocks and blow holes were fantastic to see. 3/5 Holly Homestead - great hosts and good breakfasts but being as we had terrible weather we didn't enjoy this section of the trip as much as we had hoped. 3/5. The train ride was slightly marred by rain but we did get to see some amazing rainbows. Airport hotel - we were surprised that this was actually very good 4/5.

Excellent tour which was flawlessly arranged. I only really have a couple of comments. Firstly I would have liked the option to upgrade to better class hotels on this tour in the same way as is possible on other tours you offer (I only had limited time so the 14 day tour was all I could fit in). The accommodation was generally good but in particular I would have liked a better hotel in Queenstown (facilities at Kingsgate OK but rooms are faded and it is quite a walk to town centre). Secondly the itinerary instructions are very good, but a note on parking possibilities at hotels in Christchurch and Auckland would have been useful.

When we initially booked our trip in the middle of last year, we did not have any knowledge of your company except via the internet. So it was with much trepidation that we paid our money upfront and flew to Auckland on 27 December 2009. We were so very pleasantly surprised. From the time we picked up our vouchers and vehicle at the airport, till we arrived back in Auckland 2 weeks later, our adventure was wonderful. Craig from your office did a wonderful job in accommodating all our needs. The motels on the whole were of a very good standard and how good was it to pull up and just hand over a pre-paid voucher to cover this! Craig was also very patient and helpful in planning our itinerary (which we changed a few times in the initial booking!) All the tours you booked for us were great value. A couple of things we found on our own were excellent and you may consider including them in your suggestions (the Gondola and Luge at Rotorua, the Beach Gannet Tractor ride at Kidnappers Cove near Napier and a newly-offered guided tour at the Maori Village in Rotorua). What a great vacation! It may have been a 'self-drive' tour, but definitely not 'self service' - everything was taken care of. We spent 10 days touring the North Island and most of the South Island. Even though the car rental involved picking up a car in Auckland, dropping it off in Wellington (to get on the ferry), picking another one up in Picton, dropping it off in Greymouth (to get on the train) and picking up yet another in Christchurch, we didn't encounter any problems. Accommodations were clean and friendly. They were spread all over NZ, and again, no problems. Transfers were all on time. Vouchers for all shows and activities were also accepted with no problems. Let me see if I can find something that didn't go according to plan! 1) The GPS didn't know where the car rental firm was in Greymouth, so we actually had to ask someone. It was a block from the train station. 2) The car was supposed to be dropped off to us at the hotel in Christchurch, but it was a holiday in NZ, so only one person was working at the office and he couldn't leave. He sent (and paid for) a cab to pick us up, and the car was ready to go when we got there. In other words, there is just nothing to complain about! I would (and will) recommend Relaxing Journeys to anyone that wants to travel to New Zealand for a drama-free vacation.

My wife and I used the Grand Explorer tour as a base and made a few changes to suit our interests and location preferences. We worked with Jarrod Sharvi who was extremely helpful in working out and finalising our amended itinerary. I was very happy with his prompt, friendy, informative and honest (in terms of what to see and what could be missed) assistance. We ended up having a fantastic holiday and I am sure that was due in part to his outstanding contribution, arranging for additional activities and tips of what to see along the way, some of which were off the normal tourist route. NZ is an amazing country and we truly loved our holiday which was well organised and gave us many varied experiences. Again, Jarrod played a large part in this. This proved to be just what we wanted. A small group of like minded people from different backgrounds and cultures, all prepared to join in and make the trip an experience we would not forget. Our Driver 'Royal' and the tour Guide 'Karen' were fantastic. Nothing was too much trouble and they both mixed with the group as if we were just part of a big family. (We hit the Jackpot with them). The selection of places we stayed at must have evolved over many years of touring, it encompassed everything we had planned. We were welcomed and made at home everywhere we stopped. Some of the more memorable hotels were The Nautilus Hotel in Napier, and The Ohau Lodge at Lake Ohau where the proprieters even took time to come on board the coach to welcome us, and give us a brief introduction to the hotel and facilities. Then to wish us farewell on our departure. The experience of waking up on board the Milford Mariner after heavy rain over night was superb. We had seen Milford Sound in brilliant sunshine the previous day and to witness the total transformation of the waterfalls was a sight to behold. This was a trip I did not want to end. Our arrival back in Christchurch to the sound of 'Po Atarau' (now is the hour) followed by .'Pokarekare ana' was very emotional. The memory will stay with me forever.

Nothing seemed too much trouble for them and Julie's passion and knowledge along the way surpassed anything I have encountered previously on other coach tours. The tour went very smoothly from the booking with Georgina to the final transport to the airport. Our Tour Director Julie Hodgson was absolutley superb with her vast knowledge & expertise. She also worked very well with our driver Paul who was also excellent. The only criticism was the inital meeting at the airport which was an absolute shambles. The 10 of us on the transfer bus were all of the same opinion. Thankfully this first impression was the exact opposite to the rest of the tour. Thank you for a wonderful trip.

We had a fantastic time. All of your arrangements worked perfectly. At times we felt we're rushing off to the next location too soon or spending too much time driving (Milford Sound). Overall, it was a great itinerary. However, we would not stay at Bay Plaza Hotel in Wellington again (horrible bathroom with non draining shower stall). We loved Punakaiki Resort. This was the first time my husband and I had done a conducted tour, and it certainly won't be the last! From start to finish this tour was excellent. We were blessed with mainly good weather and lovely travelling companions. The hotels were good and all arrangements went off without a hitch. Special mention needs to be made of our tour director, Ngaire, and driver Julian. Nothing was too much trouble and Ngaire went out of her way to help us (oldies!). Her knowledge of all the areas visited was very informative. She also handled, what could have been a difficult situation with a fellow traveller, with aplomb! Ngaire and Julian made a great team - I think we were very lucky to have them. Our friend from S.Africa, Norah Clegg, was also full of praise for the tour. We would have no hesitation in recommending an this tour.

This was our first visit to New Zealand and it was perfect! Every detail had been considered during the planning of our tour. We only had 6 nights in which to taste the South Island, and from the word go Jarrod was so helpful. The pack we received was full of useful information and left no need for guess work. Our whale watching boat trip was cancelled due to bad weather, but we took the helicopter trip later in the day, so didn't miss out. Everything, from the hotels Jarrod chose for us to the car hire, were top class. Everyone we met was so friendly and helpful. New Zealand is a beautiful country, and there is no doubt we will visit again. When we do return, we will have no hesitation in asking Relaxing Journeys to arrange our holiday again.

The planning was impeccable. It's nice to have all the vouchers printed out like a cheque book and in chronological order. This made it so much easier for us. The service provided from Great Sights tour was excellent. We'll also like to make a special mention for Nomad Safaris Tour for the half day Safari of the Scenes tour in Queenstown. It was by far one of the highlights of the entire trip, and they did did not disappoint, especially our guide Brent. Overall, it's been a great experience.

We had the best time ever! It was a great experience from the begining, driving on the right side of the road, the fashion city Auckland, the city built from a dream - Christchurch, the Maori culture at Rotorua, to walking on Franz Josef Glacier. The people were very kind and friendly. We definetly have to go back! The hotels were so beautiful, they were a very important part to make this trip an extraordinary experience. Only at the hotel in Taupo were the crew a little bit rude. They told us breakfast wasn't included when every hotel in our tour was. Also it would be nice that the tour included a few more activities pre-booked like they were in Rotorua - maybe something at Queenstown and Franz Josef. That way it is easier to plan a day and know the best places in NZ. Thank u a lot for everything, it is a trip that we will never forget. NZ is incredible! we want lo live there!

Everything was very good. Our tour was excellent. Ted (Tour Director) and Paul (Driver) were exceptional. Your country is extremely beautiful. Most hotels were very good - I think it was the Wellington one that was a little bit 'tired', but service was always good. I loved the location of the one in Christchurch. I would certainly recommend that one. Food was usually very good. I put on weight, so that should answer that question. Lastly, your service was also very good. The trip went really well and we all 4 enjoyed breathtaking experiences and loved most of the accommodation tremendously. Highglights were seeing the whale, the tree houses and the Bay of Islands sailing trip. Low points were only the bad weather in the South but then again the Milford experience with masses of waterfalls was unmissable. Thanks again.

Craig of Relaxing Journeys organised our trip starting in Christchurch and ending in Sydney twenty two days later. His service was immaculate. Each hotel or bed & breakfast greeted us warmly and made us feel right at home. All the owners went out of their way to ensure that we had places to visit and restaurants to sample. They were all genuinely concerned that we should have a good experience travelling around New Zealand and offered their thoughts on our itinerary and suggested extra stops on route that enhanced our time there. Although the weather in South Island was not always great and prevented us from exploring Frans Josef Glacier that was more to do with our choice of when to go which had been dictated by our unfortunate delay from the previous January and February. Our final stop in Aukland at the Aachen House was amusing in hindsight with a 2am fire alarm that the night manager slept thru but as we were able to evacuate everybody ourselves and the alarm was a false one no harm was done. The award for best overnight went to the Tree House hotel which was an absolute treat and anybody visiting that part of South Island to see the whales and dolphins should be directed there. The Bay of Islands and Russell where we hired a yacht for the day was another big highlight. The car hire in Christchurch was well executed but the handover when we arrived at Rotarua was botched - a case of miscommunication between the car hire firms offices but sorted out by Craig yet again with speed and charm. Thanks for a flawless performance on your part and please feel free to use me as a reference for your top class service.

I booked this tour because I had a limited window in which to explore the North Island (not enough time for both islands) and wanted a tour that would take me to the main sights without having to waste time finding them myself and sorting out my own accomodation. I was NOT disappointed. The small group (17 for most of the trip) were all friendly - although I was lucky that there was one other single traveller in my age group so I didn't feel isolated at all. The coach captain, Ross, was fantastic! His extensive knowledge and almost continuous commentary, along with the frequent sight-seeing and comfort stops, made the long journeys pass in no time. The hotels were all of a high standard, and the food very nice and plentiful - especially in the Paihia and Rotorua hotels. The highlight for me was the Bay of Islands. Stunning weather and scenery, and I thoroughly recommend the optional half-day plane flight to Cape Reinga through Salt Air. That experience will stay with me forever. Well worth the extra money. Of course there are a couple of things that could've improved the tour. The visit to Rainbow Springs in Rotorua was boring and a complete waste of time (nothing of interest to see, very contrived) and instead of having a free afternoon in Rotorua, which doesn't have much to offer as a city, we all agreed we would prefer to have spent more time in Taupo, where we only spent two hours as a lunch stop. An overnight stay there would've given us time to explore the town and area more. But thats my only complaint; otherwise it was a fantastic tour. I booked my tour through Relaxing Journeys. They (especially Georgina Walpole) were helpful, patient and thorough throughout the booking process, answering all my questions to help me find the tour that suited me best. Overall, a fantastic way of seeing the North Island if you are limited for time.

We enjoyed the tour - everything was well organised and accommodation was good (both in quality and locations). We appreciated the wealth of knowledge of the coach captain - that makes travel by this method so rewarding. We had a great time thank you. At one stage (the trip from Auckland to Bay of Is.) we had to use a replacement 20-seat bus while the coach was in for repair. The 20-seat bus was not very comfortable and should be avoided for longish trips if possible. It was partly for this reason that we declined an optional trip further north - did not want another day in a small bus.

Sorry for the late reply, we have been meaning to do it for sometime now. First, we would like to thank you for all your help. Next, well, WOW! Our trip was awesome! The 14 Day coach tour of the North & South Islands was absolutely great. Even though we did not have the best of weather on the tour it was still very good, and it is true, you do need to have a variety of clothing while in NZ. We probably had the BEST tour director ever, Julie was outstanding, very knowledgeable, she loves NZ, and is a true ambassador. She was truly superb. We had an all girl team (director & driver). Again we were blessed to have the "Best Team" to take us around NZ. Boy, you don't realize it until you drive through NZ on their roads and how very grateful we were to have an excellent and very professional driver as Megan to escort us around. They both helped the tour to be a great success. Being our first time to NZ the coach tour was a great way to see the North & South Islands. The only thing better would be is to take at least six months to take it all in, as there is so much to see and do. New Zealand is a beautiful and a wonderful place to see. Excellent thanks, we had wonderful time. From my first last minute enquiry to Jarrod I was given help and advice with the planning and booking, through to a telephone call part way through the trip to check everything was OK, this is a very good idea. Everything booked by yourselves worked smoothly, from the car hire to hotel bookings. The Heritage Hotels were good although we felt the Scenic were of a lower standard, although of course they had wonderful views! The travelling time between destinations was just right and the activities excellent.

I did some research on the travel websites and any time that Relaxing Journeys was mentioned it was in a positive light. So I took the chance and now that I have had a great tour in New Zealand I am so glad I did. Craig was my point of contact and any questions I had he replied promptly making my experience in booking so much more pleasant. It was good to know that someone was available to contact should I have any problems (which I didn't). As for the tour itself, it was perfect. New Zealand is a beautiful country, and I liked that the driver/tour captains on both islands where local and had a first hand knowledge of the country. We enjoyed pretty much every aspect of our trip to New Zealand. The weather cancelled two of our planned excursions, but that can happen anywhere. Our hotel accommodations were excellent, our two guides were excellent, and all the excursions were great. Our only negative comment is that we would have preferred to stay in Arrowtown rather than Queenstown. We much preferred the local flavor of Arrowtown over the touristy Queenstown. We would recommend your company to any friends who asked for one.

It has been more than a month since we came back from NZ. I should have written to you earlier, on my families behalf, to say many thanks on the excellent planning and arrangements you prepared for us. There is only one word to describe our tour. FANTASTIC! You and and your colleagues really made our recent trip the best family holiday we ever had. All went smoothly, from the day we landed at Auckland International Airport on 7th Nov until our departure on 22nd Nov from Christchurch . The voucher system was very useful. The 4WD was excellent and suited us well. Five grown up adults with five big bags plus 4 lots of hand luggage. South Island is beautiful and we should have stayed there longer. There are so many things to do and my 'grown up' children told me that 16 days in NZ is too short. I hope I can make another trip just to South Island in the near future. For your information our friend is going to New Zealand with his family around middle of 2010 and I told him he should use Relaxing Journeys to plan his NZ holiday. Never mind an essay - it would be easy to write a BOOK!!! This was, quite honestly, the most amazing trip I have ever taken and, let's be honest, probably ever WILL take. From the very start - via email - Craig was helpful, encouraging and -in the face of several last minute changes - eternally patient and efficient. His organisational skills were exemplary and laid the foundations for the eventual tour. I very quickly discovered that New Zealand is - no question - the most amazingly beautiful country on Earth! From the tropical balmy sun of the Bay of Islands, via the Maori mysticism of Cape Reinga to Auckland and its islands, then Rotorua and all the geothermal magic, experiences of stunning significance bowled me over. The Art Deco pizzazz of Napier was wonderful as was the wine of Hawkes Bay! Then to stylish, windy Wellington and across Cook Strait to Picton, South Island and the wine area of Marlborough. Kaikoura's whale watch was unmissable as was the TransAlpine Express from Christchurch to Greymouth. Then the west coast would provide Hokitika jade, helicopter trips onto the glaciers and jet-boat river trips - exciting and unmissable. Queenstown provided exhilarating opportunites on land and water but the highlight of so many highlights would come when I spent the night on a boat in Milford Sound - a truly magnificent and spiritual place of dolphins, fur seals, crested penguins and mind-numbing mists and sunsets! Finally via Scottish Dunedin and stunning Mount Cook back to Christchurch, the Garden City, and finally home. If I HAD to find one fault with my life-changing tour then it was.. the tour was much too short!!! My sincere thanks to ALL, including the tour guide, Lynn, and driver, Steve, who were superb!

Overall, the holiday was a resounding success, helped significantly by excellent weather. If we were to criticise anything, it would be a few of the shuttle links. The first being the link from the Heritage Hotel in Christchurch to the Intercity bus depot where the driver was actually embarrassed at the fact we could have walked to the depot faster than it took to load/unload our suitcases and to drive us there. The second being the taxi shuttle from the bus depot in Dunedin to the Scenic Hotel Southern Cross, where we were obliged to ask a taxi driver from Dunedin Taxis who happened to be serving another client, to call through to his despatch and remind them they had a scheduled pickup in our name, as they had clearly overlooked the booking. On a more positive note, the hotel accommodation throughout was excellent and we would draw particular attention to the beautifully appointed Te Weheka Inn, Fox Glacier. In retrospect, we wish we'd pre-booked a helicopter ride from Milford Sound back to Queenstown which would include a touchdown above the snowline as we were unsuccessful in our attempt to do so via the driver due to its popularity and consequent full booking. It was interesting to note the differences in the quality of the running commentaries from our drivers. The Great Sites driver being particularly informative and entertaining. We would have no hesitation in recommending Relaxing Journeys as a thoroughly professional organisation to do business with and appreciated the fact we experienced a virtually hassle free vacation from end to end. Excellent tour, the driver/guides were very informative and entertaining - especially the day trip to the Cape. Accommodation was good, but we did upgrade to a sea view room. Fullers trip on kattamaran of Bay of Islands was very good, and we enjoyed the one hour drop off on the island - very relaxing, and the staff were very helpful and friendly. The trip round the Treaty Ground was a bit of a whistle stop tour though. Otherwise good value for money.

A truly wonderful experience. New Zealand was everything we imagined and more. The tour organized by you guys was outstanding and the help and communication couldn’t have been better. Every detail worked out - with no hassles, and the weather was truly remarkable, one grey day and a few minutes rain in 22 days. The hotels provided were good, but the B&B’s were outstanding, and it was a shame that sometimes we just had to move on, when we could have happily stayed longer. It will be a very long time before the memories of the remarkable scenery, Kiwi in the wild, Manu the Sperm whale and meeting a 4000 year old tree fade! It would be difficult to describe these as high points, as all of our trip was so good. Thanks for everything, and we certainly can’t recommend your services highly enough.

We had a fantastic time. Apart from the initial pick up at Christchurch when no one was there to meet us! Our driver was Daryl who was a fountain of knowledge and made our South Island part of the tour exceptional. The hotel in Christchurch was a bit drab, the food good the staff friendly but the manager was quite rude. All the hotels were clean and comfortable, some with slightly more facilities than others but for the short time we were there it didn't matter. The food was great and the scenery was great. We also took a few optional excursions in the South Island. Skippers Canyon was well worth seeing, helicoptor and landing on one of the glaciers was great and the Haast River boat ride was great and we would recommend any of these. Lance the North Island driver was very pleasant but we had been spoilt by Daryl. We would have liked more information. Our time in the North Island was more relaxed which was nice as we were quite exausted by the South Island. Our time there was very good.The hotels there were all good and the food good. All in all the whole trip was wonderful and the only thing we would change would be an extra day in Queenstown because there was so much to see and do there. Last but not least were our fellow pasangers, 24 Australians who made our trip the best, we all got on so well and had such a laugh. Just a quick word about the coach itself. Comfortable and because there were only 26 of us very roomy. I would definitely reccommend this trip to anyone and would like to thank you for everything running smoothly.

New Zealand was beautiful, amazingly beautiful. Our tour was perfect. Peter Birks, our tour guide and Mark Johnson, our driver, were both very professional, knowledgeable, and caring. The hotels were very nice, especially the Queenstown Sofitel, the Te Waonui Forest Retreat in Te Anau, and the Hotel InterContinental in Wellington. Many other hotels had perfect locations, such as the Hermitage in Mt Cook National Park. The evening meals were excellent (the lobster at the Scenic Hotel Southern Cross in quaint Dunedin was superb) as well as the comprehensive tour activities included. Would highly recommend this tour.

Overall the trip was fantastic we both thoroughly enjoyed it. The accomodation on the whole was good, clean & simple motels with friendly and attentive staff. The only exception was the motel in Taupo (Karaka tree I think). The staff were nice however the cleanliness was below standard. The trips pre booked by yourselves were excellent, we both thoroughly enjoyed them. The car hire was great, quick and simple on both islands. The communication between us and Relaxing Journeys prior, during and after the trip has been excellent. Before we went, regular emails kept us up to date with travel itinerys etc so we were well prepared for our trip. During the trip the we were unexpectedly contacted to see if everything was going OK which was nice and a problem with a missing voucher during the trip was quickly resolved. Then upon our return we have been contacted to see if we enjoyed ourselves, simply 1st class. The length of time allocated in each place was ideal but we both felt that we didn't need to stay the night in Greymouth. Looking back we would have preferred to pick up the car, visit the Shantytown and then head towards Frans Josef (possibly stopping somewhere else), however the weather could have played a part as it was miserable. In conclusion the holiday was superb, New Zealand is a stunning country especially the South Island and we would have no hesitation in recommending Relaxing Journeys and returning to NZ in the future.

We had fully intended to write spontaneously to thank you for a delightful tour, but were delayed by a two week sojourn in Australia visiting old friends and arrived back to the UK this morning. The Island of Delights lived up to its name and we enjoyed it thoroughly. We were incredibly lucky with the weather seeing the peak of Mount Cook without cloud and Milford Sound with perfect visibility, which I gather is very rare. The only slightly negative point we would make is that we (and I think several others of the group) felt that Arrowtown didn't need a 2 hour stop, but a very minor point. We also found that our tour host, Graham, was excellent combining a great knowledge with a sense of humour that never left him. Many, many thanks. We will certainly recommend you to others.

As with the North Island 'Beaches & Vineyards' self drive tour I did earlier this month, I thoroughly enjoyed this tour as well. Both Marlborough Sounds and Able Tasman had amazing scenery. Getting to Lochmara & Awaroa Lodges by water taxi proved interesting. Restaurant in Lochmars was probably the best encountered in both North & South Islands. That in Marlborough Vintners Hotel not far behind. Enjoyed day spent in Marlborough touring a number of vineyards. As in the North Island, all the hotels were of a high standard. The chalets in Lochmara Lodge were somewhat more basic than those in Awaroa Lodge. The heli-hike on the Franz Josef glacier proved to be quite a challenging experience, which I would not wish to repeat. Surprised that they did not separate the groups by age and and fitness level. Favourite place visited - probably Nelson.

Wow, What a amazing place. The sites were beautiful and each city had it's own flare. Relaxing Journeys did an exceptional job with the setup and execution of the tour. We loved the tour - would highly reccomend small group touring - we were very lucky in that our group all got on so well together. Our driver/tour director was a lot of fun and put up with a lot of ribbing re his accent and the fact he almost left our cases behind on the first day (ie John's and mine) It was only an intuition of John's than made him check that our cases had been loaded!!! The accomodation at Franz Joseph and Arrowtown - excellent. Loved the cruise on the Milford Sound BUT would have appreciated knowing beforehand that we could not take suitcases on the boat - had to go out and buy an overnight bag and we have heaps at home! Enjoyed our stay on Stewart Island though the ferry trip out was not pleasant to say the least. The only disappointment was the last night at Lake Ohau - a long detour of the main road for a beautiful view but sub-standard rooms. We had not paid for backpacker quality accomodation - however the dining and lounge rooms were good, the food very good & the staff were lovely. In short stunning scenery, lots of fun and laughter with a great group of people leaves us with many happy memories.

The tour was excellent. For the type of tour, the accommodation was good, the Mercure Resort in Queenstown being excellent. The meals and service in all the hotels were excellent. The itinerary of the tour was excellent and the available time for optional tours was well organised. The transfers from and to the airports were on time and the driver's guidance at the airports was appreciated. The tour bus was comfortable and the bus 'Chauffeur' Tamati Tehuia was extremely skilled in handling the driving. His attitude was totally professional, cordial and helpful with a good humour at all times. Jo Smith the Tour Director was incredible. Her personality, jovial ways, organising ability, her thoughtfullness, local knowledge and knowledge of the traditions and history of New Zealand were all brilliant. The only suggestion I would have, is that after a day on the road a self service dinner would be more appropriate than a sit down and waited on meal as it was at the Kingsgate hotel in Dunedin. It takes too long to be served.

Both Margaret and I had a wonderful trip with a most knowledgeable and informative driver/guide in Graham. I appreciate that he has been involved in the tour business since the 70s but his knowledge, attention and courtesy made the tour. We were fortunate also in that we had a delightful group of people, which in the circumstances, is down to the luck of the draw. We found the accommodation excellent with great full breakfasts! Leaving us alone at the various stops with plenty of time to find our own morning teas lunches etc is a great idea. If our paths crossed, then we might join another couple or proceed on our own – all very relaxing. We were lucky with the weather particularly, when Phillis (from Texas) had her rain jacket with her. On those occasions, the weather seemed to change for the good, just when we needed it. From memory, there were only two set meals (other than breakfasts). A dinner at Duxton Hotel, Okawa Bay which left a little to be desired and the other, which more than made up for it, a lunch barbecue on a large boat capable of carrying 60 to 70 people. We were the only ones on it and had, perhaps, the best day of the tour. The skipper/trout catcher/chef, John (I think his surname is O’Keefe) and his assistant did a magnificent job with the food and drinks. We were lucky as the weather was perfect. For the rest, it was just great. I’m not a “bus” tourist but this was something quite different. Keep them small, leave them to find their lunches, dinners etc and give them plenty of time and I’m sure you’ll never be short of takers. I have written to Graham but would still ask that you pass on our thanks and best wishes for a great trip and to Rosemary for morning tea. We may look at the South Island next year perhaps and will let you know.

All areas that the tour went to were excellent. Very interesting from a cultural & natural perspective. Accomodation was above satisfactory. Special mention to Ted our Tour Director. His sense of humour and personality really made the tour I think. Linda was also a very careful driver. All in all, a fantastic trip with no complaints. Would definately recommend to others. Cheers.

Well what can I say, tremendous time in a beautiful country. Please thank you and all of the of the staff at Relaxing Journeys, for my wife and myself we could not of had a better holiday. The way that everything was put together from the start with the cars to the motels we stayed in and the friendliness of the staff of the motels, to the functions and trips that you said would be of interest we couldn't of asked for anything more. If anyone ever asks about driving in your own country please ask them to do it, because it gives you time to stop and look around and photograph some of the dramatic countryside we have ever seen. The holiday was great. We were lucky with the weather and missed most of the rain. We made a change in the itinerary from Queenstown to Milford Sound to Te Anau by switching the Milford Sound trip to the following day and taking in the glow worm caves on the first day at Te Anau. This let us have a relaxed drive to Te Anau without the thought that we needed to drive a long distance in one day. This is something you may consider for future planning. It was fortunate from a weather point of view as well because the first day the road to Milford had snow and would have required chains. The next day was clear and was great. The nature trip on the sound was outstanding. Generally the hotels were good. Some were noisy, some had small rooms and some required us to haul our bags up stairs but overall we found the people very helpful. We wished that we had more time and it did give us an appetite for at least another visit. We loved the relaxed atmosphere and the friendliness of the New Zealand people. Thanks for your help in the organization of the trip.

Thank you for the prompt to leave feedback. From my initial contact with Craig Harris I was impressed with the personal manner and the nothing is any trouble attitude. The tour itinerary was fantastic and exceeded our expectations, leaving just enough time to recoup before the next leg of our journey. The accommodation was superb and geographically practical. The coach trip to Milford Sounds was brilliant, with the purpose built bus making the trip very comfortable. What impressed us most was the female driver, who was a wealth of information and a great driver. The Glacier cruise was another highlight, and a must for anyone visiting Mt Cook. We were very fortunate with the weather, making your beautiful landscape look even more spectacular with cloudless blue sky. The folder containing coupons and map etc was a great tool and make the trip very organized and hassle free. We received a phone call from New Zealand tourism to check on how we were doing which was a nice touch. I have recommended Relaxing journeys to everyone I have spoken to about our trip to NZ, and highlight the fact it exceeded all our expectations. I look forward to see the north Island with you help in the future.

A most enjoyable tour even if I was the only Brit amongst 34 Aussies!!! The coaches were comfortable and as they were 48 seaters we had plenty of room to move to other seats if they were free. The Guide and drivers were first class and could not do enough to ensure we had a good time. The itinerary was nicely varied and the fact that most stops were for two nights meant that one could unpack the suitcase and do some laundry.T he hotels were all good quality and the rooms excellent. Food was first rate everywhere. I'd waited some 59 years to visit and I was not disappointed. The hospitality and friendliness of your people reminded me of what it was like in the UK many years ago, don't lose it. Only problem I had was the dreadful rate of exchange, but then you can't have everything!! Thank you for your help in making my trip one of a lifetime (and I've travelled quite extensively around Europe and further afield). I would certainly recommend Relaxing Journeys and Grand Pacific.

I deliberately chose this particular tour because it covered the east coast of the North Island which I had missed on a previous trip to NZ. I thoroughly enjoyed the tour and will never forget the amazing scenery, particularly the beautiful beaches and snow-capped mountains. No complaints about the hotels - all were of a high standard. Would have had difficulty finding some without the GPS receiver. Enjoyed all the side trips, particularly the Crocodile Dundee adventure, the boat trip to White Island and the Hawkes Bay winery tour. Did not anticipate having to drive so many twisty roads and one-lane bridges! Favourite place visited - probably Napier.

Overall a reasonably good tour. However we wish the optional excursions had been better explained byt he driver/guide, as some proved to be costly and with hindsight we would not have taken up. For example we paid for the TranzAlpine train journey but having also been persuaded to take the Taiperi Gorge train trip too - felt it was inappropriate. They were similar and expensive in our opinion. Most people were keen to take a longer time at some places and perhaps include some guided walking. The trip was too sedentary; some walking with guides could have been included instead of the 'optional trips'. The driver Trevor was careful and drove well. The hotels were good as were the meals.

We had a fantastic holiday. South Island was especially beautiful. The coach was fine, the drivers & guides were excellent. Hotels were of a good standard and food generally was also good. It was our first ever coach tour. If we had some 'niggles' these were: some of the attractions were not at all intersting, but the majority were fine & a couple of days involved too much driving with very little to break the journey. Maybe there was nothing significant to stop and look at on those days? Overall we thoroughly enjoyed the trip.

This had to be without a doubt, the best holiday I have ever been on! Our tour director Julie was fantastic, she knew so much about New Zealand and it history I was enthralled by everything we were told. The places we visited were extraordinary and so beautiful that when I look at my photos I am still stunned. The tour was extremely well organised and the extra excursions were extremely good value for money. It was memorable and and we truly enjoyed the journey. Our coach captain Mr Evrard has been truly wonderful. There was some parts of the itinerary (like at Greytown where we spent about 2 hours without doing anything but a stroll through the main street that tooks us less than 15mins to complete) where the stop was more of time-wasting than anything else as there were better towns where we could stopped by and spent more time with. It would also have been better if our rooms were given on twin share basis, i.e. one king size bed (instead of 2 singles as was the case in some rooms along the trip) but overall the tour was a beauty. Well done! Hope to do more tours with you in the future.

Thank you so much Relaxing Journeys for an amazing time. We thought the tour was fantastic from the first moment being collected from the airport to the end. The driver in the South island made us all feel really welcome and comfortable and made it easy to integrate with others on the tour. The changing of seats was particularly helpful I felt. We thought the South island in particular was amazing, scenery, activities, helicopter ride to glazier, hiking in Queenstown, Haggis in Dunedin & scenery up the East coast. All hotels were really nice and friendly, dinners and breakfasts were top of the range we thought. Activities at night were fun and varied! We thought the North island was great also, very different! We lost touch with a few people we had shared the tour with up until that point (including the bus driver!) so it was like starting again - a second holiday! Rotorua amazed us with its uniqueness - smell and volcanoes! Auckland was nice, lots to do, shopping etc, Bay of islands was a contrast to Auckland, really nice! You've treated us great, I would recommend you to anyone. You in particular Georgie were really helpful at the start answering all our questions. We were worried about handing over so much money over the internet as this is the first time we've done something like this - but you made us feel at ease from the start and we knew we could trust you. Thank you also for reducing the cost of our trip as we were traveling in a group of 3 and didn't want our friend to have to pay the single person hotel supplement - you sorted this out for us and she only shared for 1 week of the 15 days which was great! Thanks Goergie for everything, you, your company and your country for a trip of a lifetime - and not an overly expensive trip of a lifetime either! Thank you.

Wonderful tour. No complaints whatsoever. Both tour guides were great offering excellent commentary throughout mixed in with jokes here and there and lots of laughter. Food was very good, excellent breakfasts throughout - of course we both put on a little weight! New Zealand is a beautiful country and going on a bus tour was an excellent way of seeing the countryside with superb commentary. Georgie was an excellent representative of Relaxing Journeys, always answering my emails promptly with whatever concerns I had. If we ever get to Australia or New Zealand again we will certainly contact Relaxing Journeys and I will recommend them if any of our friends visit these two countries. Thank you all.

We thoroughly enjoyed our tour of the south island of New Zealand. The itinerary all fell into place and we were impressed with the efficiency of the planning and booking procedures at short notice. Prompt feedback from Relaxing Journeys during this process was always pleasing and reassuring. The vouchers were a great way to travel knowing everything was booked that we had requested. We did not have any hassels with this system. There was still enough flexibility to plan other activities although near the end of our journey we had to keep on the move to allow for greater distances of travel. The tour more than fulfilled our expectations. From the moment we were met at Christchurch airport and conveyed tour hotel, everything went like clockwork. The accommodation throughout was very good and the meals were excellent. Our driver, Trevor, was absolutely first class, a mine of information, and nothing seemed too much trouble for him. It would be difficult to pick out highlights - perhaps the stay in Queenstown and the Skyline Restaurant and the drive to Milford Sound were most memorable. The only disappointment was the Cadbury visit. Joining a tour with a load of strangers can be awkward, but we all seemed to get on well together which helped make the tour such a great experience. Thank you for providing us with a trip of a lifetime and for the most efficient organisation behind the tour and the personal help you gave us.

Fantastic, what a beautiful country. From the rugged west coast down to the picturesque Fiordlands and on to the Canterbury Plains and the east coast, this island has it all. The complete tour was well organised and the acommodation was, on the the whole very good. I would have to say the highlight of the trip was an organised tour to Milford Sound with a return trip to Queenstown by plane, great scenary. Looks as though I will have to organise another trip with Relaxing Journeys to New Zealand in the near future. Maybe the North Island next time. Well done Relaxing Journeys.

I thoroughly enjoyed the tour. Both drivers were very knowledgeable and helpful, and everything ran smoothly. I appreciated being welcomed at the airport by Barbara, who also was at Rydges on morning 1 to make sure our pickup went well. The buses were very comfortable, and it was great having enough room to spread out, and having 2 doors made entry and egress quicker. The accommodation was largely excellent, although Fox Glacier Hotel was rather run down and views from some rooms were very ordinary. The hotel at Fiordland National Park was first class, with excellent views, but the buffet food, two nights running was just average. On the other nights I felt the food was most enjoyable and generous. The excursions were first class. I particularly enjoyed the Earnslaw steamer trip, and Walter Peak station was first class, with delicious food and fun entertainment. I would definitely recommend your company and trip to others. Thank you for offering such a quality product.

I want to thank Relaxing Journeys & Kirra Tours for making our first anniversary trip with my partner such a splendid experience. Georgina was incredibly helpful in assisting me to make the bookings and gave as much information as possible from my first query all the way up to the final trip confirmation. Although it was winter , the tour was marvellous as we had everything planned out so thoroughly and a real warm welcome when we first arrived at Christchurch. The airport transfer was smooth and timely. From day 1 until the day 7 in the South Island, it was magnificent sceneries all the way, despite the rain towards the end of our trip. We prayed for good weather, and we had blue skies for most of the days. From snow capped mountains, glorious lakes, waterfalls, fiords to watching the sunset at the hilltop, gondola rides, the yellow eyed penguins and stunning albatrosses, it was breathtaking and perfect place for photography. John, our tour cum coach guide had great stories and very informative commentaries during our coach ride throughout. He had us in stitches with his anecdotes and witty jokes every now and then. The tour would certainly not be complete with John's company. The food provided, both breakfast and dinner was scrumptious, the accommodation was simple and cosy. We have nothing but only great comments of overall hospitality of the people we met during the tour as well as the organisers. Again, thank you Relaxing Journeys for providing us with this memorable experience, myself and my partner would be coming back to New Zealand again and looking forward to exploring the North Island hopefully next year.

My wife and I arrived in Christchurch late in the evening of 8/8/09 and were met and escorted to our motel. The driver was friendly and informative which set the tone for the entire holiday. The Pavilions Motel was excellent and the staff friendly and helpful. The bus driver (John) was a real gentleman with a wealth of local knowledge and driving experience. He made everyone feel welcome and was always available for questions or additional information. We travelled a lot of kilometres and always felt safe in John's hands. The scenery was spectacular and John's commentary exceptional. The only criticism I could offer would be the limited `free' time available. The day stopover in Queenstown broke the travelling and a second break would have been welcomed, just to break the trip a bit. Overall the holiday was well worth the money and I would highly recommend it to anyone contemplating visiting New Zealand. Relaxing Journeys took all the hassle out of travelling and I would highly recommend them. New Zealand is a wonderful country with spectacular scenery, friendly people and fine food.

We had a great time - John ODonoghue is worth his weight in gold. His knowledge of the country and how he shared it with the group was very entertaining. The only downside was that there was no hot water at the Bo motel where we stayed prior to driving to Milford Sound. Otherwise the accommodation and food was quite good throughout the journey. We were fortunate with the weather and road conditions. The only sight we missed out on seeing was the glaciers due to the weather. Apart from that the scenery was magnificent. Thanks

The tour was intended to give my mother and I a highlights tour of the breathtaking NZ landscape. We were crushingly disappointed that we were unable to visit the jewel in the crown of the trip - Milford Sound - due to adverse weather conditions. The tour advisor helped rearrange the accommodation when this part of the trip fell over, and we were pleasantly surprised to be offered a refund of the cost of the Milford Sound trip without having to ask. The service has been excellent throughout

We really enjoyed the tour. The South Island in particular was amazing. A lot of time was spent travelling, but we knew this before we started. The TranzCoastal train was a lovely experience. We were constantly asked for vouchers, we didn't receive any vouchers until we arrived in Christchurch roughly half way through the journey. While I understand time is of the essence, in both Auckland and Rotorua we were collected early from our hotels, only to be driven to a very near by bus station and then had to wait for a further hour in one case and 90 mins in the other to join a connecting service, this wasn't the most productive use of time. The bus drivers were all friendly and very knowledgeable, which was a real asset. While the hotels in Wellington and Christchurch were perfectly fine, they were located quite a distance from the city centres, this required additional costs for taxis etc. The highlight of the tour was Queenstown, it's such a lovely place, it was an ideal location to have had the free day.

To tell you the truth it was a wonderful experience from the first dinner. None of us had met before we seemed to bond very quickly as a group. I myself a religious sister did not feel out of place wearing my religious habit. Our tour guide was Ted and our driver was Linda. Wherever where we travelled the bad weather was behind us, so we had perfect weather, except the last day we prayed to see snow falling and God answered our prayer to our joy and our poor drivers dismay. Don't worry we back tracked and went a different way to Christchurch. It was a wonderful trip I will not seek to do it again because I would spoil my first trips memories. One thing I can say is to help other people with allergies in food, The Ibis Hotel did not try to supply me with Proper Breakfast cereal or Non wheat bread and I had spent over four days there. Other hotels had proper breakfast cereal and no bread, went out of their way to get both. If the people with food problems could have their needs met at the hotels life would be a breeze. God bless Ted And Linda they did a great job.

We had a really great time in South Island. Everything was perfectly arranged. The accommodation were all really good, all have Qualmark quality. Although we are a foreigner and first time in NZ, we didn't have any problem at all. Your services were very, very good. The only problem we had was about lunch & dinner. We arrived at Te Anau around 8-9 pm & we were so starving. It's a very quiet place & we couldn't find any restaurant. We tried to order a delivery, but all closed already. With the weather so cold, we slept with an empty stomach. Overall, we are very satisfied with your service. Thank you very much for everything.

I thoroughly enjoyed the whole trip. Hotel rooms were very good - in fact better than I thought they'd be (particularly the Scenic Circle Airedale in Auckland). The tour coach driver on the Saturday (20 June - Auckland to Paihia) was fantastic. Full of knowledge and gave excellent commentary (he also drove from Waitomo to Auckland on 24 June). As was Derek who took the Cape Reinga trip on the Sunday (21 June). He was a lovely friendly man. The Bay of Islands tour was supposed to stop at Otehi Bay and we were meant to be able to get off for a walk - didn't happen. It was meant to go until approximately 5.30 pm - finished at 4 pm. I have a feeling I paid for an extended tour and got the short version. But a lovely tour of the beautiful islands. The guy who took the Rotorua Morning Sights tour (23 June) was hopeless. Pointing out the 'Girls School' and 'church' and the 'park' and the 'bay' (no names) does not constitute an interesting tour of the town. Some more descriptions of interesting places would be good. I also thought that the tours at Te Puia, Rainbow Springs and the Agrodome were too short. Half an hour in the attraction then half and hour in the gift shop! At Rotorua I gained no knowledge of this fascinating area from any of the tour guides, either on the bus or at Te Puia. I wasn't informed that I needed to bring bathers and a towel for the Hells Gate Mud Bath and Spa. On reflection it seems obvious, but I thought that the bath and spa would be extra and I'd just not do that, but it was included in my cost, so to have brought my own bathers would have been useful! Hells Gate itself was fantastic. The self guided tour enabled me to gain a great deal of information about this area - great. The hotel at Rotorua (Kingsgate) was lovely but too far from anywhere. However, overall it was a great trip. I would recommend it to others (I'd just warn them they will be sitting on a bus much more than the itinerary alludes to).

It was a very nice tour. I got to meet people of differing backgrounds and I was well-treated. I liked the optional offers and most importantly for a lone traveller, I never felt alone once. So, overall, it was well worthwhile, especially, when you do not know where to cover on your own in New Zealand.

We of course didn't realize the routine of how the voucher system worked, so could be of no assistance. We stayed at the same hotel later in the trip and was provided a boxed breakfast because of a early bus departure, the food was not acceptable. I give high marks to the voucher system, we were able to see a huge portion of the Country in an enjoyable fashion. Thanks for the journey, I would recommend it to other travellers.

Just wanted to drop you a line to thank you for a lovely holiday. Everything went really well, with only one small disappointment and that was the Wilkin River Jet Boats was cancelled because water levels were too low. Everything else was really amazing and spectacular. The vistas of the South Island were unbelievably beautiful with each new one being better than the last (if that was possible). We had a marvellous time, the weather was really kind to us. We had it all except rain, and when ever it turned bad it was either the day before we got somewhere or the day after we left. Views of Mt Cook were great. You guys organised everything for us beautifully. N0 hassles, no mix ups, everything went like a well oiled machine. Thank you so much for the wonderful effort you put into preparing everything for us. Next time we will have to do the North Island. I certainly know which mob to refer my friends to when they're planning a trip to NZ.

The trip was excellent. The group was unusually comfortable and congenial, Graham Duff was a superb guide, help, source of information, and great good cheer. New Zealand is truly a spectacular place and we feel we saw as much of it as is possible in a short time. We took away only the best feelings about the country and the tour company. I would not hesitate to recommend it. It was a perfect mix of together and on our own. We were able to compliment it with a longer stay in Wellington at the end visiting our family there for 6 months. I realize it is not possible to cram everything into a short trip but it would be nice if everyone could see more of Wellington. It would have been nice to know the names of our fellow trip mates before meeting them but I realize that is not always possible. Good luck and I would love to return to New Zealand. It does not seem likely but then, life is unpredictable. Thank you for all the hand-holding before the trip and our warmest regards to Graham. And the weather in Chicago is still an adventure. When you come to visit, try May or mid-September.

Only one thing I would have liked, is on first afternoon that was free time, Tour of treaty grounds to be included, and then perhaps a ferry return ticket to Russell Island. That would have made tour complete. We missed out on Russell, as didn't realise its significance. Thoroughly enjoyed tour would highly recommend. Booking on line was made so easy. Thanks Pauline.

To start the train trip over the alps from Christchurch to Greymouth was excellent-- Bus services and drivers also good. Hotels a little up and down, some very good some ok!. The idea on an independent holiday to have an extra day at every overnight stop was the very bestest!! idea, just that little bit extra time for sight seeing and relaxing. I undertook the Glacierland tour with my parents and I must say, we all had a very good time. Everything was well-organised and instructions were clear, from the accommodation to the transportation. The people we met along our travels were so friendly and helpful. However, I do like to comment on the accommodation in Te Anau where we were booked for a night there. We stayed in Aden Motel and it was quite a distance (by foot) from town. By the time we arrived in Te Anau, it was late and dark and we still had to make our way to town for dinner. Although it was a 10-15 minute walk to town, it was very unpleasant and unsafe as there were minimal street lights and the area was extremely quiet. No people, no traffic. Only the freezing wind and some showers. We did fear for our safety and hoped that no mishap would befall us en route to and from town. Aden Motel itself was very cold too. They only had a small oil-filled column heater in the bedroom and a small heat pump in the common room. Plus, the warm water in shower ran out quickly. The last person showering had only cold water to use. The temperature that night was 4 degrees. All in all, the trip went very well and all the other accommodation were comfortable. I just wished our Te Anau accommodation was nearer to town and more comfortable.

Great trip, a pity about the weather. We did everything we wanted to do except the Skipper Cannon trip. The wilderness lodges were fantastic. At both, we were looked after and everything was centered around what we wanted to do. Absolutely fantastic. Five stars. Worth another visit. Siberan experience was delayed 5 days but worth the wait. It was really a great adventure. Five stars the Edgewater Resort was our next favourite stay. Wanaka is still small even though progress is commencing. Loved the town and the surrounding drives and walks. Resort was nearly empty but still great. Rive stars. Millbrook Resort was large and not so welcoming. The car is parked a distance from your room (300 mtrs) and no cover from car to room. Not so good in rain and snow. It just seem very spread out and not personal. Arrowtown was quaint and I would stay there rather than Queenstown. Loved the autumn colours. Mt Cook was our lucky day the sun was shinning. Accommodation at Lake Tekapo was very good. The morning greeted us with a blanket of snow. We loved the way we had a few days at every destination as it allowed us to have a great rest. Thank you for your help!

I enjoyed the trip and driver was very informative and professional. Coach was comfortable and most of the hotels were good especially the Sudima. However the Angus was absolutely horrible! I also would have preferred that we stay in Napier and have some extra time to wander around. I was also disappointed when we arrived in Paihai to be offered another bus trip to go to the top of the North Island (the tour to take when you are already on tour). I did not think that on only the second day of tour we needed a whole day break, and would have liked a few more hours in Rotorua. Thought the itinerary was good and gave a good introduction to the North Island.

The Journey on Sunday to Paihia was very enjoyable with the driver Peter giving lots of information and being most helpful. The visit to Waitangi Treaty grounds (not included in our trip but on Peter's advice joining) was very interesting and the young Maori who took the tour was sincere and completely enthralled by the history of his people. The hotel was very comfortable although the food left a lot to be desired. The breakfast having been put onto hotplates for too long and therefore the eggs and bacon being chewy and unpalatable. The tour to the Cape Reinga was long and not informative although we may have been spoilt by Peter our first driver. Unfortunately the Ninety Mile beach was closed due to a Tapu . The BBQ meal at the sailing club was OK. We saw Dolphins the next day which was great. The boat we travelled on was well staffed and a treat to be on. The journey back to Auckland was OK.

The total trip went beautifully without any problem. Georgie Walpole was great in finding a tour which met our date requirements, all the flights were on time believe it or not, and the weather was perfect with great temperatures and sun most of the time even on the west coast. The clouds even cleared just long enough for us to get a good view of Mount Cook. The tour director and coach driver were organized, respectful, informative, and humorous. I had a really great trip - the hotels were good - a couple of hiccups, but nothing that couldn't be sorted out, the shuttles and coaches arrived on time and the drivers were 'top class'. I am a nervous passenger but didn't feel any apprehension at all. The last driver we had from Queenstown via Mt Cook to Christchurch was fantastic - he made his commentaries more personal and it made a huge difference. Unfortunately I cannot remember his name. We were very impressed with all the things that had been pre-booked and organised for us. Everything was as stated in the information and everywhere we went our vouchers were accepted without fuss. The chosen hotels were clean and comfortable and the hire cars reliable. The only two suggestions (and these weren't really a major problem) 1. The pick up point for the Dart River Safari in Queenstown was stated as the entrance to our hotel (Sherwood Manor Hotel Goldfield Heights Frankton Road Queenstown). We were waiting at the front for about 30 mins and the bus was waiting on the highway. In the end they rang the hotel to see where we were. If any future people do this tour it could just be stated that the pick up point is at the bus stop on the main highway travelling towards Queenstown). 2. The GPS was fantastic, but some of the accommodation addresses did not include street numbers. This sometimes resulted in not knowing what end of the street to go to and with long streets it sometimes took a while to find the accommodation. So if street numbers could be included, the GPS would take you straight there. Thank you for a fantastic holiday itinerary and organisation. We certainly enjoyed the tour. Everything went smoothly with all arrangements that you made. While the hotel lobby is a very busy place, it was a good central place for other things we did while in Auckland. It was also convenient that we could leave most of our luggage at the hotel while we were on the overnight trip. Both the Auckland and Rotorua hotels were very good and the breakfasts included were also very good. The coach drivers did a good job of providing information along the way and telling us about New Zealand. The drivers were prompt and courteous and helpful to those who needed some extra assistance. Guides on all the planned activities were pleasant and informative. We enjoyed the activities in both Waitomo and Rotorua. The morning in Rotorua was very packed with places to visit and it would have been nice to have a little more time between each stop. However, we also realized that programs are only given at certain times and you have to work around that. With that said, we would not have wanted to miss any of the places you planned for us and know that things like this happen. Thank you for your part in making this a very enjoyable trip.

I can't thank Relaxing Tours enough for organising our fly/drive holiday. The itinerary went according to plan and I felt we had the time to do the things we wanted to do. The tours included in the itinerary were all great. There was only one minor problem in that Europcar did not deliver the car to the hotel in Auckland but they ended up paying for the taxi fare to get to them. All other changeovers went smoothly. My main suggestion for improvement would be to have a map with the full route highlighted to show which road to travel on. There were a couple of places where there were two routes that could be taken and the itinerary didn't suggest which one to use. Both take about the same amount of time so it would only be if one route was more interesting than the other. I wouldn't have any hesitation in recommending Relaxing Tours or the tour we went on.

We had a great time. We were interested in the Maori Culture and were happy with what we learned. Especially enjoyed the commentary from the Maori bus drivers. We did give ourselves some down time in between tours and that worked our very well for us, since we're older. Also some time on our own to see Auckland and Christchurch was really nice. The weather was wonderful the whole 3 weeks which of course was a real plus. Would definitely recommend both of the tours we took. Thanks for the help.

We had a great time, coach was very comfortable and good commentary from Trevor. All accommodation and meals were very acceptable and met some very nice people. Over all a 9 out of 10. The only complaint we had was at Dunedin, the day tour we booked, the Nature tour where we supposed to have seen the castle gardens, Albatross and seals colony, we only got to see the seals as the bus left early, not at 2.30 as scheduled, so by the time they got other transport was getting late. We would have asked for a refund but time did not allow. We would recommend your tour to other people.

An excellent touring holiday. In the time available to me I was very satisfied that I managed to see most of the major points of interest and get a glimpse of the beauty of North and South Islands of New Zealand. I would love to tour NZ again one day with more time to savour the magnificent scenery. Throughout my time in NZ the tour organisation was perfect and most impressive. Obviously a well tried and tested receipt. The standard of accommodation (Bronze) throughout the tour was very good and exceeded my expectations, however on 2 occasions I thought that the hotels were rather remote from the town centres. e.g.. In Rotorua and Christchurch. A local bus service did help in Christchurch but in Rotorua it was over a mile to the town centre. Fortunately I enjoyed the walks but at most stops the hotels were very convenient. Thank you for your help in showing NZ to me in all its glory. I will recommend your tours in all my travel stories to friends.

A thoroughly enjoyable experience. This was our first coach tour and we were very impressed by the efficient organisation from the moment we were met at the airport and throughout the whole ten days. The coach captain, Mike, was very knowledgeable, humorous and friendly - a real asset to the tour company. Most of the hotels were well appointed and provided excellent meals. The only real exception to this was the Heartland Hotel Cotswold where the food and service was much below the standard of the rest. We can only have great praise for the arrangements for the tour at quite short notice. All of our e-mail contacts were answered promptly and the pre-tour information was very helpful. We were met at the airport as promised and the tour went exactly as planned. The tour director, Marty was very knowledgeable and most gracious to all the travellers. We were provided with lots of extra adventures and clearly advised of the cost beforehand. It added extra spice and excitement to the trip which participants could have as much of as they felt like. I located Relaxing Journeys on the internet via a Google search. A few clicks around their website showed that they were a very professional and experienced tour operator. All information was clear, concise and available easily. That in itself gave me to confidence to consider booking my trip with them. I had a few questions which I emailed them and I received a prompt and clear answer. Once I arrived in NZ, everything moved like clockwork. There were no unpleasant surprises. The accommodation they booked for me was comfortable, clean and well appointed - exactly as it says on their website. The coaches arrived on time and everyone was really friendly and helpful. Regular stops along the way ensured that everyone was comfortable. The little cafes where we stopped were lovely and the food was great, and reasonably priced. One minor hiccup where a transfer didn't take place on time, but it was soon resolved via a phone call and things went back to working smoothly. Thank you Relaxing Journeys. Your country and your hospitality made my visit something I will talk about for a long long time.

The tour was absolutely fantastic, all accommodation was good quality and very comfortable except the 1 night stay on the outskirts of Wellington. That 1 place was very unwelcoming and felt like staying in a box, it was only 1 night and didn’t spoil the holiday. The rest was fabulous good space, good food, service with a smile and great views. South island was just great, friendly people and good service with scenery to die for. Lots of adventure trips, helicopter rides, glow worm caves and jet boat rides and a place to return to. North Island was more cultural and felt at times like a different country. Overall about the best holiday we have had and would love to go back.

The quality of Hotels and "exclusive experiences" was excellent and our tour leader, Laurel and our Coach Driver, Paul, added greatly to our enjoyment. One suggestion we would make, however, is that when people are joining a tour, it would be beneficial to host a welcome meeting with all tourer's present. We joined an existing tour and it took a few days to get to know the others, who had been on the tour of the North Island for over a week. Finally I am getting around to letting you know that we had an ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS TIME on our NZ holiday. It was indeed RELAXING but also exciting, educational, fattening and fun!! What a beautiful country!! We collected our car (which was upgraded from a medium car to a 4WD Hyundai Tucson) without a problem and managed to work our way around the island to our various accommodations without a problem. The changeover of vehicles at the Ferry Terminals was a very good system. On the whole, 16 days (plus the couple of extra days) was enough to whet our appetites and see what there is on offer in NZ. We had a wonderful time, the vehicles were great and accommodation was fine. The route was well thought out and the package was reasonably priced and suited us well. We would recommend doing the trip the South Island first then the North Island because there was so much on the South Island that when we arrived on the North Island we were quite pleased to take it a bit easier, especially with our time at Rotorua to enjoy our spa etc. We were impressed by how much all the guides and representatives enjoyed and were passionate about their work. They certainly helped us enjoy our stay and feel our entry fees/donations were value for money. We thank you for your all your assistance and recommendations.

First of all, the weather was great - only one day of rain out of 14; next, we were with a lovely party of people with a great leader/guide in Graham Duff - what he doesn't know about the country, its history, geology and geography isn't worth knowing. We also appreciated the wonderfully comfortable mini-bus. Last of all we were in one of the most beautiful countries in the world - we were "gobsmacked" by all the beautiful views and have come home with a host of memories (and photos!!). This visit was something we had dreamed about doing for many years but never thought we'd actually get there - so a dream fulfilled. Thank you for everything you and your staff did to make the trip run so smoothly.

The tour, though low cost, was very good. The tour director was very helpful and informative. Hotels were good and some had fantastic views from the rooms. In the short period, most of the tourist attractions were covered. The tour representative, AAT Kings was excellent. The hotel rooms adequate (exception was Kingsgate in Wellington, which should have had 2 twin beads in our room instead of 1 twin and 1 king. It made the room much too small.) We returned home safely on Monday afternoon after our month away in NZ & Australia. The NZ leg of our trip exceeded all expectations. The arrangements that were made were excellent and the information pack we received at Auckland airport was extremely good - the vouchers presented no problems and the travel information was very reliable and accurate. We were impressed with the quality of the studio units and the helpfulness of the owners/managers. Invariably, they offered good advice on their locality and provided excellent information for us. It was a completely trouble free trip. We have travelled a lot in our retirement and rarely do we want to re-visit places. NZ, however, will be the exception. The people, culture, scenery were all wonderful experiences and we hope to return before we get too old and arthritic. Many thanks for the organisation - it was great.

We had a wonderful time in NZ. In fact, the trip surpassed our expectations. The motel accommodations were comfortable and within easy access to everything. The itinerary with planned stops and free time were exactly what we were looking for. We especially loved the South island, our favorite stop being Queenstown. We decided to include a GPS with our car rental, which really made getting around worry free. You might like to offer a GPS option as part of your car rental service. The people were friendly and welcoming. The sites were awesome! Thank you for making our trip truly amazing. We will definitely recommend Relaxing Journeys to our friends.

This was my first coach tour experience, so it was a little bit of a shock to my system - but it was great fun, and a great bunch of people. The early starts were a bit demanding at times! The first coach was outstanding, very comfortable and with an excellent driver, who was knowledgeable, friendly and tremendous fun. The second coach was very good, but sounded like it was in need of a little TLC!! The driver was also very good, but mumbled a bit a times; he did have a great sense of humour, though! The tour was altogether very good, and was a wonderful introduction to New Zealand; highlights have to be Cape Reinga, the Coromandel Peninsula, Rotorua, and Milford Sound. That is missing out many other great moments, and the optional flight in a float-plane at Taupo was a life-long ambition realised. We were very fortunate to have extremely good weather for both the crossing between the Islands and Milford Sound, but lost out in seeing Mount Cook, and in seeing the Fox Glacier by helicopter. I hope I can go back some day and fill in some of the places I didn't get a chance to see, and spend more time in some of those I saw but briefly. Many thanks to you and the team for providing me with such outstanding memories of a beautiful country.

We have had a most wonderful trip. It has taken about 10 days to sort out all the laundry and put the cases away! Our NZ tour all worked well. We were impressed with the voucher system, the hotels were good and the bus service efficient. The unescorted tour option proved to be very good for us. We enjoyed the freedom of exploring on our own and decided that we were much better doing as we did and not what we planned originally. The TransAlpine train journey was wonderful and visiting Milford Sound breath-taking and we were pleased to be staying overnight at Te Anau and were spared the long ride back to Queenstown. The distinction hotel in Te Anau is literally around the corner from the bus depot. The only real disappointment was the final journey from Dunedin to Christchurch. The main bus route is uninteresting and rather tedious particularly as the weather was cold and very wet. An alternative may have been to fly back from Dunedin, or is it possible to travel by train? I did not consider at all Wanaka and it seems to be a lovely place to stay. If aware and with time to spare others may perhaps try to include a stay here. All in all, I feel that all the research was very worthwhile. We have had the holiday of a lifetime and have so many wonderful memories. We would like to thank you and your staff (Ms Debbi Smith) for putting together a wonderful self drive package for my wife & I. All went according to plan including the professional pick up at the Auckland airport till our departure 20 days later from Christchurch. The hotels, motels and resorts that we stayed at were first rate and the itinerary was well diversified. The only glitch in the program was our rental car reservation in Auckland was nowhere to be found, but a call to your office got Ms Smith involved in the problem and we were on our way in a short time. We also had a problem turning in the car at Wellington as there was no agent at the Europcar booth to take the key and paperwork as well as receive the GPS unit. We ended up turning in the GPS at Picton as we didn't want to carry it around everywhere we travelled. On their behalf, we received a "goodie" package from Europcar when we stopped overnight in Christchurch as a peace offering for the mix up. Overall, our trip was a wonderful 50th wedding anniversary adventure, and we have told our travel agent that she should have no qualms recommending your company to other customers. Superb Tour, well organised, the itinerary was absolutely spot on, had no problems anywhere. Other guests we met in the B&B's were most impressed with our travel instructions. One who was travelling with a sat nav with directions from one of your rivals was very envious of us and took details of your company for the next visit! We did a few diversions on our travels, the most notable was Thames, here we visited a church made from Kauri inside and out. It was the most beautiful church we had ever seen, and definitely worth a mention to any visitors to this area. We also found here a tour round an old gold mine, this was also very interesting. Another place we visited was Whangarei Falls. This also impressed us - quite spectacular, we did a very short circular walk around here. Betty coped with the driving very well but she was pleased to get back to her manual vehicle! The quiet roads were very novel to us we are more use to traffic jams. Two minor negative points. We did not feel welcome at Gothic Heights Motel Christchurch, too many rules, we were greeted with "we need a credit card in case you damage anything or leave any unpleasant smells, we charge $300.00 to fumigate a room". Whilst we understand they do not want other people to enter a room smelling of an unpleasant odour, we feel it could have been presented less aggressively. In Nelson we only had a very small studio apartment. The itinerary stated 2 bed apartment. However neither of these incidents dented our enjoyment. Those moans apart, all the B&B's were absolutely superb everyone was so friendly, and the rest of the motels were fine. The weather was kind most of the time and it all went too quickly. I would like to finish by saying thank you for the professional way our holiday was planned by you. The attention to detail and the expertise was really appreciated. We are more than willing to recommend your company to our family, friends and colleagues, because we know it will be well organised. Many thanks.

Everything exceeded our expectations! Did not know exactly what to expect, but the entire trip was fantastic! NZ is a lovely land full of friendly, honest and helpful folk. Good value everywhere due to a favorable exchange rate for Americans. Maurai tour guide, Marty, was outstanding in every way. He was organized, very friendly and extremely knowledgeable about all aspects of the tour including customs, history, geology, etc. Bus driver, Linda, was also wonderful. Safe and friendly. Accommodations and food were top rate everywhere as promised. We were also blessed with great weather everywhere. My only complaint was in regards to the ferry crossing from south to north islands. At port the sign said "moderate", but I was deathly ill from the moment we left the sound until we arrived at Wellington! None of this is anyone's fault except the port, who could be a bit more objective about sea conditions as MANY folks on the ship were very ill with huge waves crashing over the bow! I don't usually take coach holidays because too much time is often spent just sitting but Kirra Tours balanced the holiday with some physical activities as well (e.g. White Water Rafting Option, Luge, Kiwi Dundee Tour, Bay of Islands Cruise & Sailing at Auckland). This gave us more of an opportunity to get out and experience NZ! My wife & I both believe that the tour was excellent value for money (we had dinner & breakfast included in the cost) and have already recommended Relaxing Journeys to some of our friends. The organisation of the tour went perfectly with no dramas. The coach and accommodation were comfortable and the meals were very good. Our coach driver had a very good knowledge of NZ history and was entertaining as well as he showed us the many attractions of the North Island. My wife's need for a dairy-free diet was met and we have absolutely no complaints about the service your company offered us. Well done!

Hi Cameron, now that we are back home in Kingston after a four day stopover in Calgary and our sleep patterns have almost returned to normal, here's the feedback I promised you when we spoke briefly in Auckland. We have wonderful memories of our trip to New Zealand. As time goes along, we are more aware of the valuable role that you and Relaxing Journeys played in making our travel around your beautiful country truly "relaxing". We are so pleased that we chose to work with you in designing a custom itinerary, one that worked for us and our travel companions. So many of the tedious and frustrating aspects of daily travel life were arranged in advance, freeing us to enjoy the scenery along the way. We have already told many friends about Relaxing Journeys' quality services. The resource materials were excellent, especially the detailed driving instructions along our route. (There was only one exception that created minor confusion in Nelson getting to the Balmoral Motel). Providers were expecting us and with minor exceptions were gracious hosts. Thrifty proved - as expected - a good rental car provider. The arrangements worked smoothly with minimum fuss. In our case, Thrifty made a special effort to deliver a newer model to our Blenheim motel the morning after we arrived in Picton. The only car they had when we arrived was very old and dirty with almost 100,000 kms. The motels varied in quality, but we expected that given the need to have a studio and 2 bedroom combination for 13 nights during our shared itinerary. Some were excellent, most quite acceptable, and a couple were marginal in our view. Overall, they represented good value (we know this from endless web searches of New Zealand motels in the months leading up to our trip). We recognized too that they were chosen for their convenient locations in relation to arrival and departure in each city.

I am finally home and thought I would send an email to say how much I enjoyed the trip to the South Island of New Zealand. The driver - Trevor – was excellent. I think he definitely added to the enjoyment as his knowledge of the area and people was outstanding, not to mention his driving skills on the narrow winding roads. (Particularly near Milford Sound) Everything was well organised and the timings were perfect, it could not have been better. If possible will you let Trevor know how much I enjoyed it, even though I was on my own and a little apprehensive at first, to say the least.

My husband and I returned last Saturday from our New Zealand Adventure (16 Day Visions of New Zealand, with some add-ons). I want to tell you how much we appreciated the time Cam took to arrange all the details of the customized tour for us. My initial enquiry was responded to promptly; all my questions - and there were many - were answered; and additions/changes were made with professionalism and a sense of humor. From the time we were met at the airport in Auckland, until our last day in Christchurch, almost everything (except the weather some days) was perfect. We were pleased with our rental cars, meals (we weren't expecting so many cooked breakfasts), activities and most accommodations. The lodging exceeded our expectations in all but one place (pretty good since we stayed at 13 different establishments!). We were allowed to check in at whatever time we arrived. In most cities/towns we left the car in the car park and walked to restaurants, shops and attractions. It was so convenient to submit a voucher and get a rental car, lodging, transportation or admission to an attraction or activity. All we had to purchase were lunches and dinners that weren't included in the tour, petrol and souvenirs. The optional activities we chose were professionally run, educational, and a lot of fun. Cam's suggestions of places to visit outside our itinerary (Sky Tower, Maritime Museum, Puzzling World, Lower Hollyford Track, etc.) were excellent. We only wish we could have had more time at each stop! I have been singing the praises of Relaxing Journeys' wonderful service since returning home. I would say to those of you reading this who might be apprehensive about a driving tour if you're accustomed to driving on the right, don't let it stop you from driving in New Zealand. It's not as difficult as you might think!!

Just had to let you know how pleased we were with the tour. It was all very well organized so we were never rushed but still managed to do a lot of things. Our tour director, Sue Heycoop was amazing. She was always right on top of everything so it went like clockwork. What a wealth of knowledge she has of the country and presented it in such an interesting way. And the bus driver, Gavin Jensen was such a competent and careful driver as well as being very pleasant and accommodating to us all. The hotels were all great - the rooms and the meals. We felt that the itinerary was a good mix of attractions. So I guess by now you will realize we were very pleased with the whole trip and will certainly recommend any one planning a trip to New Zealand or Australia to use you services. And after my inquiries about taking a small case on the bus we managed just fine with a small case which was good as we had a full bus and there is not too much room.

Despite our flight to Christchurch being cancelled by Jetstar resulting is us arriving at 11.30pm we were still met at the airport and transported to our hotel by the delightful Frank. He have us an interesting history of places we passed on our short trip. Our very capable tour guide Robin had left clear directions for us, since we missed out on the met and greet night. Robin was excellent with great people skills and knowledge of NZ, she made sure we saw as much as possible and worked very hard to run a smooth holiday. Julian, our driver, was extremely careful and at all times we felt very safe in his capable hands. Julian always had a smile on his face and willing to assist whenever he could. There were two people on the tour who had mobility problems and Julian showed great empathy by giving them a hand when needed. We were happy with our hotels and meals, sometimes lunch or dinner was a tad too early but we understand that was to fit in with the intoner. NZ is a very beautiful country and we hope to visit again and we will certainly use your company, also we have already recommended you to friends.

The pacing of the travelling was just what we wanted and the standard of the accommodation you chose was top class. The only slight hitch that occurred was the late delivery of the first rental vehicle which put us behind schedule on our first day on the road but one phone call to yourselves and the matter was quickly sorted and arrangements changed to accommodate this. We received delivery of a gift of a hamper in Christchurch from Europcar as a gesture of apology and although unexpected it was very much appreciated. I really enjoyed the tour and everything went pretty well. The day of the Hokianga Harbour tour, I was a bit concerned as I did not get picked up until 1/2 hour later than scheduled. I think the driver was supposed to pick me up first or second, but I was picked up last. Also, the Shuttle to the airport at the end of the tour was quite delayed, but the hotel porter very kindly called to make sure they had not forgotten me and I did get to the airport in time for my flight. Otherwise, I found the itinerary well-organized and the instructions pretty easy to follow. I would certainly be interested in booking another tour with your company. I liked the fact that I was on my own schedule rather than with the same group all the time. I got to meet a variety of different people and still have time to myself.

Wonderful trip, which started with the care and efficiency of Relaxing Journeys staff. Grand Pacific were an excellent company to travel with, highly organized, great drivers and great value for money. I have never been on a coach tour and would not hesitate to use them (or yourselves) again. From the minute we arrived in Christchurch till the minute we flew out of Auckland our every need was taken care of, and both coach captains really added to the whole flavour of the trip. Nothing was too much trouble for them. One thing in particular I would like to praise was the quality of our (included ) excursions. Very varied, all high quality, and every one carefully thought out and particularly well organized. Downsides were very few, but two hotels were not to be recommended and certainly not of the standard of the others. The Elms hotel in Christchurch could be classed as OK but the Tanoa Paihia in Paihia had nothing to commend it all. I'm sure most of our group would have left the coach company in no doubt about how we felt about it. In no way did it detract from a superb holiday, and though I probably wont be back in New Zealand again, I have such good and happy memories of the time I was there. I also thank you and Relaxing journeys for the way everything was put together for us and have been singing your praises far and wide. There was another couple on the trip who had booked through you and they were as highly delighted as we were, so thank you very much indeed for your part in making my holiday so special.

Apologies for not getting back sooner, but life has been pretty hectic since our return to the UK. We both thoroughly enjoyed the holiday. We thought it was very well organised. Both drivers were excellent. Very helpful and courteous and absolute encyclopaedias on their country. The variety of places we stayed, visited and activities offered were very good. The hotels on the whole were very good. We would have liked a hotel with slightly more space in Wellington, but realise this is not always possible if you are staying in a large city and the advantages of being in the middle of a large city have to be weighed up against this. Also we felt the hotel in Paihia did not come up to the standard offered on the rest of the tour. In fact the room we were given on arrival felt like we had been put in a prison cell, as it was very dark and we had to ask for a different room. The lounge was not particularly inviting and the dining area reminded us of a school canteen, complete with Formica tables. We were both so pleased with the holiday, that we would recommend your company to our family and friends and if we decide to take another holiday in the Southern Hemisphere your company will be our first port of call. We would also like to say how helpful Craig was to us with regards to booking and making the holiday arrangements. This as you can imagine is not so easy when you are living on the opposite side of the world!

My wife and I couldn't have been happier with our tour. We just ticked all the excellent ' boxes in the 'satisfaction questionnaire, handed out before the end of the South Island trip. However, we would like to add that with over 40 years experience of 'package' holidays and tours we have only twice previously felt impelled to write to congratulate the courier/driver. In this case, without doubt, Tour Manager TERRY PETERSON and Driver GAVIN JENSEN are the best that we have ever come across. Not only for their individual efficiency, expertise, 'people handling' skills and the impeccable way they worked as a team, but also for their humour, which can be the 'icing on the cake' where long coach journeys are concerned. This tour was part of our second trip to NZ, mainly staying with sets of friends in North Island, from which we have just returned. We had a fantastic time and felt what we saw was varied and interesting and we were very happy with our accommodation and meals. We have learned so much about the history of New Zealand and thought 'The bay of Islands' was like paradise. Our favourite stay was at the Pacific Harbour Lodge in Tairua where Pete, our stand in bus driver, organised meals in a local restaurant. Even though he had been thrown into the tour at the last moment he endeavoured to answer all our queries and worked very hard. We really enjoyed the time spent on the Kiwi Dundee Adventures as our guide told us so much about the area and New Zealand in general. He was very knowledgeable as was our guide to the 90 mile beach day trip. There was good balance between free time and choices of activities and organised events where everyone was involved. The last day was rather tedious from Turangi to wellington as we were on the coach all day arriving in Wellington about 2.30 where the tour ended. We were fortunate enough to spend an extra day in Wellington before flying back to Christchurch but there were missed opportunities on that last day. However we thought we had excellent value for money and the strain of organising a tour was really taken over by yourselves. We hope to be travelling in Australia in October and would welcome literature about tours there.

From the moment we arrived at Auckland till we left Christchurch a month later everything went like clockwork. We all had a great time. The variation between the north and south island was quite dramatic both in scenery and weather. I'm glad we had the extra days at both ends of the holiday and a couple in the middle. We had a fantastic time on our holiday. Right back when we started tailoring our itinerary the service and help that we received from Cam was first rate. He always got back to us promptly with revised prices and helpful comments as to whether or not our plans were realistic (in terms of travelling times etc). We were also very impressed that he remembered details on our final itinerary that were only mentioned in passing on initial enquiries some months earlier. We only had one hiccup (wrong hire car on pick up at Greymouth). Although this was a mistake on Cams part we were very impressed how quickly he set things right and made sure we were duly compensated. Even more impressed on reflection that he was probably dealing with this when he was feeling poorly. A fantastic, memorable holiday which was a pleasure to organise through Relaxing Journeys because Cam gave us very personalised service and made us feel important. Daily servicing of our Motel units was an unexpected surprise that we do not think happens in Australia at the standard we booked.

We thoroughly enjoyed our tour and everything went very smoothly. We love New Zealand! The places that you arranged for us were excellent choices and have left us with long lasting memories. The accommodation was of a very high standard. Our favourites were; The Poplars at Christchurch and The Monaco Apartments at Nelson. Directions were really helpful and the roads a treat compared to the UK! It took us 2 1/2 hours to get to Kaikoura whale watch without stops which made us miss the check in time of 12.45, but fortunately they let us check in at 1.00pm. We would recommend this change for future travellers, but all other times were very accurate. We were glad to be warned about needing travel sickness tablets for this and the dolphin watch as several people around us were very sick whilst we were lucky enough not to be affected! The vouchers were accepted without a problem everywhere we went and this made things very straightforward for us. Thank you for organising such a wonderful tour for us. It was 'sweet as...'! Hi Just to let you know that when I picked up my mum from the coach station she was full of excitement, she had a fantastic time and whished she had booked a longer trip 3 days was just not long enough. She was a little dubious about the boat trip to start with as she had not been on a boat for a very long time, but after she plucked up the courage to get on the boat she had a fab experience. She was just a little disappointed that she did not get to see any dolphins. She stayed in a Bronze Class B&B she said the accommodation was great. I would like to thank you for the professional help you offered and the organisation was great. You really set my mind at rest as this is the first time that I have sent my mum away on a trip on her own. Hi Georgina!! I was going to email you this week to say hello and tell you about my trip. The trip was FANTASTIC! New Zealand is absolutely stunning. The scenery is beyond description - 'Beautiful' doesn't do it justice. The bus trip was wonderful-no stress, good hotels, and our tour guide JP was very helpful, knowledgeable and very funny.
You weren't kidding about the weather! I wore everything from a hat and gloves (got snow!) to shorts on the trip. Very unpredictable...like Canada! Luckily, I was well equipped because of your advice. People I met on the trip were wonderful. Mostly from Australia and England. Very funny. They were older than me (I am 42) and the average age was 70. Regardless, I had more fun with them that I do with people my own age! Absolutely loved Milford Sound and Queenstown. I had a coffee at the Viaduct in Auckland as you advised and 'cheered' you with my cappuccino. I swear. Take care and thanks again for making my trip wonderful. Hard to get back to work. What can I say but that it was excellent almost throughout. The accommodation was of high standard in both Omapere and Paihia, some of the best 3-star places we have seen. In particular Stuart and his staff at the Pacific Beach hotel in Paihia were exceptionally friendly and welcoming - couldn't do too much, and always cheerful even under pressure. Having an upgraded room added to the delight. We could have stayed much longer in the Kauri Museum. The Footprints walk into the Waipoua Kauri forest (in steady rain) was so good. The guides did a great job and in a small group of seven we felt we were out walking with Maori friends. We went back next day to do it again in daylight and the dry. The sea at Ninety-mile beach (my motive for choosing this tour out of all of them) was spectacular to behold in bright sunshine against the backdrop of a storm approaching from the southwest. Though the creek at the north end was blocked near the mouth we still managed the dunes. We laughed at the state of SH1 near the Cape, though somehow when it's all finished and tidy up there it won't be so much of an adventure getting there. We appreciated the suggestions for diversions en route, followed each of them and enjoyed every one: the beautiful Boulder Valley, Kerikeri, Langs Beach and Mangawhai. I said "almost". The only complaint I had, I delivered in person to the Thrifty Rental desk. They hadn't done their preparation of the car properly - loose trim, unrecorded scratches, remote locking not working. But I wouldn't buy a Peugeot anyway ;-) So please be assured that we enjoyed every day, and have already recommended your company to friends who are still toying with the idea of doing their OE to New Zealand.

A lot of companies back in the UK only seemed to offer one night in each location which would seem that you're living out of a suitcase. Thankfully after a short search online we found your website, which offered everything that we needed! I sent off an information request and Cam quickly got back to me. Over a couple of emails we arranged all the finer details, because this was to be our honeymoon Cam made some provisions for a few extra tours (overnight on the Milford Sound and the Lord of the Rings tours) and had them listed on the itinerary as mystery tours so that Sam would be surprised. We also took a few extra trips once we arrived, I can highly recommend Horse Trekking in Punakaiki, Glacier Explorers at Mount Cook, Shotover Jet at Queenstown and a Heli flight over the Fox and Franz Josef glaciers.
The tours that we'd also arranged with Cam were fantastic and we really enjoyed the Mitai evening in Rotorua. I'm glad that we also extended a day and the start and the end so that we had extra time to explore Christchurch and Auckland as we were really tired from the flight when we arrived into Christchurch. In summary, Relaxing Journeys is a company that I'd recommend to anyone for arranging great tours in New Zealand. Cam was excellent in answering all of our questions prior to leaving the UK and it was great to meet up with a bottle of wine at the end of the tour so that we could say thank-you for arranging a great honeymoon for us! Thank-you for providing us with a really 'Relaxing Journey' and memories that we'll treasure for the rest of our lives!

Hi Jill, I'm not sure if I got the exact date of departure right, but I had a wonderful time on the tour. All the hotels were great. The people who did their jobs at reception, etc., were friendly and helpful. The sight-seeing was truly wonderful. I would give a top recommendation to anyone else wanting to take this tour. It went by far too fast, but that was by my choice. If I had it to do over again, I would have opted to take twice as much time, as I had to make choices to leave out a few things. Each person who was picking me up was right on time, which made things that much more enjoyable. All the drivers (except the first one) were quite friendly and informative. They were proud of their home and extremely knowledgeable about the places on the trip. Also, all of the food was anywhere from good to outstanding! I passed these along to Georgina in an e-mail but I'll repeat them here again: Both the transportation and lodging was very well planned and we were thrilled at how easy it was to get around. We were surprised that the transportation was always on time; the drivers were interesting and well informed, and the coaches were comfortable. The lodgings were generally good. The A-line in Queenstown was just okay, but we didn't care for the Holiday Inn-on-Avon at all. The staff was surly and did not seem interested in us. I would definitely not stay there again and would encourage your company to make a better selection. Otherwise, we would stay at any of the others. We only had to sides trips and they were both excellent. We have travelled and cruised extensively to many countries, and New Zealand was, by far, the friendliest and most accommodating.

Right from the start, when we got you, we felt all would go well. We had done a lot of research & chose the tour nearest to what we wanted. New Zealand is fantastic. Everyone is so friendly and polite; even the smallest town has local pride and organises tourist attractions. the scenery, the birds, the thermal and Maori stuff, museums, architecture, wine, motels, gardens - all top notch. We want to go again. All the arrangements for our tour went perfectly, so we had no worries at all. I would only change a few things - our visit to Ulva Island - I think the trip with Ulva Goodwillie, whom I met, would have been better than the one with Real Journeys, which was a bit perfunctory. The way to Nugget Point was rough, and when we got there the path was too steep for us old folk. Also next time we'll spend more time in fewer places. Norm says he really liked Norsewood Norwegian settlement, on the way to Mount Bruce. Thanks for everything. Delay in replying due to the horrors of Christmas.

Well we are home now in the UK after a super holiday. One which we will long remember and treasure. NZ really does sell itself as a beautiful country. We really did enjoy our holiday and want to thank you so much for your excellent organisation. We did many of your recommendations, and thoroughly enjoyed them. They were a good balance and interesting diversity. In addition, the prebooked trips were all excellent, interesting and well organised. We particularly enjoyed the Mauri hosted walk in the forest at Hokianga and the superbly hosted, and informative, coach trip to Cape Reinga, although it was a long day. Our self drive tour was perfect allowing us to take our time to get to know the country, people & food. The detailed driving directions and travel times were big help as we do like to go slow to take in all the sights but still arrive at our next destination before midnight! I would like thank Relaxing Journeys and especially Cameron for organising a wonderful holiday for all of us. The whole experience was superbly well organised from arrival to departure with every last detail planned and taken care of, making it a truly relaxing journey, allowing us to take in all that New Zealand had to offer. On top of that even though we visited in August the weather was excellent and didn't stop us from doing anything. Even when things went wrong outside of Relaxing Journeys control when one of our planned hotels shut, Cameron had organised us new accommodation with a new voucher and driving instructions faxed to our hotel ready for our departure. Without them we would have turned up to a closed hotel and then have to look for a new hotel. We went to see some snow (not often seen by us Queenslanders) at Coronet Peak, Remarkables and Cardrona and visited Arrowtown. Thank you so much for the dinner and the wine for our anniversary. It was a fantastic unexpected extra! I must mention that our 4 favourite parts were Lake Tekapo, Queenstown, the heli hike and Raehiti Lodge. Nick and Pip were absolutely wonderful hosts and, as we were the only ones there on our last night, we got spoilt rotten. We took over 500 photos so there are lots of memories. You even arranged for the weather to be perfect! The bus drivers were wonderful, the hotels good (especially 526 George Street in Dunedin) and the included excursions were excellent. We also went ice hiking at Fox Glacier, bathed at the Polynesian Spa in Rotorua, sailed on the SS Earnslaw at Queenstown, and visited the Royal Albatross Centre at Dunedin. These were very good too. I think the highlight of the holiday was walking on the ice at Fox Glacier, though watching a male albatross fly down and feed his chick took some beating.

We would like to say how much we enjoyed the tour around New Zealand. It far exceeded our expectations and would recommend it to anyone who wanted to visit NZ. We do have one regret, and that was that we didn't include the Bay of Islands in our tour. Everything went well during the 16 days we were there, the company of people on the coach were fine, and everyone got on well with each other. The Tour Director Cally Burke, and the driver Clark (don’t know his surname) were excellent company, very informative, and very friendly. If we were ever able to come to NZ again to complete the parts that we missed this time we would certainly use the same company. I should have sent this sooner but I thought you would appreciate some feedback from Marlene and I re our "Glaciers Tour" March 4-14. In short, it was great and essentially a day by day visual feast. I was very glad I created some time at either end of the tour in Christchurch with an extra day and a late plane out as the city is extremely interesting. The TranzAlpine train trip was a super finish as well and we were very glad we included that and a trip on the S S Earnslaw at Queenstown. Your arrangement to have us picked up at the station and motel to complete our trip was super - saved a lot of mucking around and worrying - particularly at that end of the trip. Highlights for us were Te Anau, Glenorchy, Milford Sound (though a small boat tour would be better) and Franz Josef.

Dave and I have returned from our self drive holiday in your beautiful country! We had a wonderful time and thanks to relaxing journeys, all went smoothly. The itinerary worked very well, with enough variety to keep us looking forward to the next little part of our journey. The accommodation was excellent and the timing of each part of the journey was well thought out. The finale of the trip- the trans alpine train crossing was a great way to sit back and enjoy some more spectacular scenery! People often commented about why we were visiting NZ in winter? It was very cold, but we had warm clothing, and we found getting around very easy, because of reduced numbers of people. Thank you for your input and I would recommend this holiday to anyone. We are contemplating doing the North Island at some stage and will certainly 'look you up' again.

Although it's some time since we concluded our tour with you, we have only just returned home having extended our stay on the North Island for the test cricket series, but we did want to write to you and let you know that we had a fabulous holiday and we really appreciate the work that you had put into our itineraries. Your route, your recommended accommodation and your excursions were of the highest quality. Having met many other visitors during the course of our tour and discussed their experiences we were always confident that the arrangements you'd made on our behalf were at least as good and on most occasions better than those who had made their own plans or had relied upon other agencies for their itineraries. Even your choice of hire car company was commendable. During our South Island tour we managed to break a windscreen and sustain a puncture within 48 hours of each other but they could not have been more helpful and came to our assistance quickly and efficiently on both occasions. We enjoyed all your excursions and perhaps surprisingly, our favourite was the Mount Cook Glacier Explorers trip which provided a glimpse of a world so alien to us it is difficult to describe. We received a warm welcome in all the selected hotels and lodges and we particularly enjoyed the smaller, boutique style of accommodation. Everyone was expecting us and had a room ready for us despite being exceptionally busy. In closing, may we thank you and all your colleagues at Relaxing Journeys once again. Our experience of New Zealand was just wonderful and we would not hesitate in recommending you and your services to any other Brit planning to visit your great country.

Well what a wonderful holiday we have had! A stunning country both North and South (although we preferred the south as it seems to have everything). You people are so proud of it all and rightly so – may there never be any high rise buildings built; it was such a change to see beaches and lakes looking as natural as possible. Plenty for all, as I said to someone. It was lovely and our grateful thanks for arranging such a fine and memorable holiday. By-the-way, we had (apart from rain in Rotorua) fantastic weather on the whole, many days getting up to 25 degrees, so an added bonus to your beautiful landscape, as it is like our Devon, Cumbria, N.Wales and Scotland all rolled into one, with jolly nice Kiwis to make our stay so informative and pleasurable.

I feel horrible about never telling you about such a great experience my trip was with you. My trip was 3 yrs ago, to the day. Jill Harris was the agent I was working with and she did a wonderful job. I took a customised 15 day independent coach tour - because I was currently deployed in Iraq and coming from a war zone for two weeks of R&R, the dates of when I was going to be landing in NZ weren't firmed up until almost 48hrs before I arrived, and yet Jill did a wonderful job working with me and ensured that I was able to see everything I wanted to see on the South Island during my trip. From the minute I arrived until the day I left everything was taken care, there was one small hick-up but Jill quickly got it fixed and I was able to make it to one of my day trips I had planned. Whale watching in Kaikura was amazing, the train ride from Christchurch to Kaikura was also very memorable. Abel Tasman National Park was amazing and I could have spent more than a day there, but I had so much more ground to cover. Time spent in Fox/Franz glaciers was also so very very beautiful, Milford Sound, Mt. Cook, Queenstown, and I'm sure there were more places...I got to see my favorite animals on earth, penguins to include the Little Blue penguin, even if it was at the aquarium/zoo in Christchurch. The food, wine and even local beer was wonderful. I fell in love with NZ and would love to live there some day. The great news is that I will be returning in April 2010 for a business trip and afterward I'll be meeting up with some of my family and will certainly be calling on Relaxing Journey's to help plan our vacation. We made it home. Although, I personally feel that the vacation was too short and I could really use another 2 months in the South Island to really see everything! The trip was amazing. I think there was a part of us that was uncertain about how things would turn out, since we, being type A personalities, did not plan everything ourselves. The accommodations were incredible, especially the Heritage in Queenstown. That is truly a top of the line hotel with excellent service. Although the White Morph in Kaikoura was the least impressive (accommodation wise) out of all the places, it was definitely a top grade place for the small community that it represents. In addition, the view from the White Morph was amazing. I captured some amazing sunset and sunrise pictures. I attached my favorite sunset picture to share. All of the activities that were not Weather-ed out were amazing. The Alpine Safari was incredible. Jeff really does a top grade job of providing us with information about the natural habitats and ecology of New Zealand, as well as the Sheep ranching. Although no animals were sighted in Doubtful Sound, the views were amazing. The Real Journeys team has an excellent team and top notch facilities. In Kaikoura, we were able to see one Sperm whale take two dives. Plenty of great pictures there. In Dunedin, we actually found this incredible Penguin encounter group. We used the Elm Wilderness group and actually hiked down to the penguin nesting grounds. One penguin actually walked right next to our entire group on its way up to its nest. My nieces are very pleased with their penguin pictures. Thank you for putting this wonderful vacation together.

It is now three weeks since we returned from our trip to Australia and New Zealand. We had a wonderful time for the whole month that we were away and a holiday never to be forgotten supported by the hundreds of photographs we took. However the tour "Trains Fiords and Glaciers" was superb and went very smoothly from the time A2B Limousines met us at Christchurch Airport on 01 August to the time they returned us to the airport on 08 August. We were both in awe of the spectacular scenery from start to finish and were amazed at the view from the car whilst driving. Suffice to say there were many photograph stops along the way. We particularly loved Franz Joseph and the Abel Tasman cruise and walk. We were also very lucky with the weather as it had been raining in Franz Joseph but we had a beautiful sunny day on the glacier. We both appreciated your quick response to our predicament at Balmoral Lodge, as we understand it was late on a Saturday, so thank you very much with your professionalism in getting accommodation so promptly. We were delighted with The Heritage and Millbrook Estate. We had a wonderful time. Words cannot describe the friendliness we encountered both on our tour and also the people we met. Your country is beautiful. Every day I left the hotel to travel around the country I thought nothing can top the previous day but each day seemed to be better than the last. Being Irish I have always heard about the hospitality of the Irish but in my opinion no country could compete with New Zealand when it comes to hospitality. Everything on the tour that could be done was, and no hassle booking in or out of hotels. For me and my sister Anne it was definitely the best holiday we ever had. Our trip ended with the beautiful wedding of my niece on Waiheke Island and my son came from Australia and liked the country so much is going to apply for a visa to work. The whole trip was excellent. I just wanted to say how good your website is. It's packed with lots of information and is very user friendly. I like to look at every detail -what the hotels are like etc etc. Everything I have been looking for is all there. It's brilliant and that includes the photo's too!!

Thank you so much for the photos - all safely retrieved and looking good (who's that woman with the big bum?). Seriously, we love them and they brought back so many happy memories. We'll print them off for our album. Yes, the weather here is bloomin awful - grey, damp and lights on at 3pm (sometimes sooner) - so we're thinking longingly of NZ and the lovely sunshine. Glad to know you're well and pleased to say that we are fine too. Christmas is fast approaching and I'm almost there with the shopping etc - just got to wrap everything now. Might need to some red wine to keep me going! Have a super Christmas and a really happy New Year. Thanks again for the photos and for being such a fun tour guide. We won't forget you, you can bet on that. All the very best.

When I booked the tour of NZ back in April it seemed such a long time before it happened but... it's come and gone. We are back from the best holiday ever. We loved New Zealand. In our opinion it is one of the most beautiful countries in the world. Thank you for making it happen.

We have recently returned home from a memorable world tour. Our visit to many countries around the world, will forever hold wonderful memories of the sights we seen and the people we met. Our visit to New Zealand was made very special by the professionalism of our coach driver Alan and Tessa our tour guide to Rotorua. Nothing was to much trouble for Alan and the knowledge of Tessa during our excursion to the Maori land was fascinating. Craig on behalf of my party I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for making our stay in New Zealand so special. One day we hope to visit your country again and if so I will certainly look you up for further assistance. Best of luck in the Tri-Nations.

Trying to get back to normal after my wonderful holiday! The South Island is a wild and wonderful place and I'm so grateful that I had the privilege of seeing it with such a great guide.
